@AlexA. So Edge > IE?

@AlexA. you would rather view the HTML source code than use IE? :P

@Mego Idk what Edge is

Not malware...
It doesn't harm the runner
Just another victim

12:16 AM
@AlexA. not your password tho

Riiiiiiight

Nah, not malware technically
It doesn't harm your computer in any way

12:17 AM
@AlexA. malware is invasive, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware

I know what malware is ;)

@TheDoctor Processing ftw

People actually use Processing?

@AlexA. yeah good luck getting that on your Mac :P

Internet Explorer for Mac (also referred to as Internet Explorer for Macintosh, Internet Explorer Macintosh Edition, Internet Explorer:mac or IE:mac) is a discontinued proprietary web browser developed by Microsoft for the Macintosh platform. Initial versions were developed from the same code base as Internet Explorer for Windows. Later versions diverged, particularly with the release of version 5 which included the cutting edge, fault-tolerant and highly standards-compliant Tasman layout engine. As a result of the five-year agreement between Apple and Microsoft in 1997, it was the default browser...

...
I'm scared

I used to use Safari on Windows back in the day

12:27 AM
it's... a speaker?

A public speaker

@TheDoctor why would anyone vote against executing @Dennis?

At conferences and shit

@Doorknob no it's a hifi amplifier

@phase I would never execute @Dennis.

12:28 AM
@AlexA. ok fine, we'll just lock him away forever

We need to contact PPCG's execution squad.

We should not execute Dennis. He might contain malicious code.

@Doorknob Inferno doesn't always show the timeline. :(
It actually doesn't seem to work consistently on every page.

0 <-- x

That might be an issue with Tampermonkey or Safari permissions though.

12:54 AM
@Calvin'sHobbies Once again, you've found bugs in my interpreter. You're amazing, Calvin.

@AlexA. to be honest I don't even use Inferno :P

@Doorknob ...oh. Why not? You wrote it. :P

because it is not particularly useful

Haha alright then
I installed a userscript manager so that I could try Inferno. Uninstalling everything right now, about to wipe my HDD, sell my car, and sleep in a tent in my back yard.

Seems reasonable

I might eat some beans first

1:17 AM
@BrainSteel Would you mind having a look at this if/when you get some time? You mentioned you recognized an issue with how the code detects mismatched brackets.
If I'm lucky you'll offer to fix it, otherwise if you know to fix it but don't want to or have time to do so, I can do it (you just need to tell me how). Otherwise I'll just leave it.
This is what happens when I try to implement a programming language in a language I don't know.

Haha you just thought it was a trailing letter? :P

^ that and that recursive thing XD

It stands for .A xelA, duh

Obviously.

sigh... I think my all-time longest answer codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/63561/11259

Maybe the longest code golf submission in history.

Wait, it's not in Java!?

or BF!?

I'm sure there's longer, but probably much smater

Q: Wait, but what's e^N?

mmkObjective: The objective is to calculate e^N for some real or imaginary N (e.g. 2, -3i, 0.7, 2.5i, but not 3+2i). This is code golf, so, shortest code (in bytes) wins. So, for example: N = 3, e^N = 20.0855392 N = -2i, e^N = -0.416146837 - 0.9092974268i The letter i shouldn't be capitalized...

> smater

@Pietu1998 not anymore

If that was intended to be "smarter," that's quite ironic.

@AlexA. So my longest code-golf is 868068 bytes. Should I be worried?
4

1:29 AM
@AlexA. I have nothing to say

@Pietu1998 Please see a doctor
@DigitalTrauma :D

@AlexA. perhaps just one sed replacement too many, thats all

:P

How do I change the % in a milestone on GitHub? :P

I didn't know milestones existed until yesterday

1:32 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ git gud

Went to pay my credit card bill, realized payment is 4 days overdue, myocardial infarction, realized minimum payment was $0.

what.

(Myocardial infarction == heart attack)

1:35 AM
but i don't understand credit cards

Ok
Can't help you there

Anonymous
@TheDoctor Credit card: you spend money you don't have and then have to pay it back with interest

just gibe bitcoinz pls and thx

@Mego Only if you don't pay the full amount.

@TheDoctor How about Dogecoins?

1:37 AM
Here's how to properly use credit cards: don't spend money you don't have.

@Mego Or in my case, you spend money you do have so that you can always pay it back and have a perfect credit score. :D

^ that too.

@Pietu1998 yes that too

Anonymous
@AlexA. That makes too much sense

You're right, I should stop
@isaacg Did you know that Doorknob made a REPL interface for Pyth?

1:43 AM
Where?
Awesome!

Anonymous
Wait, Pyth didn't have a REPL before an online IDE?

Also blatant advertisement:

Discussion about golfing in Seriously and its successor, Actua...

@Mego Pyth is designed for whole programs only. The IDE runs whole programs.

1:47 AM
@isaacg Ahh

Anonymous
The REPL was the first thing I made for Seriously :P

Anonymous
It makes testing stuff very nice

@AlexA. I see, you need to clone pyth into the directory called pyth.

Oh, okay. Good to know.

I just finished making a program that takes a Pyth program and creates its abstract syntax tree

1:50 AM
Does the interpreter not do that?

Nope
It has no intermeditae representation at all

Pyth5 does though, right?

I think there's the alternate interpreter that does that

Yeah
But for now, there's this.

1:52 AM
Yay for making a stack-based language, where ASTs are trivial

@Pietu1998 No, because it means you've never done anything in Unary, which is a good sign :)
Also for 2D languages: what's an AST? :P

Q: Simplify binary

The_Basset_HoundChallenge Given a binary number as input through any means, "simplify" the number using a full program or a function. Input [binary] binary is a number in binary that is over 0. Output Take the input, convert it to base 10 without using a builtin, then if that number contains only 1s and...

@Sp3000 I created Lenguage. Does that count? :D

@AlexA. I think this solves the mismatched brackets problem.

Oh god, I forgot about that

1:54 AM
@BrainSteel :DDDDDD

@Sp3000 AST?

Anonymous
@El'endiaStarman Abstract Syntax Tree

Anonymous
Compiler stuffs

@AlexA. :D Should be a fairly easy fix. If the open_quotes counter is ever negative, something has clearly gone wrong.

1:55 AM
.....yeah, 2D languages don't really have one. :P

In computer science, an abstract syntax tree (AST), or just syntax tree, is a tree representation of the abstract syntactic structure of source code written in a programming language. Each node of the tree denotes a construct occurring in the source code. The syntax is "abstract" in not representing every detail appearing in the real syntax. For instance, grouping parentheses are implicit in the tree structure, and a syntactic construct like an if-condition-then expression may be denoted by means of a single node with three branches. This distinguishes abstract syntax trees from concrete syntax...

Anonymous
It's more like an abstract syntax digraph for 2D langs

@BrainSteel Have I told you lately that I love you? Come here for an awkward hug.
4

^^ I know it as syntax rather than symbol, but same thing yeah

Anonymous
@Sp3000 Err yah, syntax is right, I used the wrong symbol

1:56 AM
@Mego It was a syntax error

Anonymous
@AlexA. You're a syntax error

@AlexA. Just bought my plane ticket to Seattle. This better be a damn good hug.

@Mego D:

@BrainSteel Oh it will be. It'll be awkward as fuck because that's how I roll.

1:57 AM
Actually the concept of ASTs kinda breaks down for self-modfying code in general :P

Good. Two awkwards makes a not-awkward.

@BrainSteel Sure let's go with that
