@feersum If you do that with a 2d numpy array, it gives you a "vertical" slice of an array (0,b), (1,b), etc.

@JohnDvorak it's not actually as bad as you think. The parameter effectively says "How much information do you want returned", and the default is "All of it". So, by ignoring the argument, you are simply returning extra data which is unlikely to break anybody.

@feersum what Daniel said. It's valid syntax, it will pass (slice(None), b) to a.__getitem__. Native python types don't make use of this but things like numpy and pandas do.

The meta flag reasons [possibly close reasons as well, but I lost the privilege now :)] seem to still refer to Programming Puzzles & Code Golf SE. Should I blame caching? Similarly, main flag reasons do not refer to PPCG, but mention things like "...not about programming puzzles or code golf as described in the help center..." (that seems like it was derived from the site name, and I have no idea if is it better or worse than "...not about code golf or coding challenges...")
