@quartata what should the syntax be then?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It's not really an inside joke. i'd explain it to you but then I'd spoil the game and who knows you might play it

@quartata what's it called?

Well, I have a few... Lucario, Gardevoir

@Downgoat {key: value, key: value, ...}
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ SUPERHOT

Anyways, I really need to go now

2:00 AM
@Zizouz212 Oic.
@Zizouz212 bai
@quartata o..kay

Bai :)

@Zizouz212 bai!

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It's capitalized like that

Though I am leaving now. BAI

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ¬_¬

2:01 AM
@quartata oh goody, someone who uses hotmail

Wow, small world. I was looking at the contributor list for Pokemon Showdown and noticed this guy on the major contributor list

fun fact, my profile icon is inspired by a pokemon

gengar right?

I'm guessing quartata's is too :P

popularity contest: who has the most views on their ppcg profile

2:03 AM
@quartata haunter

Only 899 views here.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ 2,041

profile on stackoverflow or ppcg?

ppcg.
orlp would win on so prolly

2:04 AM
559 profile views on ppcg

> on their ppcg profile

@Downgoat I think in your case most of those are from the morbidly curious :P
And most of mine are probably accidents from people trying to downvote me.

does anyone here have < 101 rep on any site that has the assoc bonus?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ no

2:07 AM
1748

@StackExchange it's been two months and no community ads...

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I do.

@AlexA. which site?

Alex A., Seattle, WA

2:08 AM
Oh, it's because bounty.

I had to place a bounty
Ninja'd

Darn. I thought you posted a question with -20 votes

oh wait, I do...
Downgoat, The Glorious California Bay Area

@Geobits Do you have a different name on every site? o_O

>_>

2:09 AM
the bountied answer didn't even work for me ;_;

Then why did you award it?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Uuuuuhhhhhh.... let's just say there was a reason for that.

@Geobits ... -.-

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Can I assume that's you going around upvoting my network posts then? :P

@AlexA. because the bounty would of been awarded automatically anyway
so I thought why not just award the whole thing....

2:10 AM
s/of/have/

@Geobits Sorry, yeah. I didn't even realize I was doing it
o_o resists clicking up button

No need to apologize. I was just curious who it was. They usually trickle in slower than that :)

will the system kill me if I upvote you again ? :P

Depends on the site

multiple sites

2:11 AM
spice it up a bit throw in some downvotes

@quartata ok

I don't think the script will detect it across multiple sites, but tbh I have no idea.

Yeah, the serial script isn't cross-site
But SE still knows all

@AlexA. Thanks for the info. alters serial-downvote-bot

2:12 AM
okay, downvote was their for 1 minute, then I upvoted. I think that'll throw them off my scent
@AlexA. They could just look at the chat...

Or you could just vote normally

^

Sorry, I was looking at his top posts
they're so interesting

I like to think so :D

Ugh I have spent more time trying to link this than I have coding it
c++ in a shellnut

2:13 AM
:D
this is beauty

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ brb maikng my desktop bacground

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ That was my first answer here.

@Geobits really? that's cool!

Damn popcons and their ability to draw new people in.

2:16 AM
alright this is so weird--I swear I've read the "all color" challenge and upvoted at least the question, but it says that I didn't ._.

The Programming Language Quiz brought me here

Oh wow... I had no idea you were such a noob.
>_>

2:22 AM
If I did, it would only be to host Marky. And I'd train him more specifically in the art of goat curry.

how does juice an avocado I have try for thirtee minut and no juic

@Downgoat You should probably try and get your hands on chedd.ar or cheddarla.ng

@Geobits ಡ_ಡ
@quartata ohh, good idea
there is no .ar or .ng :(

@orlp Excuse me good sirs but I have a small question. How should one approach extracting the juice of a Hass avocado? I have tried to juice said avocado for an half an hour and, sadly, I have obtained no juice
@Downgost tlds for argentina and nigeria respectively

> an half

2:27 AM
@quartata tak avocad, poot glas beelo avocad, sqweez avocad, sqweez harder, wat for juic to com out
> Registering a .AR domain directly is not allowed, only the 8 second-level domains below are open to everyone, although a local presence in Argentina is required.

@Doorknob I cannot edit it deal
less grammar nitpick more star

@quartata Please take care when trying to juice an avocado, for they are notoriously bad at the task. For instance, if you try using a regular juicer, it simply will not work. The best method I have found is to scoop the avocado into a blender. Puree for a short amount of time, while adding small amounts of your choice of liquids to the mixture.

@Geobits what is a juicer? did you mean juicr?

No. It is a common mistake, my lad, but I indeed meant juicer.

@Downgoat and .ng?

2:30 AM
@Geobits wat is juicer

I never tried to get quar.tatar

@quartata registration website doesn't work
ok

@Downgoat try emailing them?

nvm got it to work
> $75.00 USD
O_o
that is waay to much for a .ng domain

if they ask what it is for say you are trying to bring cheese to poverty stricken areas of Nigeria

2:34 AM
@quartata hahaha

75 a year isn't all that bad

... it's not available

cheddarla.ng? I find that hard to believe
do a dig

i tried
this is weird

@Downgoat Hey you're on a mac right?

2:36 AM
or whois

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ yeah

Could you do me a favor?

yeah?

Open up neovim and type :echo $NVIM_LISTEN_ADDRESS

¬_¬ uh huh, and give you my ssh keys? no way

2:37 AM
It's for V.
I want to make sure it can run on all 3 major OSes.

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ ^
pleasd don't jave me

0_o Okay, was not expecting such a long path.
If you type export NVIM_LISTEN_ADDRESS=/tmp/nvim before launching nvim, does it change the output?
Wait, do macs have a /tmp folder?

yeah
are you trying to heartbleed me?
now it just outputs /tmp/nvim

No, I'm trying to DDOS you.

don't

2:40 AM
@Downgoat Oh, perfect, that's what I was hoping for.

yes although it is a symbolic link to /private/tmp/

^

mach amirite fellas

what?

That means that "in theory" mac support should be pretty easy.

2:41 AM
yay?

Atleast, after I hack you. :P

you're a mac user and you don't know that mach is os x's kernel? ok
anyways
@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ link to V's repo?

Unfortunately, right now it has a lot of dependencies and doesn't offer a ton of improvements over vim.
Probably because vim is already great at golf.
Atleast, for certain types of challenges.

@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ D:
you're using python
-0 for not using nodejs

Wait you can pipe commands into neovim holy smokes that's cool

2:46 AM
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I like python.
@quartata I know it's awesome!

^

One of the things about the neovim-python pipe is really cool is that it can even evaluate vimscript in the middle of insert mode, or normal mode with an operator pending.

niice
You could probably add mathy things pretty easily then.

Yeah, I think "mathy" things are one of the biggest things vim as a golf-lang is missing.
That and control-flow.

3:34 AM
"That and control-flow"

Meh. Who ever uses control flow?

Does anyone else here know JavaScript?

@Downgoat I do

okay, I have a question:

Yes...?

if I have a class named "Foo". Can I specify some variables before the class is constructed?
e.g.
class Foo {
    constructor() {
        this.baz = this.bar;
    }
}
how could I set this.bar?

3:40 AM
With the prototype maybe

but I would have to edit Foo itself correct?
I can't create an instance without calling constructor

I don't think so.

D:
brb remaking entire Cheddar interpreter

You could have it bypass the body of the constructor, but generally creating an instance requires calling constructor.

what do you mean by that?

3:42 AM
Then again, don't take my word for it, ask some other people as ES6 features aren't my forté.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ '^'*13

@Downgoat I mean like constructor(doNotConstruct){ if(!doNotConstruct){ code } } to bypass the constructor, but I'm sure that's not what you mean.

@Cyoce no, sorry for the confusion
someone should make a fastest-code to generate a range [a, b)

@Downgoat I hate exclusive range.

@Cyoce do you like inclusive range better?

3:46 AM
@Downgoat Yes. Exclusive range is annoying to work with.

should Cheddar use inclusive range for it's range op then?

@Downgoat IMMHO, yes.

Just the fact that the notation for exclusive range [a,b) is asymmetrical is indicative of its unnaturalness and unusefulness.
Wow that was a mouthful (keyboardful?)
For example, in Python, I rarely end up typing range(a,b); I always type range(a,b+1).

Anonymous
Woohoo, meta fanatic

3:56 AM
Or you can do it like Ruby and have an inclusive (..) and exclusive (...) range operator

Anonymous
@Cyoce Than your b is wrong :P

@Mego my b? I don't follow

Anonymous
@Cyoce You don't need range(a,b+1). You need b=b+1;range(a,b).

@Mego except b is normally an expression.

Anonymous
Well then fix your expression :P

4:00 AM
@Mego I do! I fix my expression by adding +1 that's the point :P :P
¯\( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ಠ)_/
The only saving grace of exclusive range is range(len(someList)), but that's more of a fault of 0-indexed lists.

4:21 AM
20 minutes... You lost your turn, NMP.

Q: Should Booleans be allowed where a number is required?

DennisThis is a rather common inquiry in contests that require computing elements of a sequence. For example, consider the following recursive implementation of the factorial function (Python): f = lambda n:n<1or n*f(n-1) This works well for all positive n; f(n) returns the required result as an in...

ALL IS VOID AND MEANINGLESS

Sure, post it now. eleven

4:37 AM
lol

5:11 AM
@QPaysTaxes what was wrong with Ruby? D:
@QPaysTaxes You should get back into JavaScript, everyone knows Java and JavaScript are practically the same
@QPaysTaxes ಠ_ಠ which ever mod does that is not getting my vote next year

@Downgoat Well, that's too bad since mods have the position indefinitely...

@El'endiaStarman wait really?
I thought they had to get reelected every year??

Yup. Nope.
I was elected four years ago, IIRC. :P
Or die, but I don't know if that's ever happened.

@El'endiaStarman didn't that happen on C.SE?

@Downgoat Top user, not mod.

5:16 AM
@QPaysTaxes So StackExchange = Life?

@QPaysTaxes EST, UTC -4.
@QPaysTaxes Yeah. :(

@QPaysTaxes aren't you EST also?
but lack sleep is bad for you whether or not you have school...
oh ok
how should bigint promotion occur?
Whenever I do a calculation should I check if that exceeds MAX_SAFE_INT, and if it does, promote and redo the math?
there is little reference
also, should bigint demotion occur also?

5:52 AM
-_- JavaScript constructors aren't inherited... wtf js

6:07 AM
@Downgoat No
@Downgoat wat
Pretty sure they are
Maybe Babel doesn't support it yet though
@Downgoat Yes

@Downgoat A lot more true with ES6
@QPaysTaxes lat * 1000000 + long * 1000000?
wait
@QPaysTaxes Best to store them seperately
@QPaysTaxes Exactly
you need last 16 bits of lat << 16 + last 16 bits of long
((lat & 0xFFFF) << 16) + (long & 0xFFFF)
Would probably be good enough
or first 16 bits, doesn't really matter
last 16 is probably better if you have very close locations though

@QPaysTaxes love when that happens. hate when it takes so long to realize.
And what language is this? Sorry
What's the (premise?)?
(obviously it (seems to be) a concatenative language, but other than that)
Sounds slow :)

6:35 AM
I HAVE DISCOVERED THE MOST TERRIFYING GLITCH IN ALL OF TF2
I HAVE 3 ARMS
IN THIRD PERSON
Yes! Good math

@QPaysTaxes what is this?
Oh
I have no idea whether to start supporting Concaten/stack code-based languages right now
@QPaysTaxes ?
@QPaysTaxes Google translate says it's 'What's happening'
It's supposed to be 'Was ist das', apparently
To answer your question: that is an interpreter I'm creating for Cheddar
@QPaysTaxes Because I was helping Downgoat with Cheddar before
And then I wanted to create a more language-agnostic interpreter. I'm not sure how language-agnostic it is - I haven't implemented anything other than basic Cheddar in it yet
Well, I guess, but Rennet requires you to define your language's grammar, so it should support quite a few languages
@QPaysTaxes It doesn't have to
Regex is just easier for me
@QPaysTaxes these things are the final tokens to parse with?
What do you mean by that? ^^
