This challenge is in honor of the tacky Christmas lights at my in laws' house.
The challenge is to create a graphical output showing the Christmas decoration in "real time".
The video (gif or other format) will have n-by-m vertical and horizontal "lights". 5 <= m,n <= 40. The frame size and r...
I, as a programmer, decided that I needed a language specifically for basic maths. No one quite knows why, but I did. So I create MathScript™.
The language itself works like this:
Only 1 integer can be stored by the program, this is referred to as the Variable and is the only data which can be ...
> Warning Steam is a closed source application whose runtime relies on a 2012 Ubuntu release for binary compatibility. It breaks regularly on openSUSE:Tumbleweed rolling release as it doesn't play well together with a modern system dependencies.
@Dennis I'm not sure what they mean by the former part of the sentence but the application itself is 32-bit which is what I assume they're referring to
Not usually a big deal but you might need some 32-bit versions of dependencies
Nah, having 32-bit and 64-bit runtime libraries at the same time shouldn't be a problem. If Stream requires certain versions though, and those are from 2012...
@quartata I usually just go with the Windows in a KVM (headless), with GPU passthrough. Then Steam InHome Streaming on the linux side. Has the advantage than I can also play from any other PC in my LAN.
Flaming Pancakes! code-golfmath
For this challenge, the pancake sorting challenge is now slightly extended. Now to sort the pancakes, not only must you have the sizes of the pancakes in order from smallest to largest (when looking top to bottom) but all burnt sides must be on the bottom. When st...

@PythonMaster If you delete challenges in the Sandbox, please edit them first such that only the title is remaining. Otherwise it get's quite cluttered for the ones who can see all the deleted posts=)
Shell Sort code-golfmath
The shell sort is basically an improved insertion sort. Instead of using insertion sort on the entire list, shell sort breaks the list into sub-lists and then uses insertion sort on each sub-list. Once that is finished, insertion sort is then used on the entire list sin...
@PythonMaster I think this is not very well suited. Usually we define what input should be mapped to what output, not how it is done, because this is just calling for loopholes.
@PythonMaster It seems you haven't participated in a single challenge, I recommend doing so before writing challenges, just to get a feeling for what works and what doesn't work
The thing here is that I don't quite understand how to golf. I understand regular coding but golfing seems really weird and a whole lot of characters to memorize
@flawr In Python 2, one tab is equivalent to eight spaces, so you can use one space for the first identation level, one tab for the second, one space and one tab for the third, etc.
@AshwinGupta Yes, one space is sufficient. But for the second indentation level, you can use a tab instead of two spaces, which saves a byte. tio.run/nexus/…
They annoy me when they interfere with my workflow, which is the case on main, but not really in chat. That's not specific to small caps though, but to all characters I can't type and am thus forced to copy-pasta.
