Q: Self-displaying image

Martin RosenauBackground There are self-extracting .ZIP files. Typically they have the extension .EXE (and by executing the file they will be extracted) but when renaming them to .ZIP, you can open the file with some ZIP extracting software. (This is possible because .EXE files require a certain header but ....

Q: Group Integers by Originality

Kevin CruijssenIntroduction: I collect twisty puzzles. Most twisty puzzles are produced and sold by Chinese companies. Most well-known companies ask permission from puzzle designers to produce their designs and work together towards a product on the market. In this case, puzzle designers are of course very hap...

Fun fact: Axtell's documentation api.axtell.vihan.org ranks higher than axtell itself on google :P

If you encounter a laptop with Maxxaudio Pro. Just chuck it out the window and save yourself some headache.
How do you code an audio driver to take 30% cpu while no audio is playing? Feels like I'm mining bitcoins here

CMC: Given three integers N, L and U: output whether there exists a factor of N called p so that p is between L and U

@Anush is between inclusive, (half-)exclusive, or up to the answer?

@dzaima inclusive

1:18 PM
@Anush Dyalog Extended, 18 bytes

@dzaima That ninja though

@dzaima 0 1+⍺

oh the question doesn't state prime factors, just factors, hmm

@dzaima 1∊(⎕,1+⎕)⍸⍭⎕
@dzaima 1∊0 1∘+⍛⍸∘⍭
Split-compose FTW

@dzaima in that case, dzaima/APL, 9 bytes

1:24 PM
@dzaima 8: 0∊…/⍤⊣|⊢

^ + still unpulled = 6 bytes: 0∊…/⍛|

@dzaima Yes of course. is fun.

@Adám until it got introduced i completely didn't understand why dyadic did the strange thing it does

Morning guys

@Skidsdev Relatively.

1:28 PM
Relatively.

@dzaima cool

Q: Generate basis elements of the Steenrod algebra

HoodA sequence of positive integers is called admissible if each integer is at least twice the next one. So for instance [7,2,1] is admissible because \$7 \geq 2*2\$ and \$2 \geq 2*1\$. On the other hand, [3,2] is not admissible because \$3 < 2*2\$. The degree of a sequence is the total of it's entr...

@AdmBorkBork Off hand, you know of a way to force output from inside of a for loop? I.e. for(;$RIGHT_HERE){}

2:57 PM
No, not off-hand.

Bummer. I wasn't expecting a simple way but would've been pleasantly surprised

why tf can I not Set-Content '/dev/stdout'
Set-Content : Invalid argument
At line:1 char:9
+ "bar" | Set-Content /dev/stdout

+ CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (:) [Set-Content], IOException

4:48 PM
@Pavel How the fug?

1 hour later…
6:07 PM
@Pavel I'm pretty sure because Set-Content tries to lock the file for editing before replacing the content in the file? I don't think /dev/stdout functions like a file?

I seem to remember having seen, at some point, a bounty for the use of itertools in Python in a winning answer; does anyone know if that's still active, and if so, where I can find the relevant post?

A: List of bounties with no deadline

feersumPython golf: Is itertools ever the answer? I offer a 500 reputation bounty to the first user to demonstrate that his/her solution to an existing question using itertools is shorter than any solution which does not import itertools. To compete, the user must first nominate the answer (in chat or ...

Thanks!
Hmm, there's a post date restriction unfortunately

you could always ping feersum and ask

8:53 PM
@feersum It's about this answer: codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/186432/82577. Beats the other Python answer in a landslide. I'm less pleased with it now that I've had to sacrifice 14 bytes to fix a mistake though.
