@pxeger Khmer Vowel Inherent Aa because it's invisible.

Visible for me

CMC: write a program in TIO which has all 1114112 unicode characters in it (you have to give the link)
In any language, Can have one character more than 2 times in it

I like JS: 044 != 44 && 088 == 88

@RedwolfPrograms Ah, JavaScript...

4:07 PM
I also like "‮", that one's very nice :P

Apparently not in someone else's google doc though :y
I guess :y kind of looks like a nose at the top with a mouth directly under it

@RedwolfPrograms ‮I will never forgive you for that :P

P: looks like you're licking your eye :þ

‮It's rude to put RTL override characters in someone else's doc

4:10 PM
yum cod

@RedwolfPrograms ‮How'd you know?

segassem rieht esrever ot tpircsresu na etirw enoemos

You didn't write that backwards by hand did you

@Wasif It's not that hard, just use this character: "‮"

on

4:11 PM
U+202e :th

doog

I have a pet doog

@RedwolfPrograms Use U+202d to counteract +U202e's effects

You should be able to nest U+202e for maximum annoyingness

@RedwolfPrograms You mean alternate it with LTR overrides?

4:13 PM
@pxeger : the only non-whitespace whitespace character.

@pxeger https://ꙮ.world (suggestion to what to do with it welcome)

unicode-table.com/en/202E this Unicode Table website doesn't understand U+202E properly...

@Adám Wouldn't it be the only whitespace non-whitespace character?

@RedwolfPrograms Yeah, probably.

Our starboard looks like the sandbox lol

4:14 PM
@pxeger I always thought that was supposed to be some kind of easter egg

@user No, they've just put the character literally in the heading and it overwrote the writing direction

Let's move starred messages to sandbox!

Not a bad idea. If only we had ROs active to do it...

lol

Don't need to move them, though, just clear stars on them, which still requires a room owner

4:15 PM
I used U+202e to make a rickroll that appeared to be a CGCC link once

folgedoc sounds like some kind of stupid cryptocurrency
2

(That's not one)

@RedwolfPrograms The "cats" and "flog" made it look very suspicious

@RedwolfPrograms I mistook your message to be a spam :P

ten.net exists :-)

4:17 PM
I think you mean ‮ten.net
lol

CMC: find a palindromic URL

Yes, oops.
@Wasif si.is

gro.org probably exists
Yep, hydroponics

@Adám i can't connect to it

Try again.

4:18 PM
@Wasif it's HTTP-only I think because it redirects to www.si.is

oh now i can reach it

@RedwolfPrograms ?

It looks like a super shady link but it's google owned

Why?

4:23 PM
I put a U+202e in it, it's actually a subdomain of v8.dev

Okay, but illegal_stuff?

Yeah, gotta make it look sketchy :p
It's not real, I just made up a subdomain

It displays backwards, but it's actually ffuts_lagelli

nice unicode trick

Oh

4:24 PM
Ffuts Lagelli sounds like someone who'd work for the mafia

Sounds like a great username for caird

I am back again, I have to count how many I am backs I have written
Due to various reasons

@Wasif 4

How did you count?

4:36 PM
LOL

4:48 PM
@hyper-neutrino the names, or the names and the urls, or what?

> hyper-neutrino has invited you to join new usernames for caird

yeah unfortunately i don't think i can prevent it from automatically inviting everyone whose message i moved to the new room

Well, this feels like HN's subtlety telling me to get a new username :P

i guess this, combined with opening private rooms for users, explains why i have 32 chat invites :P

4:50 PM
worse, it shows up in my notifications

Yeah, with no delay to "beat" it :/

SE chat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, the bugs in CGCC are nothing compared to the sellotape and glue that keeps this place from melting down :P

5:02 PM
Looks like Bash executables are available in Powershell too in Try it online, can I use them?

yeah no one's going to stop you
but then why not use bash?

WOW then its very nice
Well I need just the factor executable, it makes job easy

5:19 PM
How should a befunge answer take an array/string as input?
my guess: the coordinates of its start like in c
or is it acceptable for the string to be placed in a line determined by the answerer?

@Wezl How does it normally take input?

on the stack
but only numbers can be placed there

Pretty sure befunge answers can't assume the input's already on the stack, unless the input is pushed before the execution begins (implicit input)
(Not just befunge, I don't think any stack based languages are unless they have functions)

can we make an exception if I'm allergic to I/O? :)

5:46 PM
How many users have written 100 challenges? Till now
Well answer my question tomorrow I'm going to sleep now

good night

6:04 PM
Good afternoon

@Wasif Calvin's Hobbies, Wheat Wizard, Martin Ender, Stewie Griffin, Zgarb, Doorknob, AdmBorkBork, Kevin Cruijssen, James, Leaky Nun, caird coinheringaahing, and Beta Decay is at exactly 100 (this should only be undeleted posts)
SELECT (SELECT DisplayName FROM Users WHERE Id = OwnerUserId), COUNT(*) FROM Posts WHERE PostTypeId = 1 GROUP BY OwnerUserId ORDER BY Count(*) DESC; I think this is correct? not good at sql lol

@hyper-neutrino Don't worry, nobody is good at SQL

you raise a fair point

6:20 PM
I like the new pfp

thanks, it was heavily inspired by the style of yours :P
my first lambda one was kinda messy cuz a) i intentionally used the watercolor tool to do it, b) hand-drawing by mouse in paint-3d, and c) that was kind of the intention
but i just noticed it's slightly miscropped and i can't live with that and i don't have an editable copy anywhere so i just re-did it :P

@AncientSwordRage Hi! Interested in learning code golf?

They've been around on our site a bit before so I think they know at the very least the basics :P but I don't recall having seen you around much, so welcome (or welcome back) to The Nineteenth Byte! :)

Well hello there!
I just clicked "rejoin favourite rooms" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Have you golfed before?

6:33 PM
@user I'm more an asker than an answerer here

AncientSwordRage is also known as Pureferret and has 1k+ rep on CGCC :P

I need to ask the dual if this at some point: codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/129924/…

Oh cool

@cairdcoinheringaahing Oh yeah, I always forget this

@cairdcoinheringaahing Did you mean to post that twice?

6:35 PM
@user No, but my internet decided to anyway

How does that even work lol
TCP protects against double packets, right?

If it times out, you click "retry" and then both messages go through

Oh, that's interesting

@AncientSwordRage Interestingly, you have 8 questions and 12 answers on CGCC :P

Redwolf's Rule: You always have approximately two to four times as many answers as you remember

6:40 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing look at the scores though 🙃
@RedwolfPrograms Stigler's law of eponymy would imply you did not in fact come up with that law.

@AncientSwordRage Fair enough :P
I've got 19 "Good Question" badges (and 1 "Great Question") and exactly 0 "Good Answer" badges, despite having 6x the answers

@hyper-neutrino And Leaky, Beta Decay and me are the only ones of those who don't have Socratic
Calvin's even got it twice :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing was it you who got trolled by SE's "positive record" policy with your earlier posts before you understood the site or was that someone else
i have 13x good question and only 1x good answer despite having 6.66x as many of the latter

@hyper-neutrino Not exactly trolled, but until recently my question record wasn't good enough to get Curious, Inquisitive or Socratic
In fact, I just got Inquisitive today on Meta, so I was a month away from getting it on Meta first :p

6:56 PM
oh, so it's positive enough to get the badges now? nice :D

Yep, just need 10 more days with "well-received" (i.e. open, positive score) questions :P
If I'm quick about it, I might even beat Bubbler (96/100)
> Bronze badges encourage users to try out new features on þe site. Þey are easy to get if you try!
Synonymizer, Proofreader and Revival would like to disagree

I have both of those and they're probably the ones I'm most proud of :p
Not proofreader yet though

I'm missing 2 bronze badges: Revival and Announcer :/

Announcer's a bit of a weird one

@RedwolfPrograms The fact that "Review 1 task" and "Review 100 suggested edits" are both bronze is wild

7:01 PM
Yeah
We need one in between :p
Pewter badges

Or make Proofreader Silver and keep Reviewer as silver, so you can get 7 review related silver badges

Probably the best option

Oh yay, our blog format proposals are now level in score

Mine's better and you know it :p

I'd prefer mine, but I see no big problems with yours aside from being slightly messier, which is why I've upvoted it :P

7:10 PM
Yours is the messy one, how's anyone supposed to know when there's a new blog post (or find the newest one?) :p

Posting an answer vs a question has the same effect on "notifying" people, and just accept the newest one (or sort by active, I doubt they'll be edited much after posting) :P

Yeah, but with new blog posts each time you can see the title in the featured sidebar. It'll die out if people have to actively check when there's a new blog post (or follow it)

7:33 PM
i personally favor posting a new question each time
adding an answer would bump it to the top, so the difference then becomes whether an older post is moved up or a new post is added on top of the old post
if the old post is visible when the new post is up, meta isn't that active, and nothing really gets pushed off by the activity
if meta is active enough, the old post won't be on the front page anymore when the new post is added

The main difference is the title of the post; a new one means we can change the title and feature it, and that'll attract people not typically active on meta or in The TNB (a significant number of potential readers)

adding an answer each time would notify whoever posts the main thread whereas adding a new question only notifies a few people
@RedwolfPrograms yeah, that's also true
although we could add a 7th feed to TNB, but being able to feature the new one is also a thing

We could change the title of the question the answer's posted on each time, but it does seem like there's already a feature that allows individually named posts that can be conveniently tagged and sorted :p

yeah it seems like there isn't that big of a downside to posting them as questions, and we get a bunch of convenient features out of it
hosting externally definitely seems to not be a popular/good choice though, which i expected and agree with

I just realised that my thorn replacing userscript breaks Mathjax :/
\$\mathbb{N}\$ renders as \$\maþbb{N}\$ :/

7:42 PM
Use (better) regex

No, then I'd have more problems :P

Use regex to solve those problems :P

I was waiting for the thorn replacement to cause some sort of major issue somewhere :p

I quite like the "1 question wiþ new activity" :P

8:25 PM
because of how long the name "Duocentehexaquinquagesimal" is, community is autoflagging all of the new answers in it as duplicate answers of each other because the actual code is so short that the identical content ratio is really high because of the name length

I'd guessing 9 10 answers in 2 hours doesn't help either

I don't know why someone would make an esolang then not add explanations to their first few answers in it
I mean it's just a trivial Golunar/Unary/BF derivative, but still

Check the esolangs page for it, there isn't much to explain
Actually, does Makonede have an interpreter for it? There's nothing linked on the edolangs page or any of their answers

languages on this site are defined by their implementation right?

Yeah, not by a specification

8:29 PM
seems like quite a boring language... no offense if you're reading this

Q: Rejecting invalid IPv4 addresses

rsjaffeI want to avoid responding to illegal or spoofed addresses. One type that's easy to detect is an address that should not exist on a packet received by my router: a special-use address. Challenge Given an IPv4 32-bit address, identify whether it is valid general-use address. Challenge rules Speci...

@Neil Not familiar with regex, is that essentially substituting in a negative look-ahead?

@Jonah Looks like Tri-Ominoes to me, but I don't remember it going up to 11, I mean 8...
@cairdcoinheringaahing sorry, as you can see my by next reply, I hadn't actually scrolled that far down yet...

@Neil No worries, you were the only one who actually answered that CMC :P
It just devolved into discussion about whether that would work, and no one bothered to try it :P

8:44 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing "whosoever" would be archaic, "whomever" is standard

CMP: Head over to all your actions tab on your user profile (profile -> activity -> all actions -> all, that link won't work unless you're me). How many actions do you have?
@hyper-neutrino Apparently, ChatExchange is a pip installable module (can't speak to how good it is tho)

@cairdcoinheringaahing 1452

@cairdcoinheringaahing lies, the link worked for me (:P)
i have 4324
@cairdcoinheringaahing oh, huh that's cool. the one i stole from you works very nicely so i'll just stick with that :P (well, actually i'm not using my bot anymore, but w/e)

@hyper-neutrino Huh, guess it doesn't show things like votes (which are hidden)

@cairdcoinheringaahing 11045

8:56 PM
@Neil Thanks! I think that's it. And my original range of 0-8 was wrong, it's actually 0-5.

9:06 PM
Q: I'm writing up a challenge where the aim is to write a bot that listens in to messages posted here and posts them modified into another room. Is that allowed?
The bots should never post a message into this room
Actually, never mind, the challenge wasn't a good one in the first place :/

10:08 PM
CMC reverse all the words in a text fioe

as output or in-place modifying the file? also are we supposed to reverse the order of words or reverse the characters in each word individually? also what defines a word

Having just written the tag wiki for , I think writing the tag wiki for was the quickest I've ever written a tag wiki :P

codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/223464/… what's the verdict on this challenge allowing QQ/II
bc I have a much shorter solution if they can't be the same

10:23 PM
It's up to the OP

:/

Turn that frown upside down

/:

:\

/: is each right in K

10:25 PM
It's foldLeft in Scala (and :\ is foldRight)
\:, just to complete the set

if the OP says duplicates aren't allowed I get 500 rep
so I have a lot riding on this

500 rep from whom?

in The APL Orchard, 9 hours ago, by user41805
+500 rep to the shortest vanilla dyalog apl answer under 30b (i.e. competing with rak's extended answer) to https://codegolf.stackexchange.com/q/223464 . the way in which it will be rewarded is that once i notice someone posting an answer under 30b, i'll start a bounty, which i will award after a few days to the then shortest answer

Oh

I believe I currently have a 23

10:27 PM
Nice

but it fails for duplicates

Un-Extend your code to make it smaller

I have a 16 in extended
mostly just because … is amazing

Oh nice

Morning y'all

10:30 PM
wow I think I have exactly 30, crap
'under 30b'

@cairdcoinheringaahing you mind telling me why you thought it would be a good idea to repurpose JHTbot to repost old jokes made by TNB users? I swear the dream world version of TNB is very different to irl TNB

@Lyxal I figured that your most common "jokes" are so predictable and formulaic that they'd be better suited for a bot ;P

No but like it was just posting the links to old messages lol :p

I'm afraid I can't speak to the actions of dream-caird :P

(⊢∨≠\∧2=+/)
(∨\∧∘⌽∨\∘⌽)
two completely different solutions to the same problem
wish dyalog regular had under so it could be (∨\∧∨\U⌽)
wow, I just realised this is equivalent to (⌈\⌊∘⌽⌈\∘⌽), which is part of the solution to a problem I did earlier involving finding the volume of water enclosed between columns of given height

10:45 PM
under good

under is amazing
and it would get me 500 rep :(

Remind me what under does?
And is it worth adding to Jelly? :P

definitely
f under g is apply g, apply f, and then apply the inverse of g
so ∨\under⌽ is or scan but from the right

Ah, so it involves inverses :/

yes, but you can define inverses for several primitives
like the inverse of ⌽ is ⌽
there, you can have that one for free

10:48 PM
Jelly implements a lot of "inverse" commands as separate commands (basically all the under dot characters), so it'd involve massive reworking of the system to do that via a quick (operator)

11:02 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing the concept of "Jelly with under" is pretty much half of why I'm making Perhaps
the other half being "Jelly except it's Brachylog except there isn't actually constraint logic but there's still backtracking"
and then you end up with a concept of "smart under" that isn't actually just composition with something and its inverse

Dang, exactly one upvote away from daily rep cap

awards +50 bounty :p

11:19 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing you can replace /users/NNNNN/ with /users/current/ to get a link that works for everyone btw
also 233
wow I have more badges than posts

@Wezl That... would've been helpful to know for many things :/

Hm, Redwolf also has more badges and caird and bubbler have more posts

@Wezl I have 25 more posts than edits :P 709 edits vs 734 posts
