@NewMainPosts they literally just copied their assignment directly with the email and everything smh

you know, maybe we should bring back code trolling, but only when questions like that come up

Brb code trololing

11:13 PM
Guys are you proud of me

@DestructibleWatermelon What is that? Where you answer with awful code that doesn't work
Or worse, does something else?

something like that

Code trolled
Updated code troll @DestructibleWatermelon
Actually wait use this:

in the main of your class use

`for (;;) printf(" \t\b\b\b\b\b\b");`

Trust me. It really works and is super fast. It is also really condensed for your convince.

_Trust me_ I am a programmer
heheh

"How do you open your invertory?"
"Alt-f4"

yeup
Hwo to g3t a st0ck of diamands.?

"Alf-F4"

-XXxxgamertagn00bgangstaxxXX left the game

for(;;)printf("\a")
Play some music

I reckon the best part of code trolling to questions like that is that if they are too lazy to even take out the due date from the challenge, I imagine they wouldn't check the code

Yup
Going to wait a bit
for it to burn

The \a stands for "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!"

@NathanMerrill @BusinessCat @Poke @PeterTaylor @MistahFiggins @muddyfish Thanks everyone for the ideas, I'm sure I'll be able to use quite a lot of those. :)

11:30 PM
@DJMcMayhem Said e-mail has now been sent a screenshot of the page and my wishes for luck in catching the would-be cheater.

@ATaco MY EERS! RIP HEDFONE!

Is it possible to replace my Motherboard's Beeper with a pre-programed speaker with my own scream?

@PeterTaylor haha

Guys can someone tell me what I was told on the homework question?

@PeterTaylor Ohhhhh

11:32 PM
It was removed so I can't check

> @ChristopherPeart We are not malicious coders, nor are we trolls. Don't give new people an example of what we aren't. Thanks! – VoteToClose 1 min ago

@DJMcMayhem Probably better for reading. >.>

Ah thanks

I got to +1 your comment seconds before you cast the final delete vote, haha

@PeterTaylor Did you get the username in the screenshot?

11:33 PM
but my code is innocent! I copied it right of the web!
:P

And yet...

Brb code trololing

That should teach them a hard lesson

I don't particularly blame him.
Blatently "Do my homework" on a puzzle site.

I mean, think about it

@DJMcMayhem ;) Don't give him too hard a time. That was a pretty troll-worthy post, even if it isn't super helpful to our site's rep.

11:35 PM
its obviously kidding around

You're gonna get trolled

What I don't get is why people come here when SO is so much bigger

if the kid used the obvious troll code he would only have himself to blame

@VoteToClose Peter was the expert troll here. ;)

11:36 PM
@MistahFiggins I'll bet you there's a question on SO that just got closed and deleted with the same content.

I was thinking about doing the same thing

I never saw the email in the post, soo...

I still think my code was innocent. I plead the 89th!

@DJMcMayhem It's the correct thing to do.

Wait, there it is. xD

11:37 PM
@VoteToClose Yeah. And then the vote to close reason sometimes tells them to go back to SO

Crossing my fingers to get an annoyed comment on one of my posts about how I BSOD him/her/he/she/it/them/they

@PeterTaylor Can you show us the content of the email maybe

(Gotta cover my bases)

> Your question is off-topic on this site. Please have your question closed on stack-overflow instead.

@DJMcMayhem Accurate.

11:38 PM
@ChristopherPeart Really? I don't want to BSOD anyone

It wouldn't BSOD

> We are not malicious coders
@ChristopherPeart Obv not but still.

@VoteToClose Hehehehhe

"You should not go to SO, this 'question' doesn't belong anywhere.. Maybe you should fix your 'question' so that it fits on SO instead of thinking it's the site that's the problem"
A little harsh but...

The only "Malicious" code I write is in batch
I often crash my computer

11:40 PM
We need a close type that's "Your question is not fit for SE."

But I do not give them to people to try and do anything
I cover my bases

Q: Is code trolling on homework questions OK?

Christopher Pearthttp://codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/109337/java-program-for-build-report That is a homework question. It has been closed. Am I allowed to troll the asker with innocent code snippets? Ya know just things that will troll them harmlessly?

And don't damage anything or anyone.

@NewMetaPosts Can we get to -15

@NewMetaPosts @MartinEnder +1 for your answer. May I request an <h1> on your first word?

11:42 PM
For the record, there is no rep changes on meta, yes?

@MistahFiggins No rep changes on meta. :P
I hate negatory question semantics. :I

Tried to downvote my question :P

@ATaco Well I could have done that myself :P I was asking cause it seems like a silly/trivial edit

@VoteToClose Yeah, I realized after I posted it and got 2 answers saying "yeah" and "nope", meaning the same thing

11:44 PM
@MistahFiggins English is at fault here, don't worry. :P

darned English
I mean, really.
Speaking of languages, for the Spanish speakers out there: would "I invite her to the cafe" be "Yo la invito al cafe" or "Yo le invito al cafe"
Or something else entirely?

@MistahFiggins la, it's not reflexive.
An example of using le would be "Le lo gusta", because it's a reflexive verb with a third person "target".
(iirc)

So you would use a direct object pronoun, not an indirect in this situation?
Wouldn't it be "Se lo gusta"?

It's been years since I've done Spanish
I'm not fit for this any longer. xD

"le(s) + lo(s)/la(s)" -> "se + lo(s)/la(s)"
I think

11:55 PM
wat

In spanish, if you have an indirect object pronoun in the 3rd person, followed by a direct object pronoun, you change the indirect to "se" so it sounds better
No one wants to have to say "le lo lee"

A: Is code trolling on homework questions OK?

DennisBe Nice That's Stack Exchange's prime directive. Trolling someone, for whatever reasons you may think you have, is not OK. My favorite part of the Be Nice page says the following. Your tone should match the way you'd talk in person with someone you respect and whom you want to respect you. I...

Welp
Dennis is hunting me down
