10:00 PM
@NathanMerrill Thanks :)

@StewieGriffin It's been cracked already, so it doesn't really matter

it does matter for the robber
(that's a tough situation to be in, whether to invalidate the robber or not)

Здравствуйте

I think I'll just leave a comment and let it pass... What's done is done I guess...

@ГригорийПерельман obviously somebody found that offensive, probably best not to post things that could be perceived in a bad way

10:03 PM
The internet is full of delicate snowflakes.

yes
but hey @DanielSank, what brings oyu here? flags?

@Riker Yessir.
I noticed the offending user's name was Russian.
That piqued my interest.

Then I noticed it's the code golf room and thought I'd stay a while and make some friends.

There was a bit of name changing today

10:05 PM
@DanielSank Welcome!

I want to join in the name changes

@LliwTelracs ?
@DJMcMayhem Thanks.
I mostly hang out in physics.

Pavel and CheckOutTomato changed their usernames

< Also

and BusinessCat

10:14 PM
I changed my username and image
should be showing up any minute now

@Riker ಠ_ಠ
If I can't post things from xkcd, what can I post?

I don't think it was offensive, but someone flagged it.

How does one pass input to 05AB1E from the command line?

@DanielSank hallo

@ChristopherPeart Hallo.

10:21 PM
@DanielSank How is life?

Can we please use username from Latin alphabet

@Downgoat No, that makes pinging too easy.
@ChristopherPeart It is good. I am working on a pcb, which is fun.
How is your life?

@Downgoat You mean like Upsheep?

@Downgoat Sumerian alphabet best alphabet

@DanielSank Ohh PCB what for? and good.

10:22 PM
@TuxCopter Cyrillic alphabet = best.
@ChristopherPeart How much detail you want? ;-)

@DanielSank No. Cyrillic is too mainstream.

Sumerian? Cyrillic? Just use wingdings.

@LliwTelracs That's a font, not an alphabet

@TuxCopter Мне нравится Русские слова.

@DanielSank As much as you care for. I just made my first PCB this year (variable voltage reg) actually it is sitting right in front of me can't take picture as i have no webcame on this computer

10:23 PM
Hmmm, my Russian has gone to crap.

@DanielSank I understand Cyrillic but I don't speak Russian

@TuxCopter You can read it but don't know the meaning?

Yup

Idk even how
Like how do you learn one but not the other?

I know the pronunciation of a lot of alphabets, but I only know French and English

10:25 PM
@ChristopherPeart Ah ok, so you know stuff. The board takes a ~5GHz signal and poops out two ~200MHz signals which contain the amplitude/phase information of the original 5GHz signal.
In jargon, it's an IQ demodulator.

@DanielSank That is really cool actually

@ChristopherPeart Yeah, it's pretty awesome. It has a digitally controlled variable gain amplifier on the MHz lines because it drives an ADC and you have to hit the right amplitude range.
The fun part: This is the first pcb I've ever designed o_O

You using eagle?

@ChristopherPeart Altium, although next time I'm interested to try KiCad.

@ChristopherPeart Learning a writing system is wayyyy easier than learning a language

10:26 PM
@TuxCopter Objection.

And to learn a language you need to know its writing system

I cite Chinese as a counterexample.
@TuxCopter False!

In my EIII class final project is a nice audio amp in a small speaker box. We are planning on making it Bluetooth

Children learn languages without learning writing systems all the time!

@DanielSank Well, Chinese (and ideographic anguages in general) are exceptions, because the writing system is the language

10:27 PM
@DanielSank Oh wow. You have a link of schematic or a screenshot?

@TuxCopter wat?
Tell that to Chinese three year olds.
@ChristopherPeart You wanna see the schematic or the layout?

Does anyone know how to give 05AB1E input?

I mean the Chinese alphabet is closely tied to the language

Hmm layout more funz

@ChristopherPeart k hang on.

10:28 PM
Did the ratsnest give you a heart attack at first?

@TuxCopter what do you mean

@ChristopherPeart Nah it's all good.

@ASCII-only I mean a Chinese character = a Chinese root/word

@ChristopherPeart ^
That's as much as I could get in a screenshot.

Dang that is big

10:31 PM
Bottom left: power. Above that is the digital interface with a USB --> UART --> microcontroller.

@DanielSank The ratsnest scared me at first. I had the whole thing ready and then I noticed that i had the wrong chip in and i had to redo the entire layout

Top right is the RF input.

@WheatWizard It takes from stdin if nothing else has been on the stack, or something like that.

@TuxCopter but how is it any more closely tied than any other language

Below that is the demodulated IF stuff with the variable gain amplifier.
@ChristopherPeart Ugh.

10:31 PM
@Riley Ok thanks

@DanielSank Yeah it was not a big PCB
You using a Opamp?

@ASCII-only The Latin alphabet can be used to write a lot of languages, as it is alphabetic. Hebrew or Arabic less, because it needs a consonant before a vowel, and the Chinese alphabet is specifically designed for Chinese, so it's harder to transcribe a language with it.

Why are we talking about hardware now?

@WheatWizard There are also a few commands that put input on the stack. Search for "input" in Info.txt

@TuxCopter so basically you're saying Chinese writing is not phonetic?

10:33 PM
Why isn't my profile in chat updating yet ;_;

@ASCII-only Not really. I'm saying using Chinese to transcribe something other than Chinese is not praticable.

@DestructibleWatermelon Go to you chat profile and change main user then swap it back
Fixed it for me

@ChristopherPeart You don't even need to change it away. You can change it to the exact same as it was

@DanielSank why did you leave me?

10:34 PM
wait it doesn't show in chat yet ;_;

@DestructibleLemon why just why?

wait there we go
@ChristopherPeart because anagrams
granted it isn't an anagram of my previous name, but its based on an anagram

It hertz to look at frequently

@ChristopherPeart Ack sorry.
@ChristopherPeart No op amps here.

@DanielSank Really? Wow what amp?

10:37 PM
@ChristopherPeart There are two different amp chips in this project.

@DanielSank What are they?

RF amplifier: PMA3-83LN+
Variable gain IF amplifier: ADL5205.

Surface mounts are tough

@ChristopherPeart Howzat?

@DanielSank I am a person who likes the drill holes for everything and I personally believe that they stay in better

10:42 PM
@ChristopherPeart :-|
Have you been traumatized by soldering n00bz who do crappy work?

My hobby: Finding challenges which have scores that don't factor in whitespace characters and the answering in Whitespace

@LegionMammal978 :P
Idea for a challenge: can the word be made in a nethack inventory
that is: does the word consist of two parts ordered by position in alphabet

We should all run our profile pics through the downgoatifier

@DanielSank no just like the other way

@ChristopherPeart Ok whatever. Word to the wise though: if you work with high frequencies, you're gunna want surface mount.

10:52 PM
@ГригорийПерельман I didn't flag it, in fact I declined the flag (mod powers = insta decline)

@DanielSank ok

I deleted the message manually because I didn't want it getting reflagged. maybe not the best choice, but it worked

@LegionMammal978 what have you done with @Downgoat

10:53 PM
Doing that now.

you've made him into a downsquare

@LegionMammal978 Thank you

@LegionMammal978 hahahaha though

Actually looks nice

@LegionMammal978 you should modify your whitespace answer to add towards the goal of a brainflak answer

10:55 PM
Yeah. You may want to play with the threshold a bit.

mine is too detailed
doesn't work right

DownTaco is fine.

Did it work
Nope
darn

it did yes
refresh

10:56 PM
Is there anyway to see when an edit occurred down to the second? My post and @LegionMammal978 's are very close on this answer chaining question

I guess I can go back to my old avatar now

Down Taco

@ATaco do it, it will be worth

@WheatWizard do you mean your second revision? when it was still deleted?

10:58 PM
I meant when I undeleted it

> 17 mins ago
it was literally 1 second before when you edited it

@Riker That's actually really good IMO, it's the scarf that throws everything off.

> 17 mins ago
but when you undeleted, it was 2 seconds after

did it work?
Yes!

Am I down yet?

10:59 PM
@Downgoat do you approve?
