10:00 PM
@trichoplax Not my work btw

user165474
^^^ agreed wait can I make a CSS thing always apply to every site (or specific sites)?

@HyperNeutrino You can make it apply to specific sites, see your styler help page for details

@MDXF Thank you still, for making me aware

np

Can't do either of those things, im on a train

10:01 PM
...yet you're talking on chat SE

user165474
@MDXF Mobile Chat SE exists but mobile GH is very hard to use

user165474
(assuming taco is on mobile)

@HyperNeutrino There's mobile chat se?!?

user165474
@MDXF How?

@HyperNeutrino Do you have a styler extension installed?

user165474
10:02 PM
@MDXF I was using it a few days ago and I'm pretty sure you were there when I was complaining about it...

user165474
@MDXF no

@HyperNeutrino Is it an app or just a mobilized version of the website? I thought you meant there was an app

user165474
@MDXF Oh no there's no app. It's just mobile site

@HyperNeutrino what browser you on?

user165474
@MDXF Chrome

10:03 PM
@HyperNeutrino Oh ok
@HyperNeutrino good

user165474
ooo

user165474
Also ListToken@[content] is meant to be a list but it contains tokens not values ;_;

> ListToken ... contains tokens ;_;

user165474
Well I mean now I have to make something that will evaluate out those things... Wait that could potentially give it some extra functionality, especially if not all of those tokens are LiteralTokens

10:06 PM
My internship is over O_o

@Mendeleev sorry to hear that, where were you intern-ing?

It's not a bad thing, it's just that it only takes place during the school year, and that ends on 6/20.

True

@MDXF My school district
Writing some software

I mean what company was your internship at
Oh

user165474
10:07 PM
I tried doing the style thing but it says it's too global >.<

:I works for me..
did you set the site to *.stackexchange.com?

user165474
Oh

user165474
Wait where?

one sec

user165474
@-moz-document?

10:09 PM
chat.stackoverflow.com - "Welcome to Stack Exchange chat"

Huh having it global works for me...
what version of Chrome are you using

@HyperNeutrino Stylish

user165474
@MDXF Version 58.0.3029.110 (64-bit)

@ASCII-only I linked him like ten messages ago lol
@HyperNeutrino Huh that's mine...

user165474
@ASCII-only Ninja'd by quite a bit lol

10:11 PM
:38145607 ... to NeutrinoHub :D

user165474

user165474
@MDXF lol

@MDXF ... This is why you're supposed to use descriptive link names
5

@ASCII-only ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Use fasthub
Awesome mobile GitHub app
@MDXF how are you breaking it? o0

10:15 PM
@totallyhuman ?

user165474
@totallyhuman I have a feeling you don't know what NeutrinoHub is...? :P

user165474
ooo free Wolfram|Alpha Pro 1 year starts now :D

cool

Is there an easy way to search a question for answers in a certain language

user165474
10:31 PM
I think you can just search isquestion:id languagename and it will find it if the body contains the language name, though for things like C this will not work well. I don't think there would be any better way because SE-wide that doesn't have much of a purpose.

@HyperNeutrino you can try C, with comma. Though old answers used parenthesis to enclose byte count

user image
5

user165474
@Uriel Idea make userscript that only searches first line or something like that

user165474
... I just signed up for a Mathematica trial because I couldn't find the link given to me for free but I was being dumb and didn't check my email

user165474
um 0/10 takes too long to download... (2 hours later)

10:37 PM
@HyperNeutrino The search term is "Wolfram User Portal". No, you won't find it by going to the wolfram website.
It's silly

user165474
Hm. Weird.

@HyperNeutrino Mate builtins for goat recognition take up a lot of space
The full uncompressed size is like 15gb

user165474
Oh wow

user165474
(checking to make sure I have more than that right now)

user165474
... I only have like 21 GB left D:

10:38 PM
@HyperNeutrino this could make a nice challenge - list all of the languages I've used, and how many times

user165474
@Uriel That would be an interesting challenge. Seems a bit unclear though; also, polyglots... :P

user165474
Wait polyglots don't break anything

user165474
just that sum(output) != my_answers.length

@HyperNeutrino yeah, you'd have to consider only organized users...

user165474
:P Yes

10:40 PM
@HyperNeutrino I once cleared 10 gb with sudo apt autoremove, try that.

user165474
Er nothing changed rip

IDK ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
rm -rf ~/Downloads ; mkdir Downloads is another one of my favorites

user165474
crap almost did that then realized I have an ongoing download right now :P

user165474
but 0/10 removing everything else does nothing :(

@Phoenix I've heard dissolving your hard drive in acid removes all of the junk files DO NOT TRY THIS

10:47 PM
@HyperNeutrino How tiny is your hard drive to have no space while simultaneously also being apparantly clear of garbage?

@HyperNeutrino fire up ncdu/baobab/kdirstat and see where all the space is going?

@TuxCopter What's fourth place

@TuxCopter I've never lost a ), tbh.
I have lost \ many, many times and failed to escape a quote in a string.

A reminder to sell off bitcoin before 2017/8/1, which is BTC doomsday (Bitmain / New York Group's UAHF vs. Bitcoin Core's UASF/BIP148). Exchanges and transactions will be in limbo for at least 4 days.

11:00 PM
I've been considering getting into this whole 'Bitcoin' thing, I guess I should hold off on that, then.

I mean, UAHF's goals make sense, but Bitmain (14% of mining power) will have exclusive mining rights for that fork for three days, which is insane.

@ASCII-only an off by one error

@mınxomaτ I have no idea what the sentence means.
I just heard yesterday that apparantly my two RX480s are good for bitcoin mining ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The links explain each party's side of this discussion.

Too many confusing words

11:04 PM
:|||| Apparently there is a bug in JS/Babel making my JS solution invalid :(((

@Phoenix I have developed very good brace habits from programming in Brain-Flak. I used to lose them all the time but now I never loose braces.

I lose braces when I make a one sentence if statement without them, realize I need multiple statements there, go back to add braces, and then my IDE kinda gives up and does random magic with braces and indentation.

yo @betseg hit me up on discord

@Phoenix does your editor not highlight matching braces?

@Phoenix I don't like to use IDEs because they interfere with my braces, as soon as I start programming in an IDE I start losing braces

11:08 PM
@Avery i did but u no reply ;_;

@Downgoat It does, but not before all the indentation borks.
@WheatWizard I think it's a worthwhile tradeoff for all of their advantages.

^ assuming 'ide' = not vim

Personally its not for me, I learned to write code without an IDE so its how I like things

I hate IDEs
it's so easy to just use the command line

yeah nah

11:10 PM
I feel extremely comfortable using (default) Vim and Nano so I just do that

Nano is so nice

^^^^^ I will reconsider my stance of IDEs once just one of them supports HiDPI displays

For smaller, one or two file things, a basic text editor is fine.

After using ed for two years I started using nano and ahhhh

I mean I find writing a prime program takes a while when using command line

11:11 PM
@MDXF ಠ_ಠ to go to bottom of page in nano you have to click down arrow like 24 times (assuming standard 80x24 terminal)

For larger projects, I need the organization provided by an IDE. Also, autoimports.

@Downgoat ^V

@Downgoat <kbd>PageDown</kbd>
intentional non-HTML

oh, and nano don't support going back a word at a time like vim's b

IDE != Text Editor

11:12 PM
Yes

and it's really difficult to save in nano compared to vim

@Downgoat Or meta \

@Downgoat <Ctrl+O><Enter>
In Vim it's Esc-:wq
that's an extra keypress

:x is shorter

oh yeah that too

11:13 PM
^ you can also just use ZZ

You only have to use Esc if your in a mode

Editing mode...

@MDXF *Insert mode

also vim support tabs and multi window and visual modes and cursor

I use IntelliJ with vim keybindings

11:14 PM
+ you're usually not in insert mode

@ASCII-only yes was about to say that

does nano even do syntax highlight

@Downgoat yes

@Phoenix I don't get IntelliJ's vim keybindings, they are nothing like Vim IMO

IDK enough Vim to really notice

11:14 PM
I honestly wrote Decimal 100% using Windows Notepad

Including Cloud9

Syntax highlighting is personally my least favorite feature of IDEs

@ASCII-only I love cloud9

@WheatWizard wat

opls there is no syntax highlight
Questoin: is auto indent or synatx highlight more important to you

11:16 PM

highlight

Syntax highlighting doesn't really add anything, it just makes my code look like candy colored vomit
(I also don't like autoindent)

@MDXF lel

> lmgtfy
let me goat that for you

@Downgoat yes

11:17 PM
@WheatWizard I sort of agree with this

@Phoenix Well pretty much every decent IDE has vim bindings

@WheatWizard D: rainbow syntax higlight is best syntax higlight

@WheatWizard Accurate. I like it because I can't really distinguish between characters but syntax highlighting helps a bit

@ASCII-only That's not the point
We're not comparing IDEs

I wonder if I would have gotten more votes on my king of the hill if it mentioned goats

11:18 PM
@Phoenix IK
But it's basically saying you use fancy vim :P

Syntax highlighting is a godsend when you have a large regex.

@Phoenix No, all you need is your own Martin

Most GUI editors syntax highlighting breaks anyway after enough golfing.

@ASCII-only But Martin is usually asleep right about now
@Uriel Really? I've seen SE's highliting break, but never an IDE's

@Phoenix where is he located?

11:20 PM
Germany

Oh yeah

@Phoenix usually most IDEs give up on syntax highlighting after a certain line lenth
Atom basically gave up on Japt 50% of the way through

@Phoenix sublime does sometimes with python unspaced numerals

Atom, Sublime != IDE

11:21 PM
I wonder if it's possible to make syntax highlighting for esolangs

user165474
@Phoenix I made my Linux partition too small :( I have a 2TB-a bit hard drive

Q: Exact change in fewest bills and coins

DaffyOverview In the US, the common denominations are the penny ($0.01), the nickel ($0.05), the dime ($0.10), the quarter ($0.25), one dollar, two dollars (less common but lets pretend it's common), five dollars, ten dollars, fifty dollars, and one hundred dollars. ($1 to $100 respectively). Your...

Someone made one for Brain-Flak

user165474
@MDXF I wonder how practical that would be for half of esolangs

@HyperNeutrino Resize the partition then

user165474
11:22 PM
???

What was said to be a 3 hour maintenance has taken 24 hours. I'm a step away from filing a breach of SLA.

> a 2TB-a bit
You have what now

@Phoenix of course. It's a GUI editor

user165474
@ATaco :o what is sla

@HyperNeutrino practical for dyslexia tho lol

11:22 PM
@HyperNeutrino slander liability agreement

Service Level Agreement, Essentially what they've promised to provide me.

user165474
@ATaco yes :P It is technically 2TB but there's a bunch of stuff on it that I can't take off

user165474
@ATaco ah, I see.

Oh NANO is a meta acronym too
Nano's ANOther editor
poll: favorite programming meta acronym

@MDXF GNU HURD

11:25 PM
(They are recursive acronyms)

user165474
btw sorry i keep pinging wrong people bc I count my own messages when counting carets even though they aren't posted yet but also why the hell is my internet suddenly 10 times slower

"Thanks for reporting this to us. Let me forward this over to our CEO"
I've gotten action.

user165474
@MDXF I'm So Meta Even This Acronym

@ATaco On what?
Oh nm I need to read more

@HyperNeutrino ISMETA ohhh

11:26 PM
GNU HURD Acronym expansion:

I just like GNU: Gnu's Not Unix

@MDXF shamelessly stolen from xkcd

It's time [to] explain the meaning of "Hurd". "Hurd" stands for "Hird of Unix-Replacing Daemons". And, then, "Hird" stands for "Hurd of Interfaces Representing Depth". We have here, to my knowledge, the first software to be named by a pair of mutually recursive acronyms.

heh

user165474
@Phoenix heh yes

11:27 PM
links? u there?

user165474
Multiline messages don't format properly.

Why not?

user165474
Because SE = weird

No markdown in multiline messages

I should make a userscript to format mutliline messages.

11:28 PM
No you shouldn't

user165474
*none at all?*
*really?*

Nope

@ATaco Please do

user165474
also I just freed up 20GB by deleting ~/Documents

That way I can have 9 userscripts!
@HyperNeutrino What was in it?

user165474
11:29 PM
screen recordings of me trying to get people banned on hypixel ;_;
4

Hey, I just did that!

user165474
:P

What's with you and :P

@HyperNeutrino opls I cleared up 80GB by clearing trash

user165474
@Downgoat wow good job

user165474
11:31 PM
@Mendeleev ':P' is my only friend don't judge

:P

@Downgoat 80G?! Thats how big my entire hard drive is

though my downloads folder is probably catching u[

@WheatWizard Get a bigger hard drive.

@WheatWizard O__o my iPad has more space than your hard disk

11:31 PM
@Downgoat opls. I just freed up 200GB by deleting two of the triplicate HDD images I had for some reason.

@Mendeleev opls I just freed 1.8TB by de-duping my backup sparsebundle on NAS

Technically the physical drive is 2TB, but all but 80G is a completely broken arch partition

@Downgoat opls two years ago I freed 2TB by reformatting my drives

@Mendeleev Doesn't count

@Phoenix Why not?
@WheatWizard Broken how?

11:33 PM
It's Arch

^ that

Limiting it to just one way is probably a little difficult.

hey, I run arch on two computers and a server, no breakage

My laptop is in my backpack, so here's a desktop screenshot

11:35 PM
I tried to install a tiling window manager and failed, I then accidently broke the boot loader so now I can't even boot into the partition

user165474
ooo what texture pack is that

@WheatWizard Boot from an Arch flash drive, mount the partitions, arch-chroot in, and fix the loader
@HyperNeutrino Faithful

Not that easy

user165474
Ooh interesting

11:36 PM
It's very light and meant to be 32X vanilla
The font is the built in Unicode font
I can't stand the default font, too wide and not enough character support

a-ta.co is back online!

AYYYy

They re-assigned my IP by accident, how dare they.

rip

user165474
lol good job them

user165474
11:37 PM
great customer service

@Mendeleev :| this is cheating

It took them 24 hours and two complaints to do anything about it...

@ATaco O_o you are self-hosting

Switch to the dark side DigitalOcean

brb hacking

11:38 PM
They have never failed me

user165474
Oh hey I found out why my program wasn't working

@ATaco question: what is your username on your computer?

@Downgoat No, an actual hosting company actually assigned the IP of my virtual machine to someone else.

@HyperNeutrino Always a pleasent, if rare, occurance.

user165474
It was a typo >.<

11:39 PM
Most of the time you rewrite the broken statement in question a few times until it works

user165474
and great apparently my language reverses lists now

@ATaco do you use ubuntu?

They gave me back my IP address after a fair bit of complaining, and they realized "Whoops"
@Downgoat Yeah.

user165474
Also 0/10 my programming language is very counterintuitive must fix

user165474
wait no that's not a problem, it's stack-based so i'm just being dumb

11:41 PM
@HyperNeutrino the benficiality of this would depend on wether it do it when commanded to - or not

user165474
@Uriel It's not meant to; it's because lists are just their own program and tokenized and evaluated as such so it makes sense why it would be but that's not meant to happen

user165474
Also my programming language can by postfix, prefix, or infix, all of them work

user165474
So +++1 2 3 4 and 1 + 2 ++ 3 4 and 1 2 3 4 +++ all do the same thing

how
ow

@HyperNeutrino I'm just starting to think about all of the possible adaptions for polyglots.

11:44 PM
Does it do order of operations

user165474
If there aren't enough values on the stack then it saves the operator and performs it once there are enough values

user165474
No, so infix notation makes no sense.

@HyperNeutrino how

user165474
52 secs ago, by Hyper Neutrino
If there aren't enough values on the stack then it saves the operator and performs it once there are enough values

ono are we going to have stackception again

11:47 PM
@HyperNeutrino this seems problematic somehow, but I don't know

user165474
@DestructibleLemon It's expected behaviour so I hope it's fine :P

@HyperNeutrino Do you enjoy Bedwars?

user165474
@Mendeleev Yes

Cool
I'm playing it right now

user165474
ooo

11:49 PM
3v3v3v3, bed is destroyed

user165474
TheRealAlien still?

user165474
o rip

hmm, it would be ambiguous under some circumstances (meaning it defaults to prefix first) work under some circumstances but all infix, all postfix and all prefix works so I guess it doesn't matter
I think this is a cool thing and has anyone ever made this before

user165474
@DestructibleLemon Can you provide an example of when it would be ambiguous?

I mean, it defaults to starting with prefix

user165474
11:51 PM
@DestructibleLemon Thanks. I wouldn't be surprised but AFAIK I haven't seen any other languages like this before

user165474
@DestructibleLemon I'm still not sure I understand what you mean.

the way you wrote it means when it would be ambiguous under what I say you default to prefix first

@HyperNeutrino I just realized I'm the only player on my team

so say I wrote - 1 3 2 -

I have chain armor and wood sword
RIP

user165474
11:52 PM
@Mendeleev o rip also when you're done can you party HyperNeutrino

Sure

user165474
if you want

user165474
yay

mathematically that is ambiguous between - 1 (3 2 -) and (- 1 3) 2 -
but with yours it defaults to the second

@DestructibleLemon there's only one option 1 - 3 - 2

user165474
11:52 PM
Oh okay. Yes. I see what you mean now. Yeah, it defaults to prefix

user165474
because it operates as soon as it has enough values

maybe you should include parens or something

You can indicate minus with macron, and default infix when ambiguous unary operator overloads

just to make it more versatile even

Like - - - 1 2 3 goes -1-2-3

11:54 PM
rip

user165474
@Uriel except 1. - is not implemented yet and 2. it will either mean negative or subtrct

@HyperNeutrino you are creating mixed tacit right? so consider this monad vs dyad precedence issue

user165474
@Uriel Maybe. Probably, though I'm not sure yet. I suspect I will make it lower-arity first

user165474
that is - - 1 2 will be -1 - 2 not - (1 - 2)

@HyperNeutrino or, as I said, consider macron for negative numerals
