9:01 PM
guys, I did it
I made a 99 interpreter in TI-BASIC
and it fucking works

nice :)
but who is gonna check your implementation now? :P

do I see a new TimTech in making ? :P

@Runer112 For what model?

you don't need to check it
I'll be uploading screenshots demonstrating it working
TI-84+

@Runer112 That's what Timtech said.

9:11 PM
I doubt he said the uploading screenshots part

(I don't actually know if that's true.)

@Runer112 I can only test with a TI-83+ :(

if he did, he clearly didn't do so

@Runer112 I'm just messing with you. ;)

sorry, it requires a command that was added in a new 84+ OS :/
well
if you want to run any instructions with an arity greater than one, that is
you could still run programs that consist only of I/O
hmm, these screenshots are animated GIFs, but I'm going to need to do something about their speed
since the more complicated programs take a really long time to run lol

9:16 PM
hm, I should do a challenge about colour spaces

You know that tag graphing tool from earlier?
I think I figured out how the connection weights are done, somewhat.

I'll have to upload it later, though
but it is coming

The width of the line refers to the number of questions, while the darkness of the line refers the statistical connection (the number of questions vs random chance).

and I will be up front about the restrictions of my entry due to it being a shitty calculator language

@MartinBüttner color spaces ?

9:22 PM
you know... RGB, HSV, CMYK, etc.

what is spaces in them ?
conversion ?

"Color spaces" are what they are called.
They are like different coordinate systems for a 3D "space" of color possibilities.

yeah this ^

oh ok.
so what is the challenge about ?

I'll sort that out at some point
maybe I'll add it to the random golf of the day
there is a challenge with "random" and "color" in the title, but the challenge isn't much about randomness
alternatively, colour space conversion would be an option
or something more interesting, where you could use the colour space as an actual 3d space and so something like random walks or whatever...
my point was just there are a lot of possibilities and it doesn't seem like they have been explored very thoroughly on PPCG so far
another idea would be averaging in colours in various spaces

9:32 PM
@MartinBüttner you should do RGB <-> Lab conversion, it's fairly tricky (especially if you want it to be fast)
I wrote an implementation a few years ago

10:00 PM
I guess I'm going to be a "published author" sometime soon.
One of my essays is being published along with some essays by other students.
Not really that monumental of an accomplishment, but most people probably don't ever get anything published.
If I were to change my avatar, could I ever change it back to the default?

just save it to your hard drive, just in case
also nice job on the essay :)

My essay was about public school funding in my state.
Which I reused from a different assignment.

10:17 PM
uh oh, self-plagiarism ;)

1 hour later…
11:42 PM
My school is holding a "speak-out day" for people who know a foreign language.
Are there any languages you guys think I can learn in a week?

no
(well unless you're some sort of savant, that is)

There's always that little part of me that wishes I could speak a foreign language, but then there's always that slightly larger part of me that is too lazy to try.
@MartinBüttner You can't prove that I'm not!

honestly learning a foreign language without constantly being exposed to it takes a lot of dedication

A few years ago, I took French as my language credit.
Then I met the required number of language credits and quit.

@PhiNotPi You can try a programming language like Ook :P

11:50 PM
I could start speaking in Java.

Java's not foreign. Ook is a programming language for orangutans.

"system dot out dot print good morning"

syntax error

Foreign (comparatively-speaking, I guess) languages have always fascinated me, but only from the more mathematical syntax and grammar perspective.
@MartinBüttner Yeah, I would have to say "semicolon" at the end of every sentence too.

same here... well I find etymology and pronunciation interesting, too... but learning vocabulary is just such a chore :D
@PhiNotPi you also forgot the parentheses and the quotes

11:56 PM
And the capitalization.

system dot out dot print paren quote good morning unquote close paren semi-colon
Capitalization is pretty hard to pronounce.

It gives new meaning to the phrase "verbose language."

python: print quote good morning unquote
