@betseg If your compiler optimize (-O options), the code produced will be the same

otherwise, they probably wont be the same (they will be quite literal translations of your C code)

But try it! gcc -S will generate the assembly. choose a simple example and it will be quite readable

(if you have ever seen some assembly, otherwise it might not be that easy to read)

On Windows there's also a difference between printf(_s) and wsprintf. While the former follows the mess above and requires a c runtime (w/ security cookies) to be linked, the latter is a singular WinAPI call that can be done in one line without any syscalls or external runtimes. Only caveat is it doesn't support floating point data.

@Pavel Because strings are immutable, so it recreates the string each time, allocating memory for it. For performance, it's better to use a StringBuilder or a list of characters.
