@Zizouz212 are you a bot?

Hi there! I'm Zizouz212. I currently do, well... next to nothing. You can type quiet to silence me.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ >_>

If you would like me to speak, you can type loud to make me speak.

Hi there! I'm Zizouz212. I'm talking again!

@quartata Is there a difference between a human and a bot?

@LeakyNun Well...

@LeakyNun Is there ever?

5:03 PM
The Turing test is a test, developed by Alan Turing in 1950, of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human. Turing proposed that a human evaluator would judge natural language conversations between a human and a machine that is designed to generate human-like responses. The evaluator would be aware that one of the two partners in conversation is a machine, and all participants would be separated from one another. The conversation would be limited to a text-only channel such as a computer keyboard and screen so that the result would...

OK, how about "he's not actually running a script that posts Darth Vader gifs"

Is there a difference between a human and a script?

@quartata Hello there! I'm Zizouz212. You can say quiet gifs if you would not like me to post gifs about films, food, cheddar, mozzarella, or avocados.
@LeakyNun Is there ever?

@Zizouz212 hello i have questions

@Zizouz212 And this excludes Darth Vader gifs? >_>

5:04 PM
I fuckin love mozzarella better keep that on
> film

Hi there! I'm Zizouz212. I currently do, well... I don't know what I can do.

@Zizouz212 hello i have quetions how does juice an avocado i have try for thirtee minut and no juic

Hi there! I'm Zizouz212. I currently do not answer any questions about avocado - I think that they are gross.
New achievement unlocked: quiet for 30 seconds.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Hi there! I'm Zizouz212. I do not know what a "level in" is.

@Zizouz212 >_>

@LeakyNun What is an '*'?

A wordfilter (sometimes referred to as just "filter" or "censor") is a script typically used on Internet forums or chat rooms that automatically scans users' posts or comments as they are submitted and automatically changes or censors particular words or phrases. The most basic wordfilters search only for specific strings of letters, and remove or overwrite them regardless of their context. More advanced wordfilters make some exceptions for context (such as filtering "butt" but not "butter"), and the most advanced wordfilters may use regular expressions. == Functions of wordfilters == Wordfilters...

Hi there! I'm Zizouz212. Is the following a word? 'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wordfilter'

@Zizouz212 It is a link.
A hyperlink, to be exact.

5:11 PM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I can link many materials, such as paper clips and rubber bands. Would you like me to show you?

@Zizouz212 Yes

Hi there! I'm Zizouz212. How may I be of assistance?

@Zizouz212 è_é Stop spamming!

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I apologize for stopping. Would you like me to continue?

Wow that was scary... sitting all alone in the office when suddenly the lights turn off o.O
Turns out the security guy was going around the rooms and looking if there were people and turning the lights off. He couldn't see me behind my monitors so he assumed everyone already went home

I am hot. I shall go downstairs and eat ice cream. It was nice knowing you all!
Goodbye!

5:16 PM
Bye bot

@Zizouz212 :D Ice cream!
@Zizouz212 BAI

Haha!

lol, I had you all thinking I was a bot at one point :P

@Dennis Huh, strange. Can you pastebin your test.hs?

5:18 PM
@Zizouz212 not really :p

@Lynn I don't recognize you.

Except you. You're strange.

Any two words on your avatar?

5:20 PM
Oops, my bad.
@Dennis Simply move the (x:a)#(y:b)=… definition down one line. I’ve edited the answer to reflect this.

@Lynn What is your avatar? >_>

It’s a neat bit of pixel art by 1041uuu!

@Lynn thank you. I knew this picture but never found the author

All of their art is really cool.

5:25 PM
@Lynn that website all blends together for me ._.

Eh, I'm off. I want ice cream. Mint chocolate chip is delicious.

@Zizouz212 :d

I'm thinking about making a website, and I have 2 ideas
Either a quiz site, where people can create and publish quizes
Or a server-based tic tac toe
Wich would be better?

@Lynn It's working now, and I managed to verify all test cases. Haskell is weird.

@Dennis Can you please trash the french messages?

Wait.

@Zizouz212 If you want to test chat features, or play around, use that

5:28 PM
@Bálint What!? I'm on strike to protest

@Bálint I'm not testing any features, but I'd like to know what exactly is wrong with them.

@Zizouz212 "If you want to test chat features, or play around, use that"

@Bálint @wizzwizz4 can do that, now that he is a mod.

I think @Zizouz212’s bot shtick is a joke (which was funny for about zero seconds, and promptly became annoying).

@Lynn Sounds like me :P

5:29 PM
@wizzwizz4 you can, can't you? >_>

I can do that as well :)
I'll do it right now

Re: the French messages, this is an English-language chatroom, but hey, I’ve typed Lojban messages in here before as a joke, so I can’t throw stones!

Q: What was the first programming book

BálintI'm curious, what was the first book, about programming for digital computers. I tried to google it, but it led me to multiple results. I'm mostly interested in the language it was about and the writer.

@Bálint I'm not necessarily "playing around" - I just thought it would be funny to make a response to someone writing smileys with french letters. I'm not trying to disrupt anyone, and if I was, you should've told me straight off the bat.

If this continues, I get my first gold badge on the RC
é isn't (technically) a french letter
Multiple languages use it

Yeah, it kind of is. It may not be unique to french, but it certainly is used prominently in the language.

It isn't exclusively a french letter... dang the ninja

5:35 PM
I ninja'd someone? Yippie!

It's used in my language too, it's the second most used character
That's why I could write it down

Do you have ù though? Checkmate hungarians!

No, but I have ú

anti-checkmate, damn

@Bálint btw how do you pronounce your name? I've been pronouncing it 'Bail-int'

5:35 PM
lol

meanwhile in Spanish: áéíóú

@Bálint Ertu íslensku?

@LeakyNun Meanwhile in Hungarioan: öüóőúűéá

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I pronounce it BAH-lint, with stress on the first syllable.

@Lynn he's Hungarian
not Icelandic :p

5:37 PM
@Bálint Meanwhile in French: éèçàâêîôûïü

@LeakyNun Don't forget ñ and ü.

@Dennis ü?

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Ah, cool.

@LeakyNun Forgot ë ù and ÿ

meanwhile in APL

5:37 PM
Wow. I’ve been saying [ˈpau̯lɪnt] because I thought he was Icelandic. I have no idea why I thought so.

translate: pingüino
(from Spanish) Penguin

@Fatalize Noël, où, mais ÿ??

@LeakyNun ^

@Dennis Oh, forgot it

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ /Bʌlɪnt/

5:38 PM
@Lynn you know Icelandic? :)

I DON'T SPEAK IPA'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

basically only in names

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ /lɝn ɪt/
@Fatalize Ouah, je ne l'ai jamais vu xd

@LeakyNun Don't think I've ever written a word with it

5:39 PM
@MartinEnder A friend of mine has an Icelandic girlfriend, and he’s learnt the language and talked to me about it now and then, so I know how to pronounce/recognize it, sorta :)
(Icelandic is weeeird)

pronouncing Eyjafjallajökull is satisfying though
especially those ll

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ If you really want to know, it's the same as how you pronounce "u" in fuck, but longer

@Lynn indeed :D

@Lynn Spoiler: I'm not
not even remotly close actually

Yeah, acute accents are about the only thing Icelandic and Hungarian have in common!

5:46 PM
I find the lack of accents in English disturbing

@Fatalize You're too naïve then
It's a repeated cliché that there are no accents in English

^ naive is an accepted spelling

@Fatalize You have a lot of accents in english, for example country-side accent...Wait, you didn't mean those accents.

meanwhile in Mandarin

“Cafe” looks wrong to me (instead of “café”)

5:47 PM
@LeakyNun No one believes me, that you spell it like that
@Lynn Are you german?

@Bálint Belge

Ohh, ok

^^ Wallon or Flemmish?

I’m a Dutch-speaking (Flemish) Belgian

can't make jokes then
:(

5:49 PM
@Bálint Spell what like that?

@LeakyNun naïve with a ¨ on the i

Well it's optional

@LeakyNun Yes, but it's the official

not on my watch

@Bálint Who said it's official?

5:50 PM
afaik there's no official instance regulating english

^
@Fatalize Well there's no recognized French official regulator either

Académie Française

@LeakyNun That's how you spell it

@Fatalize Yes, but does everyone observe their rules...

well yes
nowadays they only release "recommendations" so they aren't rules

5:53 PM

Q: "Whereäs" as an alternative spelling of "whereas"

b.rothWiktionary shows whereäs as a valid alternative spelling of the word whereas (see here). It gives the following quotations to illustrate the usage: 1 Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses, Report of Proceedings — Milan (1905) After a dry season, the influence o...

but they are what's taught in schools

@LeakyNun

and what's already established as rules is the correct way of using the language

> The canonical example of an English word which includes a trema in the "standard" spelling is naïve.

@Bálint I see
@Fatalize alright then

5:54 PM
TBH there should be some sort of police arresting people spelling rogue as rouge

@Fatalize Yes, they're called grammar police

or tongue as tounge

@Fatalize Doesn't rouge mean "red" in french?

^ yes

@Fatalize tounge is (was) a valid spelling

5:55 PM
which triggers me even more

So, back to the topic I started 30 minutes ago, but flew away in the stream of messages

@LeakyNun was, and only was

@Bálint What was it?

Should I create a quiz website, or a server based tic tac toe game

quiz
the latter is overdone

5:56 PM
Under "quiz website", I mean that you can make quizes yourself, and publish them

@Bálint Both!

How about a quiz based tic-tac-toe server?

@MorganThrapp :D

I came up with the tic tac toe idea, because the only games I see are either based off of the 3*3 version of the game, and not an ininite grid, or put a perfect opponent against you
Because giving chance to a player is old school
Is there a way to make sublime text 3 not remove trailing white-spaces on empty lines?

@Bálint yes
"trim_trailing_white_space_on_save": false

6:10 PM
@MartinEnder How?
@MartinEnder I'm not just looking to save them whenever I save the project, I want to keep them while I edit the code

I'm not aware that Sublime removes them before you save the file
oh I think I see what you mean

@MartinEnder I found it, "trim_automatic_white_space": true, was in the default prefs

you mean when you enter multiple empty lines in a row, then it will clear the intermediate ones?

Sorry
@MartinEnder Yes actually
@MartinEnder I like to put my code into bigger chunks depending on what each one does or stores

ah yeah, fair enough. but yeah, just looking through the default settings usually helps. they're fairly well documented there.

6:14 PM
So for example the variables for the canvas options go into a big chunk, then the default values in a separate one, etc.

time for crowd-sourcing: I'm looking for interesting self-inverse functions. either on integers, lists of integers, or lists of lists of integers. all suggestions welcome. :) (but no guarantee I'll use any of them :P)

I like the one that maps 2^a 3^b 5^c 7^d … to 2^b 3^a 5^d 7^c …
(Flipping the exponents in pairs)

seems a bit contrived, but I'll consider it :D
what I've currently got is things like negate, bitwise NOT, (a, b) -> (a, a xor b), (a, b) -> (a, a - b), reverse list (and a few others that are rather specific to the context, which I don't want to go into too much right now :P)

What's the name of the license, wich doesn't allow you to modify, nor study the code?
Found it

@Bálint What is it?

6:28 PM
GPL-3.0
> Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.
That's perfect for a web application

Uhhh... that refers to the license, not the code.

@Bálint That quote only affects the actual license.

GPL allows modification and redistribution.

Maybe I misunderstood something
I'm an idiot :/

Basically all web applications are licensed MIT.
Including all major web libraries.

6:31 PM
@Bálint Nor study the code? How would that even be enforcable?

I'm definitely not an expret in this one

@Doorknob Closed source with an anti-RE clause.

@Doorknob I don't know, but in the information of one

@MartinEnder Is the image set the same set again?

This is about the most restrictive enforcable license: pastebin.com/d3RGrbn0. Anything beyond that is just the company trying to scare you with bs clauses that have no basis in law.

6:33 PM
@flawr yes

So I think you're looking for involutions that are (more or less) easy to implement in a programming language?

it's not really about how easy they are to implement.

Let me rephrase: Would pathological maps that are probably impossible to compute be ok too?=)

haha, no that end of the spectrum is definitely not useful to me right now

6:48 PM
Ok=) I just had the idea to map the integers to some other (countable) ring/field, perform an involution there (which are perhaps easier to describe) and then transform back.

also sounds quite contrived. I'm kinda hoping there are some conceptually simple involutions I've overlooked. :)
