Q: The Decryption Function

SachinYou must write a program that takes an encrypted string and decrypt it according to specific rules and then print it out. Decryption will occur by performing two operations. Sample Input Argument 1 (the encrypted string) HGJILKBADCFE Operation 1: Swap the first half of the string with the second...

Q: Hexasweep (part 1): The Solver

clismique(This is part 1 in a two-part challenge.) Your task is to solve a Hexasweep puzzle. A Hexasweep puzzle is set out on a grid of diamonds arranged in hexagonal shapes, of which the board looks like a hexagon, like so: _____ /\ \ _____/ X\____\_____ /\ \ / XX /\ \ /X...

Something really odd I just noticed: Necromancer is the silver variant of the Revival badge, yet there's like 10x more people with Necromancer. It's weird that only Revival has the condition that it has to be the first answer, I guess that's why it's so rare

@RedwolfPrograms The condition should read "first answer scoring 2 or more" as a single phrase, so technically you can get it with a non-first answer if all the other answers have score 1 or lower.

I've got two silver code golf tag badges. This info seemed kinda relevant

But yeah, Revival (permitting only one badge per question) is inherently rarer than Necromancer.
@Lyxal How is it possible??

@Bubbler I don't really know
It just happened

6:04 AM
@Lyxal Maybe you should post it to MSE as there's a previous report of apparently the same bug.

CMC: Given a string, output whether it's piecewise palindromic. A string is piecewise palindromic if it is palindromic or if it is a piecewise palindromic string with an identical prefix and suffix. Example: abcdefcdeab is piecewise palindromic because the pieces ab cde f cde ab represent a palindromic array whose middle element is palindromic.

Ugh, I just pressed the wrong close reason on the latest off-topic post, didn't see the "This question belongs on another site in the Stack Exchange network" until after I clicked the "Go to Stack Overflow" one :/

@Neil Whoa, that looks hard

@Neil Seems like that could be a Main challenge

@Neil Is abcdab piecewise palindromic?

i have 46 in BQN with the basic greedy removing longest matching prefix/suffix impl (assuming that's even correct)

Q: Product lifecycle/ Battery capacity

Sahil SawantI have prepared one project. The details are as follows: The motor is turned ON when the button is pressed. Motor gets ON for 35 secs and then gets turned OFF. The whole operation is controlled by one microcontroller. I am using an 8000mAh Lipo battery, 12V 3S. Motor continuous current: 5.25A mic...

10:41 AM
@Adám no, because you need to end up with a palindrome
@dzaima I assume that greedy removal of any prefix/suffix will always work. my example is abcdabeabcdab. you can remove the maximal prefix/suffix abcdab or you can remove the minimal prefixes/suffixes ab, then cd, then ab.

I can't see how the greedy approach would fail

that's about what i arrived at too

but regardless of that I'm still just going to filter partitions shrug

not sure if this is the right place to ask but can anyone think of a way to output (normally o) in ><> without using letters?
can't use self modifying code bc that would use g or p

I looked at the esolangs.org description, and I really doubt that's possible (because, as you stated, o is a letter and p is also a letter)

oh well :/

It may be possible in either Gol><> or *><> given their expanded command set

12:07 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Neither of them would work I'm afraid. *><> isn't really that much of extension and mostly focuses on functions/movement, and Gol><>'s output instructions are all alphabetical

@JoKing Shame :(

1:01 PM
@Neil I think cabc__cabc would fail because you need to match cabc but the greedy approach would match c first and then abc and cab don't match anymore.

@HyperNeutrino just match c, ab, and c again

Oh wait I didn't think about that lol.
yeah intuitively it feels like it should always work for any case then

Yeah, at one point a loooong time ago
I only went on it a few times total but it was pretty nice

@cairdcoinheringaahing is the PPCG discord still around? (I'm pinging you specifically because you have a discord invite link in your profile that says it's invalid)
oh never mind I looked for it on meta and found a post with an invite link in it that worked
should've checked there first, sorry :P

@HyperNeutrino Yeah, I've been meaning to replace that
Do you have a link to the one you used?

@cairdcoinheringaahing I found this link in DJ's resignation which is the one I used to join

@HyperNeutrino Thanks :P

np :D

I'm happy to see that there are enough moderator candidates that I actually have to think carefully about who I want to vote for :)

I just realised my nomination was so long I couldn't fit in the "Hi, I'm caird coinheringaahing" bit :/

@HyperNeutrino Now you have us intigued with your "it's a bit of a long story" :-)

6:14 PM
Oh
okay so basically some number of years ago I was talking in this chat and I mentioned that when I created my account I wasn't 13 yet
and by mistake someone thought I meant I still wasn't 13 and deleted my entire account
at this time, I was a week away from turning 15
and even though my account was technically created before 13 since I was above 13 by the time anyone realized, this was my mistake but my account should not have been deleted
and so after a bit I got my old account's contributions merged into my current account, and Stack Exchange was really fast and helpful with getting that sorted out, because my account should not have been deleted after I had already turned 13
basically I just missed the age restriction when creating my Stack Overflow account and then entirely forgot about it and eventually created a Code Golf account on it a year later when it didn't matter anymore
so that's why this account is only 3.3 years old, but my reputation records go back a couple of years before my account existed
@LuisMendo long story short, I was dumb 6 years ago, made an account when I was only 12, was talking about it and someone mistakenly deleted my account when I was already 14, and the account couldn't be restored but my posts could, so I have my reputation records from the very start but my account appears younger than it is
this was kinda significant when it happened because at that time I was extremely active and my votes within 60 days were purged causing a net loss of like a couple hundred if not over a thousand reputation to the site across many users :P

@HyperNeutrino That should have been auto-reversed (for those users) in the overnight process, though, no?

@nitsua60 Maybe it was. I'm not sure; it didn't end up making much of an impact in the long term, but when it happened it was decently noticeable

6:39 PM
@HyperNeutrino I definitely remember me and Xcoder losing a few hundred and then getting it restored when you came back

@cairdcoinheringaahing Ah, okay. It would make sense that they got restored eventually. It was kinda worrying for a few days though :P

Yeah its never a good thing to see "-500 Voting reverted" :P

yeahhh it's a bit of a yikes

@HyperNeutrino I see :-) Thanks for explaining

np! yeah it's a pretty wack story, but not much to it and it doesn't matter much other than me being around for longer than my account would indicate

9:05 PM
@Razetime we kinda still do
It's just not as big and probably not what it used to be
From what I gather, it was a recent attempt at a revival

Q: Find the result of some assignment statements

Redwolf ProgramsIn this challenge, the goal is to find the values of some variables after a number of assignments are done. An example input: a = 5 b = 4 c = a = b a = 2 b = a This would result in: a = 2 b = 2 c = 4 Each statement will be one of the following: A variable name ([a-z_]+) A numeric value ([0-9]...
