10:02 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing At the election (Sep 20), I had a candidate score of 30
Since then, I've hit 20k and got Refiner, Copy Editor and Deputy

how do you check that; the election page seems to keep itself up to date lol

I checked my rep graph and what badges I earned since Sep :P

oh :P
i think my candidate score may actually have no changed since the election. i'm not sure...

It wasn't that hard tbh :P I earned Constituent at the election, so I used that as a marker. Then most of the badges after that were tag badges or answer/question badges which have no impact

oh, going off of constituent is a good idea :P

10:06 PM
@hyper-neutrino You have no new badges (that affect the score), and you already had 20k+, so no, it hasn't changed :P

yeah in that case my candidate score has been 34 since like september of 2018 xd

What was up with these revisions?
I apparently removed and added , and DJ removed and added

se things ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

probably the popularity changed (though that doesn't explain why it thinks you changed it)

I actually have 8 - query is bad

10:20 PM
@Ausername SEDE renews its data every Sunday, so if you've gotten 2k more rep, or 2 extra badges, or 1k and 1 badge since last Sunday, then it'll be out of sync

I just got cleanup, and I think 1k since last Sunday, so that makes sense.

Q: Gelatin integer metagolf

caird coinheringaahingGelatin is a worse version of Jelly. It is a tacit programming language that always takes a single integer argument and that has 7 (or maybe 16) commands. Gelatin Gelatin programs will always match the following regex: ^[+_DSa\d~]*$ i.e. they will only contain +_DSa0123456789~ characters. The co...

you're fast today

Clearly NMP heard about Redwolf's bot and is whipping the Feeds into shape :P

that, or it got tired of me criticising it constantly

10:25 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing just to confirm for gelatin, the value always starts as the argument, right?

@hyper-neutrino Yes

like, it doesn't have jelly's special case for if a monadic chain starts with a nilad

It never starts with a nilad, unless it's a nilad-dyad pair

ah. okay, thanks

I should do some work on my golfing language ranking

@RedwolfPrograms you should do some work on ash
or have you forgotten about it again?

I should, but I'm taking a bit of a break.

reasonable.

I'm really busy right now

12 secs ago, by Lyxal
reasonable.

10:29 PM
correct me if i'm wrong, but _~ is just v => 0?

Yes
I think it's the shortest way to consistently zero v

oh, it's not actually as easy as i thought to just throw BFS at this
cuz putting a 0,2 after a 2 doesn't make it (2) (0,2)
hmmm i'll need to think about this during dinner. by the time i'm back someone will probably have FGITW'd it lol

@hyper-neutrino Not to distract you from the ninja I'm sure you're working on, but can this be implemented? +11/-0 in 2 days is pretty solid
@hyper-neutrino TBF, 2,0,2 in Jelly doesn't make it (2), (0,2) either :P

Ah yes time to abuse function attributes for golfing language purposes
wonderful

Should C (gcc) be considered the same as C (clang), or JavaScript (V8) be considered the same as JavaScript (Node.JS)?

10:38 PM
For what purposes?

Ordinarily I'd say yes, but I'd think they're usually similar enough in byte count
The golfiness ranking

the real answer is sometimes but you're going to have to go with a fake answer

I'd suggest discarding anything in brackets

except lisp :)

No, discard Lisp as well :P

10:39 PM
:p
I came up with a super awesome approach to get around some of the limitations of Elo, I'm excited to see if it worms well

Only if it has the right 90s music
5

:claps:

Behold: my shitty jokes :P
And, as a plus, Redwolf cannot fix it, or else it looks weird :P

additionally, it's been two minutes
which is even better

Any bets on the top few most common things in parentheses in answer headings?

10:45 PM
language version

Free cookie if anyone guesses the exact number of occurences of the top one :p
@Lyxal More specific, I need an exact string :p

59%

(clang) or (gcc)?

(gcc) is second

@RedwolfPrograms (v8)

10:46 PM
Nope

maybe (dyalog)

or (Unicode)

Dyalog is sixth
There are other variations around and above it though
Dyalog Unicode is fifth

yeah, (Dyalog Extended) (Dyalog Classic) (Dyalog Unicode)

dzaima/apl?

10:47 PM
I'm guessing (non-competing) is somewhere but not the top

Nope
@Wezl About 250 occurences of that

@RedwolfPrograms You need to start using replies :P

what ranking are each of the dyalogs

(nars)
(legacy)
(.NET core)

@rak1507 5 (Unicode), 6 (Dyalog), 11 (Extended), 16 (Classic)
The winner was ES6, by a landslide
4339 occurences

10:48 PM
ah

Second being 1585

what were the top 10

nooo I was about to figure it out by cheating

@RedwolfPrograms and the worst part is that those are all manually added, as there is no ES6 on TIO

ES6, gcc, Mathematica, Node.js, Dyalog Unicode, Dyalog, Visual C# Interactive Compiler, .NET Core, ES7, ngn/k
Top 10

10:50 PM
@Wezl Y'only live once, the latest Jimmy Bond film: James Bond, but we cast a Texan

Okay wow why didn't someone tell me about that markdown mistake

python complaint: every other time I redefine a function and I get a reference before redefining, it doesn't overwrite it. But the moment I try and mess around with function attributes, it does it to all references.

The only thing in parentheses that I'm keeping will be (v2)

Python complaint:

okay nvm I have a horribly cursed solution
def lam(self, stuff, ar=-1):
    ar = [1, ar][ar != -1]
    print(ar)
    print(getattr(self, "mm"))

g = lam
setattr(g, "mm", 20)

def lam(self, stuff, ar=-1):
    ar = [1, ar][ar != -1]
    print(ar)
    print(getattr(self, "mm"))
f = lam
setattr(f, "mm", 200)

g(g, [])
f(f, [])

10:53 PM
      indentation is hard to read, especially when you skip lines

I pass the function to itself to get its own attributes

@Lyxal What in the frickety frick?

@cairdcoinheringaahing Vyxal

@Lyxal I know this is like the least worst thing, but why not g.mm = 20 instead of setattr and g.mm instead of getattr?

sorry horrible joke

10:54 PM
oh and TIL you can call dir on None

dir works on literally anything :P

@Wezl because manipulatable arities
@cairdcoinheringaahing okay sure

11:14 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing true. that's what i meant - like, the chaining rule goes LTR so i have to consider that :P
@cairdcoinheringaahing i was thinking i'd add the may LOTM to an event rather than featuring it - did you want me to convert the current april one too?

@hyper-neutrino It's May tomorrow (at least for me, for everyone in a small number of hours), so it might be best to just do it for May

sounds good
lol i literally have atom and my terminal open, yet to start working on my submission to gelatin metagolf i opened up tio
i'm just way too used to how convenient TIO has been all these years :P

tio is brilliant

imagine having your language on TIO

Q: What does the dupe link look like here?

11:17 PM
being able to supply args/stdin/whatever, switch languages and keep code, etc, it's such a great tool

And is it Proof that exp(x) is the only function for which f(x) = f'(x)?

yes

@cairdcoinheringaahing yes

I see it as such too

Yay, time to write up a bug report :/

11:18 PM
more MM rep time? ;)

You know it :P
It's too easy with screenshots and confirmation :P

Okay, got parentheses removed properly now

I would also suggest merging Java and JavaScript, and C, C++, and C#

Already done

Java is basically just spicy Javascript

11:25 PM
ಠ_ಠ

No, I won't elaborate :P

Other way around

gotta love how my most upvoted post on MM is literally just from me FGITWing redwolf asking about the feeds user name change because i heard about it from him in this room earlier :P

Highlight text and hitting caps lock should toggle the case

well actually, it's an answer under the "apology" SE gave but that whole thread's been deleted since

11:27 PM
@hyper-neutrino "hey, anyone else see this bug? Yes? Let's discuss the causes" (3 hours later) "Oh yeah, posted on MM, here's the link. Feel free to FGITW what you said earlier" :P

Wait one of the "apologies" got deleted?

@RedwolfPrograms About 10 of the "apologies" got deleted
SE royally fucked up in and around Nov 2019

@cairdcoinheringaahing you mean "thou"?

@Neil I'm sure thou would all agree, it isn't exactly mainstream :P

thou is longer than you so they were synonymized for golfing reasons

11:30 PM
y'all has caught on because it reduces parsing ambiguity

y'all'd've is especially good

@RedwolfPrograms but apostrophes

Fun trick: Move apostrophes to mess with grammar pedants

i've seen so many people type ya'll like ಠ_ಠ

d'ont, wo'nt, cant', etc.

11:32 PM
tha'ts interesting

@hyper-neutrino That should mean ya will

Yughk I don't have chat monospace fix on here

@cairdcoinheringaahing yes

@cairdcoinheringaahing y'all'd'ven't is supreme

Time to scroll down my userscript repo and download them all lol
There, that's better

11:34 PM
i just found that in the new koth, most new people post quality answer, and most of us post something like funnynumber (I am not hating that answer, it just really fun since it’s funny number)

I guess we saw it first to steal the easy ones :p
The HNQ people are stuck with having to work for their rep

Koth bot names are usually some kind of joke tbh :P

Can y'all think of any language names that include words that start with non-alphanumeric characters?
Like Language $Name or something

Existing languages?

11:36 PM
><>?
///?

@NewMainPosts wow, negative numbers are really hard

Only ones where second/third/etc words are nonalphanum
So a [ THIS IS A SPACE ]\W in the name

1 min ago, by Redwolf Programs
Only ones where second/third/etc words are nonalphanum
So only ones where there's a space in the name, then a nonalphanum character

None of the languages on TIO

11:39 PM
@RedwolfPrograms C (gcc) :P

I should be good to just use that to determine the end of the language name then

@cairdcoinheringaahing Weird, MathJax there renders fine to me

Because it's been edited to render correctly

D'oh

@hyper-neutrino Mind reverting your edit, at least until the bug gets a status tag?

11:44 PM
eh, idk if i did it right, pending approval to rollback

@cairdcoinheringaahing I hope you've closed some of those tabs since posting.

Nevermind, just got 'd
Marking this completed because the specific example is fixed and this doesn't occur with new duplicates. If you stumble upon an old duplicate, you can just edit the post (they're a part of the actual post body). — animuson ♦ 1 min ago
Can you revert a suggested edit?

whoever is reviewing the edits queue must really hate me
i don't know man :/ i don't actually have a clue how suggesting stuff works anymore, i hardly use sites other than CGCC
i'll just mod-flag it and ask someone to reject it

If you only use CGCC, how will you collect 15 diamonds and moderate like 5% of the network? :P

:P
gotta catch em all
ok i got someone to reject my edit :P fix un-fix un-fixed so it is now fixed

11:52 PM
Both ChrisF and Rory Alsop are mods on 6 sites, which is the most of any mods

aren't there mods who are mods on all of the sites across the network? oh, i thought there was someone with more. then again, maybe they have stepped down from some/all of them since i last checked

@hyper-neutrino CMs have diamonds on all sites, but I think Rory has always been #1

@cairdcoinheringaahing ???

@user You heard me

ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
That's like saying ham is basically just spicy hamsters :P

11:57 PM
...yes

^

@user You didn't know this?

@cairdcoinheringaahing the joke was about CMs :P but oh okay, i see. must be remembering incorrectly then

The whole "ham comes from pigs" thing is just a lie adults tell children. The name didn't tip you off? :p
