was thinking up something else for sandbox but it basically just reduced to this in the rectangular array case
which is too boring for the original idea but could be interesting enough standalone

you could have it with arbritrary number of inputs though

im especially concerned that some of my test cases arent optimal, becuz i did them all by hand
specifically the test case which has output 22
i have serious doubts that that is optimal
