@Timwi Funciton? Didn't YOU invent that?

The language I’m thinking of was inspired by Funciton.
And it’s unfinished, unlike Funciton.

@Timwi @overactor

Ah, that’s right. @overactor

@Timwi vanilla coke D:

Yep, love it. Was really annoyed when it was discontinued in Britain! :)

8:06 PM
the only possible choice of cola when you're in East Germany is Vita Cola.

Vita Cola - disgusting. Fritz Cola or Afri Cola all the way.

Y'all need some Coca-Cola Freestyle

Fritz Cola is pretty good, yeah
Can anyone explain Club Mate to me? It’s disgusting, but everyone here seems to love it.

@Timwi I don't. Has a very specific taste. Like it or hate it :)

@Timwi it tastes like a liquid ash tray
@mınxomaτ I'm afraid you're wrong.

Huh, according to The All-Knowing Wikipedia, they're starting to roll out Freestyle machines in the UK.
Coca-Cola Freestyle is a touch screen soda fountain introduced by The Coca-Cola Company in 2009. The machine features more than 125 different Coca-Cola drink products, and custom flavors. The machine allows users to select from mixtures of flavors of Coca-Cola branded products which are then individually dispensed. The machines are currently located in major Coca-Cola partners and retail locations as a part of a gradual and ongoing deployment. == DesignEdit == The cabinetry was designed by the Italian automotive design firm Pininfarina, via their Pininfarina Extra industrial and product design...

OK, I swear I didn't see the messages on Club Mate when I added it to the poll.

My telepathy powers grow stronger

> Forgetting Tonic Water.

@mınxomaτ meh

And Mr Pib

8:12 PM
@Rainbolt ew

@quartata I like how you have only "Root Beer" whereas all the rest are brand-name-specific

Anyways, note that it is a multi-choice poll
> Ginger Ale/Ginger Beer
So many different types of Root Beer, and they all taste the same so
What the hell Dr Pepper has two votes

Only because there's no Pib

@quartata Yeah, but that doesn't count, because those are the same.
Besides, who tf prefers ginger ale over all other beverages

Did you know that Dr. Pepper makes the world taste better?

8:14 PM
@TimmyD me
@Rainbolt ew
Technically my favorite beverage is tomato juice.
But that's not a soda.

@quartata I ... I'm not sure we can be friends any more

It is, however, a soft drink.

By the way, here is my Google Plus profile picture from like five years ago: lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bmrAzK8OJzg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/…
That's me representing Mr. Pibb

I'm sorry, I tried Dr Pepper once and it tasted like cough syrup.
I just... don't like it.

@quartata If you can find it where you are, Rachel's Ginger Beer is awesome.
@quartata Gross

8:15 PM
Cough Syrup is one of the 23 flavors

@AlexA. dafuq is wrong with you

@quartata That's because you need to mix it with Captain Morgan

@quartata So many things

@TimmyD But then it isn't Dr Pepper
@AlexA. Tomato juice tastes like heaven.

Sure it is -- just enhanced

8:16 PM
I don't see how anyone couldn't like it.

Oh gross, rum in a soda? That sounds way, way too sweet for me.

@TimmyD It's mostly rum by that point
Anyways, my favorite soda is Sierra Mist.
waits to get kick-banned by sprite fans

@AlexA. How have you never heard of rum-n-coke?

@Timwi That's really interesting! Thanks for sharing the link. :) Sorry to hear you got fired from your job though.
@TimmyD Of course I've heard of that. I just don't like it.

@quartata Sierra Mist > Sprite > 7-up

8:18 PM
@TimmyD We can be friends again
I'm glad you understand

@AlexA. Oh. Just your wording made it seem like it was a new concept

I don't really like soda in general; I find it all too sweet. Ginger beer is nice because it's often only lightly sweetened.

@AlexA. Good ginger beer, that is.

The straw poll had Root Beer but not Malzbier. Or Квас for that matter.

@TimmyD Yeah I just realized that. Eh. :P

8:19 PM
If you have a Trader Joe's near you, their Triple Ginger Brew is really good.
Very ginger-y

I have hella Trader Joe's near me.

Gud

Barq's is still the best root beer I've tried

*Barf's

Since all root beer tastes the same to me, I'm not really picky on the brand

8:21 PM
@quartata o.O

I drink soda very rarely, at any rate.

Back when I drank soda, root beer was my favorite.

@TimmyD What?
I mean, they kinda do all taste the same.
Sometimes some are more vanilla-y.

But there's vanilla notes, how much wintergreen is put in, whether chicory root or cinnamon is added ...
Sorry, that sounded kinda snobbish

8:23 PM
The best rootbeer I've had was when I was like 10 and I had a sarsaparilla rootbeer. I remember it being incredibly good, but then again that was 15 years ago.
@TimmyD Sure did. Haha
@TimmyD Sounds like you have a very refined palate, which is neat. :)

@AlexA. For root beer, at least
If I'm going someplace new (like, a restaurant while on a trip), I make it a point to try out a local root beer if they have one

If you find yourself in Issaquah, WA, and someone recommends XXX, it's not worth your time.
I think the sarsaparilla I had was Sioux City brand. I wonder if I could find that again...

@TimmyD Root beer connoisseur eh

@quartata Are you from some place in Europe? Because that could explain it. From what I've heard, because of the prevalence of wintergreen, most Europeans all think that root beer tastes like toothpaste.

@TimmyD No, California

8:27 PM
@AlexA. Sioux City does make pretty good sarsaparilla.

Although I did read Linus Torvalds's amusing rant on root beer a while back.

Who is Linus

I think they do think root bear tastes like toothpaste
@AlexA. Torvalds

Oh, the Linux guy?

I just got a resume that was looking great until I got to the bottom and read "Extra-Circular-Activities"
4

8:28 PM
@Rainbolt LOL

@Rainbolt Autocorrect FTW

@Rainbolt Hey, you never know. He could be part of a research program to square the circle

@Rainbolt That dude doesn't fuck around with ovals. Circles all the way.

@Rainbolt he sounds well-rounded

@KevinW. oh shit gg

8:30 PM
@Rainbolt If it doesn't list hula-hoop aficionado, I am disappointed

So many other little things that bug me all at the very end. A bulleted list with some items that end with period and some that don't

@quartata I find it amusing that you tagged my Lojban question .
3

@ThomasKwa Why?
Oh.
Because it is constructed?

Yes.

Is it more correct to write the expanded phrase followed by the abbreviation, as in "Foo Bar Baz (FBB)", or vice versa, as in "FBB (Foo Bar Baz)"?

8:33 PM
@Rainbolt Depends on the context.

Assuming you then go on to use FBB everywhere else

If the acronym is more well known, list it first.
Remember, parenthesis means that the expression inside of them isn't required to understanding the sentence
I'd say in your case use "FBB (Foo Bar Baz)"

Ah, good rule

I almost exclusively see "Foo Bar Baz (FBB)" with the continuation as "FBB."

@Rainbolt grammar amirite fellas

8:34 PM
Wait your suggestion doesn't follow your own rule
Who the heck knows what FBB stands for

Forlorn baby badgers

@Rainbolt I'm assuming the acronym is more well known, since you said you go on to use it everywhere else

I maintain
1 min ago, by Alex A.
I almost exclusively see "Foo Bar Baz (FBB)" with the continuation as "FBB."

I mean in the remainder of his resume (not like everywhere else in the whole wide world)

8:35 PM
Yeah, I'm aware.

@quartata Hello, aware. I'm Alex.

@AlexA. This would be good if you are defining a unique term in the piece
So like if you say "This is called Foo Bar Baz (FBB)" and then refer to it elsewhere a few times

I think it's good regardless. It just feels right to me.

@AlexA. But

Good point.
I guess my point really was if it was something like "NSA (National Security Agency)"

8:38 PM
My first thought before you edited was no strings attached

"National Security Agency (NSA)"

@Rainbolt hue hue

@Rainbolt huh?

I like the papers that spell out acronyms-that-have-become-words, like radar or laser.

LASER = Lazily Awaiting Something Else, Richard.

8:40 PM
Interestingly enough, if you Google "NSA Acronyms" you end up on Acronymfinder.com
In that list is "National Sex Authority"
If you Google "National Sex Authority", the first result is, again, AcronymFinder.com

its a conspiracy

@AlexA. SMURF = Stop Making Up Random Frivolities

if you look at the top of A, it's a pyramid

@KevinW. heh

confirmed illuminati

8:43 PM
We better call in Nicolas Cage and Tom Hanks

LET LOOSE THE HOUNDS
Or something

@KevinW. If you count the number of distinct line segments in the letter A, you get 5. There were two full Half-Life games. 5-2=3, Half-Life 3 confirmed.

peace out

@AlexA. You really like Half Life huh

But it’s called Hλlf-Life, isn’t it? :) λ has only 3 line segments :)

8:45 PM
@quartata Yes. I rarely play video games (and it's been forever since I've played HL) but it's still my favorite.

I'm waiting eagerly to be thoroughly disappointed by HL3.

Don't say that

@Timwi How many lines do you usually draw when you draw λ? I only draw 2

@Timwi you called?

@TimmyD yay

8:46 PM
@Timwi it has only 2. there is no third! ;)

@Rainbolt I draw 2, then decide that it looks too much like an h and draw it again.
Usually ends up at around 5-6.

@Rainbolt One.

@ThomasKwa wat

Hlambdalf-Life?

@overactor Yes.

8:48 PM
Hlambdaalf
Two a's

all signs that there is no third

@Rainbolt HL/LotR crossover confirmed

HL was revolutionary, HL2 was amazing, EP1 was really flat, and EP2 was better with a strong story but reasonably weak gameplay

Hlambdaalf the Gray

Guardians of Half the Galaxy

8:51 PM
can a mod clear the comments on my CodeBots4 question?

What I think would be really neat would be Valve just quietly adding HL3 to Steam - no preorders, no press release, just let the Internet find it and explode.

@NathanMerrill Sure

the majority of the comments are now out of date

All of them?

I like the theory of Orange Box 2 being in the works

@overactor :O

thank you

8:52 PM
@NathanMerrill np bb xoxo

I like the theory of No Game No Life in the works.. ;_;

L4D3
HL3

@Optimizer I second this

TF3

@AlexA. ^|^| ?

8:53 PM
Portal 3

@Rainbolt you have .. seen NGNL?

They apparently should call it Orange Box 3

@TimmyD that's probably gonna happen

@TimmyD yeah, give Orange Box a run for it

@Optimizer Yup. I like anime like Sword Art, Log Horizon, .hack, etc.

8:53 PM
@overactor I've heard that L4D3 has been confirmed and will be released "some time before HL3."

@Rainbolt sword was only good in the first half of first season .. :(
although when it was good, it was awesome

@AlexA. Which esentially puts no upper limit on when it will be released

ggo was a bit better.

@overactor Yep

@AlexA. what

8:55 PM
lel

@AlexA. It's been confirmed for quite a while. At any rate, we knew about it from the code in Dota 2

/me yawns at Dota

@AlexA. Well, that's ... odd.

I hate the show The Big Bang Theory but I enjoy the memes that make fun of it.

@AlexA. Holy cow, and I thought I was the only one who hated that show.

8:57 PM
Why do you hate it? It's good.
Sometimes

Never

It's asinine. Plus, once you realize 90% of the show is just Sheldon being an ass to everyone, it really loses what little charm it had.

True.
The premise is good though.
It is just the executing.

@Rainbolt saw kekkai sensen?

To me it seems like a show about nerds made by people who aren't nerds.

8:59 PM
@AlexA. I have never watched The Big Bang Theory.
I don't think I'd like it.

@quartata git gud && git dont
