As an aside, when @DigitalTrauma leaves chat, the icon should be a red -1 rather than his usual green +1.

Auto-updating avatars would be nice. I'd set mine to up/down depending on my last vote on main.
A gif avatar would be cool
I dunno, people go crazy with those things. You'd have to size-limit it at the least.
@MartinBüttner Hmm interesting... does it work for any length, or does it exploit the short sequence lengths or some other property?
yeah it assumes that there are no more than 5 elements in a sequence (I think that's necessary, because without a stack there's only finite storage in the system)
I have finished the entire first segment chart and the secret level now... the sequence sorter was a bitch... I'm cherry picking some simpler levels from the second set now, but there are some really nasty ones in there... I'm not entirely sure I'll get 100% on this game :D (I do want to read the rest of the plot though...)
21:22
@aditsu Nevermind, I was using its instead of longs, so it maxed out.
@Sp3000 have you done some of the image ones yet?
Not yet, unfortunately. I was going to last night but after playing Life is Strange I just crashed and only woke up now
Do you guys think "Write a D**n Censor" is appropriate?
Depends what the two asterisks are :P
Dawn? Write a Dawn Censor I call Arduino!
21:29
good point its ambiguous which is the whole point of the challenge
"Write a D*mn Censor"
It depends on what the censor does.
"Specifically, for each word in the offensive list, you have to censor as many letters as possible while remaining completely unambiguous."
oooo sounds fun!
"As many letters as possible" with respect to what? Is there a dictionary?
yeah
a dictionary of all words in the language and subset of that which has all the offensive words.
21:32
You could just censor all vowels, as that's what most people do anyways.
(If you're worried about appropriateness you could switch the theme from censoring profanity to copyright or something, e.g. M****y Mouse)
Am I the only one that can't access meta?
Meta seems fine for me atm
No problems here.
I get a DNS error...
21:41
ipconfig /flushdns fixes it all
Not if you're using Linux. :P
What sort of error
error: -105 (ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED)
I already cleared the hist cache in Chromium and digging from a terminal works fine. Strange...
weird
iirc certain linux distros ship with a local dns cacher ootb
It get weirder. dig works, nslookup doesn't.
21:48
o.o, querying same server?
Yup.
Well, that's enough for you to put it in /etc/hosts as a temporary workaround...

@Maltysen What if, instead of censoring a subset of offensive words, you're given a text (say a paragraph from a book), and you have to censor every word that can be censored while remaining unique?
(still with a dictionary)
It's working now. I'm still wondering what went wrong though...
@PeterTaylor Is it me or have we already had a censoring program in the sandbox?

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

JwostyCross platform... You wish. Write a program that will produce different behavior on as many different platforms as you can. 1 point for each differing platform, including. Programs that use a mechanism intended for determining the target/executing platform (e.g. through platform compilation stat...

Interesting.
(it's in Finnish, but apparently a *.stackexchange.com cert doesn't work for meta)
No, because meta.codegolf doesn't match *.
HTTPS isn't supported on child metas.
adds exception and just deals with it
That would require a *.*.stackexchange.com certificate.
22:41
@Dennis Which isn't possible, IIRC.
Specifications for existing application technologies are not clear or consistent about the allowable location of the wildcard character, such as whether it can be: [...] included as all or part of more than one label (e.g., *.*.example.com)

:P
I have *no idea what you're talking about.
22:57
@Sp3000 turns out a lot of the levels in the second half look worse than they are, especially once you've already done things like finding a minimum or perform division a couple of times.
Oh?
the most annoying ones are those where you need to shift a sequence repeatedly between two stacks... the synchronisation is such a pain
but there are quite a lot of levels in the second set that don't have any stacks
It'd be amazing if there was a sandbox with an infinite number of nodes :P
that would be a criminal level of nerd sniping
Final challenge: Interpret BF! sits back and watches players suffer
23:23
@Pietu1998 Oh man I just noticed that!
23:47
@Maltysen What bases do you usually use for string compression?
@Winny I saw your messages in #racket, BTW. I hope you keep up with the Racket golfing!
It's one of my languages of choice.
@Vioz- I'm sorry you had a terrible experience with Racket. It's probably the course that sucks, because the language is awesome!!
@Winny Also, if you don't already know Alexis King (lexi-lambda on IRC), I should introduce you two.
thanks! It's interesting because Racket is quite feature complete so I can do stuff with it, like golfing.

I've exchanged highlights with Alexis, is rather helpful
