@AlexA. I just don't see how ad revenue for free apps could get you enough money to make it worth it (unless you already had a large population)

Paid apps probably do OK.

And often there will be two versions of an app: A free one which has ads and limited features, and a paid one with extended features and no ads.

That adds incentive to pay for the app, but in the meantime you still get some revenue from the ads on the free version.

I don't know. With Google Play having a pretty large audience now, it just seems like it would make more sense for small developers to just stick with Android. IIRC you just have to pay a $25 fee once.

On a related note, the fact that British people say "adverts" as the colloquial term for "advertisements" drives me nuts.

@quartata It only makes sense to start on Android if you're familiar with the platform. I've only used an Android device once or twice; my friend and my mom have them and that's it.

Nobody wanted to switch from iOS or Android to Windows Phone, so no apps were made. Because there are no apps, nobody wants to switch. And so the vicious cycle continues.

Parsing complex values could be rather annoying in some languages but that's not a bad idea, especially because then you can come up with a way to emulate complex functions without having native complex support.

The length of the representation is going to be larger than about 10 * floor(log10(number) / 3), so I think it's under a million.
