@CowperKettle I keep postponing replying. I will though.
03:21
@JimReynolds oh my god. Finally. I just pray that all his ailments arr cured and healed soon.

@JimReynolds finally a word from him. When did he leave that message?
Day 29 after operation. I've even forgotten I'm a renal transplantee
Which is both good and bad. Good because I can function norma . . . even better than a normal person
Doing lots and lots and lots of cardio to lose the pounds I gained while on dialysis
And damn, now that I have that extra load of urea and creatinine off my brain, I can think better and faster. I can feel it
Bad because I might drop my guard and germs, especially those from aliens, could infect me
Doing 700 minutes of brisk walking at a pace of 4 mph every week
Which is kinda an improvement considering 10 minutes of walking while on dialysis meant I'd breathe heavily and feel dizzy
I could do absolutely no amount of exercise for 14-ish months
Did you know that the mean BMI for dialysis patients on 2009 was around 29.2?
I'm also really happy I heard something from Damking. Tell him to keep that positive attitude. Believe me or not it's half the cure no matter what the problem is
You hear numerous tales of badassery and willpower defeating impossible cancers. I've actually seen people like that, so they're not fairy tales
Unfortunately, however, at least here, patients are never educated on how to MENTALLY deal with their condition
Combine that with the fact that they tend to act stupid and cause trouble for themselves, and you get the grim reaped.
BTW, did I mention I started learning German?
I also have more important studies, so I can't devote as much time as I'd like, but since it's my fifth language already, I have some experience on what to and not to do
So it'd probably take not so long before I get to, say, B1 fluency
First impression? It's neater and funnier than English
But I guess that's because it's new, so
It's definitely more intuitive for the middle Eastern learner than English
Case in point, Aitch doesn't even sound like h
Once you get used to weirdness of "ch" and "r" in German, the pronunciations are way closer to the spellings than in English. Natürlich
English borrows from everything and everyone
BTW, best thing about the transplant? I can have lots and lots of yogurt again. Yogurt is NOT icky @Colleen
One other thing I noticed is no matter how much I eat during the three main meals I still end up receiving less Calories than the weight loss calculators out there recommend
So as long as I'm not sedentary I will lose weight
And attempting to lose weight didn't mean changing food habits for me, merely not having the leisurely bar of chocolate or creamy biscuits every couple of days
K, maybe gotta go back to studying plant biology. Plants are so badass.

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I took German in school and enjoyed it - it's fun to speak :)
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I like yogurt, although I do put a bunch of granola and berries in it :) I'm so glad to hear you're doing well!

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ glad to see that you are doing extremely well. Elated to see your determation and positivity that seems to have made with steel. Cheers brave heart !
13:31
@Man_From_India <3 I'll include your wishes in my reply to him
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I wrote him on Oct 24th. He replied the next day. It really surprised me that I wrote him. I don't remember why, but we exchanged emails a long time ago for some reason.
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ So with luck, you'll surpass your previous level of intellectual functioning (that of a bird with dementia)?
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ So, to summarize: It didn't mean changing food habits, just . . . ahmmmm . . . changing food habits. Keep working on that sharp mental clarity thing, ok? <3
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Wow!
13:49
@CowperKettle Don't feed his huge ego, or he'll become very unpleasant again, and cause another of his organs to try to leave him. ;)
@JimReynolds thank you Jim. Interestingly I had written him 2 or 3 emails long back, but he didn't reply :'( but that's fine. I know the reason now. Hope he comes back here with good health and prosperity. Also include how much we all miss him.

I wonder if Jim Reynolds is our moderator J.R. secretly...
16:26
@JasperLoy Seriously, or as a joke, or maybe some of both?
@JimReynolds A bit of both. That applies to most things I say.
Haha. It's a pretty human thing, I think.
Well, no. I'm just me, and J.R. is just our moderator, J.R.
J.R. must be American, because the British would usually write JR, lol.
I suppose, rationally speaking, it seems it would be hard to find a logical reason that he would invent me as a false persona. For what purpose? I've been around for quite a while, and it's hard to imagine what I might have done that accomplishes some aim I (the J.R. behind the fake Jim Reynolds) possessed!
Wait. Now I'm wondering if J.R. is me when I'm asleep.
Or maybe J.R. is J.K. Rowling who wrote Harry Potter.
16:30
Some people may wonder if I'm really Jasper Loy. Are you wondering that, at all?
Yes. We Americans like our full stops. :D
Do you see what I did there?
Yes, you said American but you said full stop instead of period.
Interestingly, full stop or period not only refers to the punctuation but also refers to the finality of what is said. As in "this is good, period".
I am wondering whether you have the answer to this question:
yesterday, by Will Hunting
I was watching a youtube video and someone mentioned something that sounds like bead or bean that refers to some illegal drug. Any idea what it could be?
I only know that beans may refer to the drug Ecstasy.
Maybe I should give you the video itself:
I have never heard that name for ecstasy before. Period.
But now I have.
I must go to sleep IMMEDIATELY. If J.R. comes out, and says things about me, don't believe him!!!!!
2
Oh, I know him.
It's around 1:55 and 2:10. Where he contrasts Zoloft and this "bean" thing.
I know Zoloft but I don't know whether he is saying "bean" or something else.
16:41
He's saying beer
That is a joke right?
Or does beer refer to some other drug?
Beer would seem to refer to beer.
I see. But I am sure beer can be advertised, so that must be a joke, lol.
He's making the point that, in America, the government has prohibited the advertising of beer, but allows the advertising of a more (I suppose) toxic/dangerous substance.
I see. So you really think it is beer.
Then his pronunciation is really bad.
16:44
That's a judgment.
He may be speaking someone inexactly, to make the point. He may mean simply that the advertising of alcohol is restricted, but a dangerous substance such as Zoloft is not.
Or not as regulated, or some such similar argument.
Currently, the standard is that alcohol advertisements can only be placed in media where 70% of the audience is over the legal drinking age.
Alcohol advertising is the promotion of alcoholic beverages by alcohol producers through a variety of media. Along with tobacco advertising, alcohol advertising is one of the most highly regulated forms of marketing. Some or all forms of alcohol advertising is banned in some countries. There have been some important studies about alcohol advertising published, such as J.P. Nelson's in 2000.Scientific research, health agencies and universities have, over the decades, been able to demonstrate a correlation between alcohol beverage advertising and alcohol consumption, especially among initially non...
I see. That's an interesting law.
night-night :)
See you in your dreams

> We present a 38-year-old lady who had a history of muscle cramps since 8 years.
Typical Indian English ))
@JasperLoy I don't like him very much.
It's true that psychiatry is in a horrible shape, and corporations are interested in drugging people for profits. But. But mental disorders do exist, and you can't talk them away.
19:55
@CowperKettle Well, maybe you didn't understand what he was saying in that video in the intended context. But I don't wanna enter a long discussion now on that. I only wanted to know the word he used in that video. And I think it is indeed the word beer. =)
@CowperKettle You seem to know a lot about Indian English. I don't know anything about it, because I haven't read anything about it, nor have I been to India. =)
