9:15 PM
Our site hasn't had a single day go by without an answer posted since 2013

that means the questions are too easy
we must up the ante

Yeah, the last 24-hour period without any posts was Christmas of 2013

A: Why is inline tag editing not available with retag privileges?

balphaAs Jeff said on the blog, With inline tagging, you can tag more stuff, faster. This is somewhat dangerous, so we prefer that more experienced users have access to it. Inline tagging pretty much lacks any resistance; you can retag questions so easily and without any extra thinking that it's extr...

Our record for most posts in a day is 347
It was in 2017

wtf happened on that day

9:22 PM
@RedwolfPrograms I see 381

Probably a time zone difference

Jun 8th 2017
@RedwolfPrograms Site analytics use UTC time

I'd think that's what SEDE is using too...
Odd

deleted posts maybe?
381 posts, 347 are not deleted. so yes, that is why

@hyper-neutrino 16 questions were asked, 4 of which ended up with more than 50 answers, 2 with more than 100
Obviously not all answers were on that day, but a substantial number would have been

9:26 PM
16 q. wow.
yeah the repdigit one got 44 answers on that day alone lol
diagonal alphabet got 62

Also, the two days beforehand got a decent number of questions with large answer numbers
@hyper-neutrino The most questions in a day is 26 :P

@AaroneousMiller What does vi mean?

@Fmbalbuena Vi & Vim Stack Exchange
Vi and Vim are text editors

9:41 PM
oh no i don't
don't grad

Fun fact: vi/vim is also a neopronoun, so the pronoun assistant userscript can be tripped up by that :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing Pronouns: Vi/Vim

perl is a acronym

@AaroneousMiller wdym

9:46 PM
It's like google search, but specifically for scholarly articles and scientific papers and whatnot

@Fmbalbuena ok that's because Print(Eval(Read())) Loop
lol

@AaroneousMiller ok star this

@AaroneousMiller Wait is this not common knowledge
(Also google scholar sucks booooooo)
(Well, I guess if you don't have free JSTOR creds from a school or something it's better than nothing)

@RedwolfPrograms I was looking up stuff about Markov chains, and google suggested doing a google scholar search about it.

9:59 PM
Like 90% of the stuff on there is paywalled, and it's not even very good at the actual searching part in my experience

@AaroneousMiller NO, the link
recent

10:33 PM
antifreeze

Just a hunch, but I don't think you need to antifreeze this room :P

@OriginalOriginalOriginalV hey.

Idk why, but seeing ads for things I already own/have (e.g. I just got an ad for Spotify Wrapped, which I've already spent hours dissecting with my friends) are somehow more annoying than normal ads

@cairdcoinheringaahing somehow annoying but why?

> idk why
They just annoy me much more

10:41 PM
but what does the ad look like?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it ws one of those Spotify Wrapped ads on YT, you can probably find it if you look for it

@Fmbalbuena Rooms only freeze after 14 days of nobody talking

@Fmbalbuena ???

@RedwolfPrograms So sometimes people will say something (anything works) every 14 days to keep less active rooms from freezing, and "antifreeze" just makes it clear why they're posting it

@RedwolfPrograms is that Google scholar or jstor?

10:51 PM
Google Scholar
Everything on JSTOR can be read freely if you have a (paid, of course, but typically your school will have an account students can use) account

Being a student at my uni lets me access essentially any paper for free :P

^ Yeah, if you go to a college they'll probably have all sorts of resources

Being a member of my state's public library allows me free access to JSTOR lol

Whenever I get a paywall, I just log in through my institution and then very quickly get confused when I read the paper :P

What date did this site graduate?

10:53 PM
"Without loss of generality, assume that s = 7. From this, the Riemann Hypothesis is trivially true, and so we conclude that 9 is prime"
@RedwolfPrograms Feb 26th, 2016 IIRC
Fuck, I was close: Feb 23rd, 2016

So 7 * 7 = 9

mod 10, yes

Oh huh, I've got a bunch of pre-2011 dates I need to filter out of my data (I guess from questions migrated from SO?)
Does anyone know what date PPCG was born?

Jan 27th 2011

@cairdcoinheringaahing we've only had 9 elected mods; who's mod 10?
7

10:58 PM
That's when we went into private beta
@hyper-neutrino me, hopefully :P

@hyper-neutrino Jnat

Well, mod 10 used to be pluto
But the definition changed
Now it's just a large room owner
@cairdcoinheringaahing Thanks!

And 7 * 7 = 9 (mod 10)

Yep that makes sense, there's a sudden massive burst of activity on that date

A: "Hello, World!"

nphBinary ///, 21 bytes Binary /// is similar to ///, but uses 1 and 0 instead of / and \, and outputs binary directly, to be converted to unicode. 10101100000110110111011111010111011011010110101111010110101111010110101010111011010111110111111101101101010110101101010101101010111011101011010111101011...

11:00 PM
@RedwolfPrograms For what its worth, I list all the relevant site dates (or most of them) in my history of the site

I probably should've checked that yeah, y'all are just a really effective search engine and I'm lazy lol

Nov 26 at 5:07, by Redwolf Programs
Not gonna do your dupe checking homework for you though :p

I've actually considered trying to use my copy of the TNB transcript as a search engine of sorts

s/dupe/fact finding

11:02 PM
@RedwolfPrograms Junetember 60th, 201617

@RedwolfPrograms Especially when I'm on the school bus and have no wifi

2 + 2 = 9, 2 + 2 = 12, 3 + 3 = 4, 4 + 2 = 4

2 + 2 = 9 will never be true

@RedwolfPrograms at least 3

@RedwolfPrograms Let + : Z -> Z be defined such that 2 + 2 = 9, 2 + 2 = 12, 3 + 3 = 4 and 4 + 2 = 4
:P

11:03 PM
Is there a spherical cow anywhere nearby? :p

@RedwolfPrograms oh the AI is dumb. [Migrated]

Please don't dump random AI stuff in TNB

The odd message is fine, but don't do more than that :)

Yeah, fair enough
And I guess lyxal gets away with far more than that lol

11:05 PM
@lyxal Yeah LOL

Nothing more scary than losing a pair of scissors in your bed ಠ_ಠ

@RedwolfPrograms because I do it in contextually appropriate situations (mostly :P)

@cairdcoinheringaahing I would like one context please
I don't need a lot of contexts, just one

ctx = Context()
There you go.
One context

I'm trimming my nails, sat in my bed because I live in shitty university accommodation and so my only other option is an uncomfortable chair. I put my scissors down to chat in here for a second. My scissors decide to pretend its a pen, and vanish into a different dimension. Thus, my scissors are lost in my bed
I have found them: they were underneath my stuffed shark

11:08 PM
At least it's not a worse thing to lose in your bed like snakes, other people's prosthetics, or uninsulated live wires
@cairdcoinheringaahing Does the stuffed shark have a name?

proof of 1+(4*5) is 5 because This

@cairdcoinheringaahing you're lucky you're still alive then. If blahaj was in a bad mood rn you could've been shanked in your own room :p

@Fmbalbuena Due to the principle of explosion, IIRC you can prove literally anything is true if you assume 2 + 2 = 9 :p

blahaj is never in a bad mood, they're always smiling :P

11:12 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing this you? (:P)

I'm feeling very attacked right now :P

wait how is that an attack kekw

The :3 emoticon does not get enough usage here

together we can change that

I would but I'm canonically a wolf :3

11:14 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I now can find out exactly where you are:

@hyper-neutrino i have found a lot of animes liking blajah

@lyxal I mean, I have publicly stated what university I go to, in this chatroom, and there's only one ikea here :P

11:19 PM
@lyxal Even better, Scala, 0 bytes: `` (implicit) :P
@hyper-neutrino 🤨
@RedwolfPrograms This is much more affordable for me, thanks!

11:37 PM
Interesting, CGCC's activity seems to surge in the summer then fall pretty rapidly when fall hits

Hmm, almost as if a good chunk of CGCC's users are in high school and have more free time then :P

11:55 PM
CGCC activity over time

Congrats, you have successfully gotten the 25k rep privilege :P

That spike in 2021 is nice to see
The Incident had much less of an impact that I thought, seems that the main decay in activity had already happened long before then

^

Yeah, we were already on a decline in activity before Monica was fired

Seems like the decline was practically over by 2019 though
