@Geobits hai, i watch
@AlexA. 9.7th graders*
Actually... all of my friends and I are pretty close to 9.7th graders, haha
Rounds to 10th grade.
04:00
I'm guessing flesch-kincaid
Most of the way through the 9th grade school year
@AlexA. Only 9 if you use the stupid floor function... >.<
@Doorknob Oh, that's right, you're 15. I keep forgetting; thinking you're grown
Careful, if we raise the reading level too much, Doorknob won't be allowed to read it.
@ZachGates He has grown. Grown more beautiful, I mean.
04:01
@Maltysen I'm using the one Undo linked here:
118
Q: Our words are too complicated. Let's make them simpler!

Undo TL;DR: Our wording is complex, and hard for people from other languages to read. Let's make it simpler. Seriously, though, at least read my example at the bottom. For a long time, I've noticed a trend: People from certain countries (which I will refer to, collectively, as Elbonia) seem ...

(That post is a good read, by the way)
@El'endiaStarman ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)?
@El'endiaStarman #awkward
@El'endiaStarman <3
@AlexA. capital 3
*capitol
04:02
^
@AlexA. Elendia is less than 3?
El'endia = Minibits.
@EasterlyIrk ("capitol" actually isn't correct here, was yolk)
> 'Elendia' < 3
< false
@MyHamDJ Apparently not ^
04:03
irb(main):001:0> "El'endia" < 3

This is how a sane language does it. :P
yay math bronze
@Maltysen how do you get the first item of an list if it exists?
04:04
@Maltysen congrats!
@KennyLau In what language?
@KennyLau h
04:04
whoah
triple ninja'd
@KennyLau what should be returned if it doesn't exist?
idk what you mean by "if it exists"
ninja'd
.xhQ[default value]
[] -> (nothing)
04:05
do you mean like a or?
what is "nothing"?
["hi"] -> "hi"
@Doorknob Baby "don't" hurt me
Don't hurt "me"
@AlexA. No "more"
@AlexA. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) "don't"
04:05
._.
( ._ʖ.)
@KennyLau (but really, what is "nothing"? Pyth doesn't have a "nothing" value)
@AlexA. that is a little disturbing
i think i got it thanks @Doorknob @Maltysen @AlexA. @Downgoat
unicode abuse eleven
@KennyLau no thanks for me :(
goat rekt
@KennyLau My pleasure
04:07
@Downgoat No soup for you :P
NO SOUP FOR GOAT CONFIRMADO?!
No, we don't cater to goats.
unless with human supervision
@Doorknob It should
@Doorknob well technically there is None
04:17
Is there such thing as a loaded statement?
A persuasive statement portrayed as a fact?
you mean like this?: "you stopped beating your wife"
Yeah like
"Hey Joe, I see you've stopped beating your wife."
anyone who speaks J here?
@KennyLau I speak ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklnopqrstuvwxyz
04:23
lol
@Downgoat so you speak in all caps?
@Maltysen see update
@Maltysen How to golf this? sm*d/<Q=hZd
what type of input is Q?
I feel like the <Q=hZ is too lengthy
a string
04:26
try using enumerate
s=concat(), m=map(lambda d,sequence), /=#occurences(str,str), <=prefix(str,num)
enumerate?
wait
ah ok
*d/d is the same as @d
s.e@b<Qhk
is this correct? @KennyLau
@??
without the @ they have the same number of characters
Which @?
@ <seq> <num> Index into the sequence. Modular wrapping. A[B % len(A)] in Python.
@ <dict> <any> Index into the dict. A[B] in Python.
@ <col> <col> Intersection. Filter B on presence in A.
@ <num> <num> Root. A ** (1/B) in Python.
04:30
wait aren't you counting the number of occurences of d
and multiplying by d
where d is a single-character string
s.e@<Qhkb
is that right?
which @?
the third one?
yeah
is s.e@b<Qhk right?
/ <str> <str> Count occurrences of B in A.
yes it is
04:32
yeah @b just gets you all ocrruences of b in the string for single char b
what does @ mean at all?
oh ok
for multiple len seqs it does setwise intersecition
in python same as & on sets
thanks :)
Maltysen for taking out two bytes
Why would @"ab""abcaabbc" produce "abaabb"?
wait huge golf
whaaaaaaaaaaat
04:35
down to 6 char
s@VQ._
boom
What the brainfuck?
._ gives sucessive prefixes
on implicit input
@Maltysen ._.
what does @V even mean
@KennyLau then I vectorize intersection on the prefixes
with the input string
and then sum all the intersections
04:37
wtb
its still your algorithm, just shifted around and really short
...
credits to Maltysen for taking off 5 bytes
to understand V trying using +V @KennyLau
like +V[1 2 3 5)[4 7 8 3)
I think I get it, thanks.

Yay I have a gold badge! Granted, it's the "you need to get a life" badge, but it's still a nice thing!
Congrats!
Getting really close to Electorate too...
@Mego Nice, PPCG has officially take your soul
RDFOTD
@MyHamDJ This seems like a fantastic idea. I'll have to try it sometime.
@Doorknob are you mad of brass? ^^^
05:13
@Dennis RDFOTD?

Random Doorknob Fact Of The Day
Anonymous
@Downgoat I never had one to begin with
oh okay
@Mego is that because penguins don't have souls?
05:15
@Maltysen I guess the lack of a soul comes with flightlessness
ah true
Anonymous
@Maltysen No it's because I gave it up in exchange for programming power
Anonymous
In hindsight I should've just traded it for money
@Mego you can do that?
you can't make money off of something worthless :P
Entire industries are built on the opposite premise.

05:22
Yeah I mean look at ECMA
@Dennis oh like JavaScript
ninja'd
Anonymous
Actually I was referring to the fact that ECMA is a company whose goal is to make money from writing standards

@Doorknob That post and the answers. This is one of those times where I'm glad that we have a Q/A format instead of a blog/comment format.

Only on this site is that a good statement
I should post that on the code reviewer's chat and see what happens
Anonymous
Ooh I'm 5 votes away from getting Electorate
@Downgoat your spaces are weird
Anonymous
I could get a gold badge double whammy
05:27
@Mego if you upvote enough of my answers within the next 10 minutes you will get a free 1000 rep boost :P
</scam>
@Mego if you upvote my answers, my nigerian prince relative will give you 100,000 nigerian reputation
@Doorknob: That said, one thing I noted from the answer where they analyzed other pieces of text around Meta is that the average reading level does seem to be roughly around 9. In that sense, the PPCG welcome post is just fine. Also, I put effort into making it clear and to-the-point, which I think will help more than lowering its reading level.
but he needs a little rep to access his SE account first
@Maltysen In the form of a bounty, right?
@Maltysen only giv ssn, home adres, credit card info, and all pasword

It actually went Fanatic badge -> ECMA -> Electorate badge -> Nigerian rep scam for avocad juic fermula
@Mego too late to edit
what's the best way to get the largest substring in a string that is in an array?
Is it possible to do this in something better than O(n^2) time?
Anonymous
Alright, I should get Electorate when the badges update next
@Mego congrats on the Electorate badge (when you get it)!
Anonymous
@Downgoat Thanks! (it just showed up)
Anonymous
05:52
Now I just need the election page to update so my candidate score will go up :P
I haven't voted for #2 and #3 yet... I should decide on that soon
Anonymous
I knew my choices long before the election started
are you one of them?
Anonymous
I don't vote and tell :P
I'm voting for: 1. Martin 2. I don't know 3. I don't know
Anonymous
05:59
Though I certainly wouldn't turn down a vote from you, I'm not going to try to woo you into voting for me :P
@Maltysen
Why does `=N"abcd"XN0\dN` produce the below?
`dbcd`
`abcd`
Hmm, should I vote for a bird with flight or without... :P
cuz you replace the first element of N with "d" and print it, then print the original N again
strings are immutable
whaaaaaaaat
...
just like in Python
06:01
so I have to chop it?
for what?
if I want to replace
no, just assign the value to N again
...
oh ok thanks
or better, use augmented assignment
06:02
oh ok
"=Xd0\dN" ?
yeah I think
All the candidates are so qualified, I don't know which one to pick ;-;
Me me me me me! :P (I kid.)
Anonymous
If all of the candidates are well-qualified and good choices, does it really matter who you pick?
^ Good way to put it.
Anonymous
If there is no wrong choice, then any choice is a right choice.
Ok, I got Dennis and Elendia
@Dennis Thanks :)
@Downgoat I just got Mego, Doorknob, and myself, in that order. :P
Anonymous
Amusingly enough, I got 2 of my 3 choices when I spun it twice
06:11
I got only one of my three choices.
Anonymous
However, the third spin was not any of my choices
Anonymous
Maybe after the election I might disclose my votes, but for the time being I don't want my choices to influence anyone else's
Anonymous
I do agree with the goat, though. All of the candidates are good choices.
Anonymous
And I'm happy with the support that I got during the primary
06:15
I keep getting Alex and Mego on the wheel so I guess I'll be voting for them for now
Anonymous
Normally I'd object that the reason you're voting for me is because RNGesus said so but meh
I'd vote for all the candidates because they are all great, so I needed to use the wheel to narrow down my choices
Anonymous
omg he said I'm great keep it cool Yeah they are pretty great nice work
Anonymous
Huh, I missed Calvin withdrawing
Did he ever nominate himself?
Anonymous
06:20
Oh wait he never nominated
Anonymous
Why was I thinking that he did?
He's a high-profile member of the community.
you did not miss me withdrawing?
nobody wants me as a mod :'(
@Optimizer I'd vote for you as a mod!
(if the RNG lands on you)
i'd vote for the llamaMartin as a mod
06:22
@Downgoat downvote, right? Couldn't expect upvote from a Downgoat
I can upvote, I just can't up_goat_
@Maltysen wat.
up town goat it up
girls hit goats, hallelujah
that came out really weird >_<
Does anyone know what the 3-Pin IC footprint thing is called
@Maltysen .___.
Anonymous
@Downgoat The joke is that, because Optimizer's avatar is wearing a scarf (like Martin), he's the llama version of Martin.
06:26
oh
Optimizer is llama sock of Martin?!?!
@Downgoat But don't you have the userscript?
Hello
@MarsUltor yeah
@zyabin101 hi
@Downgoat Can't you change the userscript to goat mode to upgoat?
oh, yeah, but it keeps getting reset every so often
I don't know why
06:28
The userscript?
yeah, all the userscript's settings
Someone broke it
Anonymous
Oh that reminds me I need to open yet another issue on the github page
vihanb:~/workspace $ node test.js
'!=='
this is the first time I've written JS and it worked on the first try
Anonymous
I read that incorrectly
Anonymous
06:31
"You've written JS before though... Oh wait I'm the fool."
Anonymous
My brain inserted an imaginary comma after the "JS"
Anonymous
My brain tends to automatically add commas where they could go because people on the internet tend to not use commas when they should
Anonymous
"Let's eat grandpa" and such
the worst one I've heard is:
> Let's eat goat
commas people!
I'm not sure how much better "Let's eat, goat." is.
06:35
@El'endiaStarman At least it isn't like eating a goat. It's like eating with a goat.
Anonymous
I think the latter may be worse
Anonymous
Goats have horrible table manners
@Mego ಠ_ಠ
Anonymous
And they suck at using trampolines
06:37
My table manners are perfectly fine. eats entire plate as a whole

@Mego ??
@Mego the goat simulator goat is the only goat dumber than Chatgoat
Anonymous
@Downgoat No not that goat, I mean Russel
Anonymous
The GoatSim goat is incredibly intelligent. It regularly breaks physics.
Russel?
Anonymous
06:38
Watch the video
10/10 would trampoline again
Anonymous
Dumb goats aren't trampolining right. They should be getting way more height.
Anonymous
I've seen goats jump on top of buildings from trampolines.
i have seen goats defy gravity and climb up a vertical cliff
Anonymous
@Optimizer I've seen horses do that too, so it's not that special.
06:41
really?
llamas can't do that..
:(
in real life!
^^ Proof goats are the best artiodactylas
Anonymous
Oh who cares about real life?
Anonymous
Besides, Skyrim and GoatSim are 100% accurate depictions of the real world.
06:44
GoatSim's physics are just about as realistic as Chatgoat's chance of passing the Turing test
Anonymous
It's far more accurate than your typing
._. I cannot argue with that
@Downgoat s/change of passing/score on the/
You can't measure physics in percentages
Anonymous
Things goats are good at: bouncing on trampolines, flying, sacrificing humans for Baphomet, going to space
Things goats are not good at: typing
@Mego I was just about to question your use of the word "suck" when it came to using trampolines. Then I got it.
Anonymous
06:47
@MarsUltor He's saying that Chatgoat doesn't have a realistic chance of passing the Turing test.
Anonymous
@El'endiaStarman Wait I made a pun?
@Mego No, I just got to see a goat using a trampoline awesomely first, then the real-life sucky one. :P
@Mego Oh, right. It's got a fictional chance though
@El'endiaStarman In real-life I am great at trampolining
Anonymous
@El'endiaStarman Oh ok. I was afraid I had made a pun without realizing it. I wouldn't want a great pun to be made punintentionally.
Anonymous
06:49
@MarsUltor Its chance is a complex number.
@Downgoat down wards trampolining
g'night, all!
@Mego but complex is the opposite of real, not the opposite of realistic
Anonymous
Huh, interesting math thought: there is a bijection between the real numbers and the complex numbers.
Anonymous
@MarsUltor The reals are a proper subset of the complex numbers.

Q: website for lowest bidding auction

Karthik RaviCreate a website to auction things. The lowest unique bidder should be considered as the winner. Your website should contain an admin login and user login.

@Mego TIL goat simulator uses complex numbers often in its physics
Anonymous
@MarsUltor Well of course, complex numbers are everywhere.
@NewMainPosts this level of shamelessness in outsourcing, o_O

@NewMainPosts "make ebay plz" There, golfed the spec more
Should have been

we should write one that has lifetime of universe runtimes just for kicks and watch him get fired when he hands it in to his boss
If that wasn't burninated

@MarsUltor I'm not sure what it should have been, but is never the answer.
@Maltysen What do you mean? Just make the logins accept any value :P

@Maltysen O(INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR MEANINGFUL ANSWER)
Also, 0/10 no winning criteria
