@cairdcoinheringaahing but is it longer than sys.maxsize?
I was struggling to golf down my scrabble scorer answer, when I suddenly had the brainwave of processing one board instead of two - by combining the two boards, with the old board in lower case and the new letters in upper case. This in itself already reduced the size of my answer, but it allowed me to totally rewrite my approach and I ended up under two fifths of the size of my original solution.

i personally would think its cool as hell if it was golfy for some reason

@cairdcoinheringaahing Who said I'm a sock? ;p

I had to open a new answer, upload an image, and copy+paste the imgur link to post that

Who are you?

Allyx, a new user to the site who is in no way associated with lyxal, emanresu, pexeger, user, or anyone else

Hm... Aaron's never used Risky.
Neither has Lyxal

Risky's quicks are awful to use

Final feedback? I plan to post this today.

This sock business is getting real confusing now
@BgilMidol Perhaps a and b form a *reversed multiple pair* if they satisfy the following property?
Maybe also specify that this $reversed$ function means "reverse the digits of the number" or sth
I agree with Razetime though, it's a nice, easy, well-specified challenge

8:18 PM
Ugh, I hate when t is used as a variable in stuff because my ts look exactly like +s

All the answers to redwolf's thing are preexisting languages that happen to be ACEable.

Yeah, I didn't intend on those being allowed but excluding the Vyxal ACE would be a bit boring

Yeah
I honestly didn't expect a Vyxal ACE to be found in time

whats an ace?

Arbitrary Code Execution
A type of exploit that lets you run any code, in something that isn't intended to let you run any code
I think I might've found the Jyxal ACE

8:32 PM
@user good now?

Jyxal? Has someone implemented Vyxal in Java?

JavaScript

@BgilMidol Looks good to me

@taRadvylfsriksushilani I spent half an hour figuring out how to get it to work once I'd found the cause, good luck

Q: Reversed Multiple Pair

Bgil MidolIntro Two numbers are a reversed multiple pair if they satisfy the following property: $$ a\times b = reversed( (a-1)\times b ) $$ Here, \$reversed()\$ means to reverse the digits of a number (e. g 123 becomes 321.) Example $$ a=6, b=9, 6\times9=54,5\times9=45 $$ As you can see, \$45\$ is the rev...

Does python-Vyxal still use transpilation?
Okay, looks like it does

Scala-Vyxal (vyxal 3) will be interpreted though

Kicking around ideas for this challenge has convinced me that an interpreter is 93.1% more secure than a transpiler.

Transpilation's perfectly secure as long as you keep an "airlock" between the user input and transpiled code, if that makes sense.
Like, any user input that goes into the transpiled code should go into a function whose possible outputs you know will always, no matter what, be within a certain pattern

Sure, but there's always the potential of getting it wrong. You don't have to even worry about it if you write an interpreter. (I think?)

8:57 PM
That's true, yeah

That's why you write a compiler.

Interpreting's harder though, especially for stuff like loops and conditionals
I don't care about security because my code's going to be run in the browser

@emanresuA Is it?

it's really not hard
only reason to transpile is if you want the transpiled-to language's compiler to help your performance out

TBH, transpilation isn't exactly straightforward if your target language is Python, because you've got to keep track of indentation levels.

9:03 PM
@UnrelatedString I wouldn't even think that's the main performance gain of transpilation

you could use some wacky functional style but at that point why python

"Radvylf" doesn't seem to show up anywhere else on the internet, so it makes it easy to find information about me
Whereas "redwolf programs" usually brings up red wolf conservation programs

What are y'all's opinions on the importance of being able to type the characters in a golfing language's code page with, e.g., an INTL keyboard layout?
I think it's really cool that Jelly lets you type almost all of its code page with a US-INTL layout, and I'm considering doing that with my upcoming language

9:59 PM
probably helps flexibility
come to think of it i should probably actually try the intl layout
i haven't actually tried charcoal but my vague plan for perhaps is to just have a verbose mode that can automatically translate long space-separated tokens to codepage equivalents

Mine'll have something like that too, yeah

probably won't even add a codepage until verbose programs are runnable

In theory, a code page could map some bytes to multiple ASCII chars, right?
I'm kind of wondering if you could just use ASCII, but with a few "digraphs" that are actually mapped to single bytes

10:15 PM
I like that solution better than the Jelly approach. I don't use US-INTL, so Jelly's codepage is no easier for me to use than any other SBCS code page.
A nice feature if you have an online interpreter is what BQN does: automatically translate the digraph sequences as they're typed. With BQN, that basically just means \ is a modifier key; with a full 256-character set, you'd need more than one such "escape character."

No way to end a code block on chat with \ :/
(Had to use a ZWSP for that)

:\
