@cairdcoinheringaahing and you didn't have to remove the explanation
nice language though +1

@ngn "-"/ works as insert "-"?

@ASCII-only Thanks. I've got to do this thing called 'sleep' (no idea what it is, never heard of it before) though, so I'll add a proper explanation in the morning

ngn
@H.PWiz I think it's called "join"

@cairdcoinheringaahing dude the explanation is exactly the same, you never had to remove it

I was guessing, because f/ is sometimes referred to as insert f

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

AlionFormic Functions v2 (name temporary) This is a preliminary write-up of a new challenge heavily inspired by Formic Functions. The spec is based on the original challenge's spec - credits for most of what you'll read here to trichoplax. Each player starts with one ant - a queen, who collects food...

@H.PWiz yeah, makes sense
@H.PWiz analogously, separator\string is split

Without Unicode too

@cairdcoinheringaahing Nice I found the debug command h (and H) :P

Yay, meta gold!

@Dennis O_o

10:12 PM
@Dennis Which one?

Reversal.

@Dennis that's your third gold...

@Dennis ‮Reversal?

@Christopher Yup. Thanks to you. ;)
4

@Dennis what what did i do?
I have more power then i know

10:15 PM

@Christopher Post a question about trolling authors of homework questions.

@Dennis jeez, I wanted to remove that but it needs to stay :/

Second one I got. First was for Question about question about advacado .

@MartinEnder your welcome for gold

Are you proposing to trade your gold for his welcome?

10:17 PM
@Dennis Why did you have to turn the [sic] into a tag >_>

@Dennis I'd be fine with that
also, yay first reversal?

nope
Alex got 2 first

Oh, and infinite precision numbers
have to have the infinite precision numbers

@Christopher no I mean it's my first reversal badge
(on all of SE, I think)

@MartinEnder yes

10:19 PM
@ASCII-only Formatting opportunities must be abused in every possible way.

@Dennis

Kindly stop pinging me.

sorry .oO(Super glad I didn't do that as a ping)

I got three reversals on Mother Meta. Could have been four if I hadn't upvoted one of the questions.

lol

10:27 PM
oh snap, Dennis is planning a Jelly 2? I'd better get a move on with Japt 2

goodness what

@ETHproductions Too late, i'm already making QUARK. QUARK > all /s
how to: freeze my interpreter.
0 400000000000000⋯
i mean, it makes sense, but i find it funny for some reason

@ETHproductions I'd be happy to help with Japt 2 if you want any

thanks @Conor. Still in the design phase right now, but I'd love to get feedback if you want to provide some

sure! is there a chatroom or similar?

10:31 PM
There is a Japt chatroom
I'd link you to the planning doc, but it's on HackMD which seems to be down atm

10:42 PM
@ASCII-only Nice! Glad to see someone use Add++ :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing I cheated though >_> I just basically did the same thing you did and merged the lambdas
Partly because I discovered A is a thing from your answer
@cairdcoinheringaahing It seems like it may be able to be golfed though, IDK
@cairdcoinheringaahing Hang on I never posted this in chat
@Neil hmm is the information in the AST sufficient to be able to generate a decent explanation?

@ASCII-only Downside to other people using your language: you get outgolfed really fast :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing Yes half the time I post, Neil's already posted a better answer >_>
Not that I post often at all

I'm tempted to try the Magic 8 ball challenge, but I don't want to get downvoted just for posting an answer :/

post answers to what you enjoy to do, not for the rep.

10:52 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Hmm do you think B#b+ or B]Ae can be golfed?

@ConorO'Brien It's not that, it's more that getting downvote kinda feels like someone saying "this isn't good enough, get rid of it" to your post for me
@ASCII-only I think B]Ae could be ABE but I haven't tested it

it should count as serial voting and probably will be removed

Nope, ABE doesn't work :/

@cairdcoinheringaahing Yeah because ABE 1. returns an array, 2. checks against stack[-1] as well >_>
@cairdcoinheringaahing you should stack.pop() instead

@ASCII-only For BE? There are lots of things I should change in the source code :P
I really should be sleeping :/ Bye y'all!

11:11 PM
@cairdcoinheringaahing Unless you're Dennis, that is.

@HyperNeutrino Hi :)

hello :D

So basically the concept that you want to describe seems to be that the chain reaches a steady state, i.e. if you look away from the state for a really long time what are the probabilities of being in a particular state when you get back

Basically, yeah. I prefer my definition of how you want to find non-zero B for input A such that BA=B

Usually finding the limit of the matrix representation of the chain will give you that, but only if the chain is irreducible, aperiodic, and has at least one recurrent state

11:22 PM
though obviously that doesn't really work with the identity matrix because any B would work

So your definition allows a lot more, it's really asking "find a left kernel of a stochastic matrix"

@FryAmTheEggman Hm okay, that makes sense. Could I just say in my question specs that "the chain is guaranteed to be irreducible, aperiodic, and have at least one recurrent state" and leave it up to the answerers to make a solution without input validation?
oh okay. makes sense

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but you then have to describe what those mean
Instead I think you could say: where the resulting B has all identical rows

oh yeah I guess that would make sense
I will probably exclude the identity matrix from this

Also for Luis' question, I had intended to imply that answerers should only need to pick one of the conventions, not both

11:25 PM
oh ok :/ well, i'll ping him back about that

In fact it makes my answer invalid, I'm pretty sure
You can pick what you want, it just seems a little arbitrary to make people transpose the input and output if their language chose the other convention (to me anyway)

yeah. I edited that into the post

Ok, thanks for putting up with all of my nagging :P

it's alright :P I posted the challenge without enough knowledge of exactly how it works so thanks for getting rid of all of the mathematical technical issues :D

My pleasure!

11:58 PM
I wrote a fair amount of the quarterstaff spec for the challenge in the sandbox but firefox froze up before i finished it or copy pasted it
