12:00 AM
@EasterlyIrk yes

@QPaysTaxes TIL

@quartata Cereal and soy milk, boyee.

@AlexA. It's 2 AM and I'm eating.

@QPaysTaxes Washingtonians aren't allowed to eat from 4:50 to 5:10pm you see

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ wrong message to reply to.... :P

12:00 AM
@AlexA. I don't even see how you could have possibly not eaten since

@mınxomaτ Why are you eating at 2am

#bestoutofcontextever
@AlexA. because he wants to

@quartata I'm damn hungry

@EasterlyIrk No, that was the right message.

@AlexA. Because I'm hungry. I was told the best way to prevent getting hungry is to eat.

12:01 AM
@AlexA. I can't even walk, think or talk if I go without food for that long

@HelkaHomba Under penalty of martial law
@mınxomaτ I don't think that's true
@quartata That's probably why it's taken me until 5pm to finish this ._.

roflmao
@AlexA. has a girlfriend according to earlier messages.
so his crush already knows

Go drink some crush

She's not home at the moment but she'd probably be a little upset if I mentioned that I went this long without eating anything. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@HelkaHomba Is that orange soda?

s/orange/avocad/

12:04 AM
@AlexA. Nah, just "orange"

@aditsu You can't make soda out of avocad if you can't even juic it.
@HelkaHomba Hahahaha that's wonderfully mysterious

@QPaysTaxes That's why I don't let my parents know if ever :P

who said I can't juic it? :)
3

@QPaysTaxes Did he ever do it?
@aditsu ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

@QPaysTaxes I was able to in seventh grade. meh

12:05 AM
@QPaysTaxes Nice! :D

@AlexA. ಠ_ಠ

@QPaysTaxes o-o
That's rather lucky

EAT@AlexA.

hahaha

@QPaysTaxes Dude, do you have some sort of feeding-people-fetish? o.O
2

12:07 AM
^

@QPaysTaxes how long did that last?

There are worse fetishes...

@QPaysTaxes Did that happen to you? ._.

@QPaysTaxes If someone finds Alex's bird carcass they might just cook it anyhow

@QPaysTaxes Oh god. I'm so sorry. :(
I'm not a starling...
Magpie, son

12:09 AM
@AlexA.YOU ARE NOW

He was a goose once

This is true

@QPaysTaxes really?

Those were dark times

12:10 AM

@QPaysTaxes ಠ_ಠ
(¬ ˚o˚)¬
...yes?

Yay! My new language is finally winning a challenge! codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/77913/36670

forcefeed you

foie gras of magpie

@GamrCorps Nice :D

12:12 AM
@AlexA. Go eat food, or you'll be late.

@Doorknob Be late for what?

He could be eating right now. Bird feeders are everywhere

late = dead

@AlexA. EAT PHODE

Eat phone?

12:12 AM
@AlexA. WORMS ARE EVERYWHERE

@AlexA. Late as in the late Alex A. You see, it's a threat of sorts. I've never been particularly good at them.
4

@GamrCorps Nice!

@Doorknob XD

@Doorknob (—paraphrased from Slartibartfast in HHGGTG :P)

@Doorknob rofl

12:13 AM
@AlexA. go eat food, or you'll get down

and boogie?

ah, magpie didn't get the reference

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ TF2 is installing.

This topic should not have lasted this long, even here

@EasterlyIrk :D

12:14 AM
@HelkaHomba Yeah really

@HelkaHomba but it's important that he eats /s

Alex has been eating since the day he was born. He probably remembers how

OH GOD HOW DOES INSERT FOOD THING INTO FACE HOLE
9
I FORGET

Use biggest hole for starters

haha

12:15 AM
bai for dinner
@AlexA. hint hint
but seriously bai

Alright I'm going to roam around the kitchen for a while. o/

Crepes are easy!

RIP Alex

Is stack-based really better?

for what? golfing?

12:18 AM
yes

@KennyLau in most cases, no, but in some simple challenges, yes.
^

For example, I just got defeated here codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/77905/48934

I wouldn't say there's an advantage to stacks, but rather there's often an advantage of pre-/postfix notation.

(Wait why is the winner gone)

Most of the solutions from stack-based languages that I have seen always include a good amount of fiddling with the stack to get the stuff in the right order

12:19 AM
@PhiNotPi Which is better? Pre or post?

polish notation vs. reverse polish notation should be equally good i think

They're basically identical: which one a language uses depends on what more intuitively reflects how the language operates under the hood.

i guess they would be different for implicit input actually

BTW, @KennyLau I saw this answer on the same question and I thought it was you and said to myself, "where the heck did all of his rep go??" After that I checked his profile and realized it wasn't you

without it they are effectively equivalent

12:21 AM
Except in cases where it doesn't (see: Phigs)

Anyway, my pyth solution got defeated by this convex.tryitonline.net/…

@Dennis Thanks also for the edit! I really should go to bed :-)

But I realized that this used 2 arguments instead of arbitrarily many

:O

so maybe I could also edit my solution...

12:22 AM
probably comment on it

@KennyLau my solution is so small because I interpreted the rules as many of the other answers did. We have yet to have a reply from the OP to what goes and what doesn't.

it's gone
@GamrCorps Oh it was yours?

yeah

@GamrCorps Click here
Now we're equal :p

Hahaha good game

12:26 AM
@GamrCorps You deleted it?

no

Why can't I see your solution

weird... not sure, its still there for me... what are you sorting answer by?

TF2 installed, will play tommorrow. I'll ping you so you maybe play with me?
bai

@GamrCorps Can you share your link to me?

@Doorknob Google doesn't want you to forfeit your win due to...negligence. ;-)

@HelkaHomba was that I reply to my message or doorknobs?

you

oohhhhh, now I get it :P

12:39 AM
@Doorknob hype?

Rough draft of one of the enemy pics for a game design I've started working on

It reminds me of Optimizer

@Doorknob How does the difficulty of a round compare to the qualifier?

@PhiNotPi I dunno, I've only done this one other time (last year)

12:42 AM
Is it more a matter of finishing, or more a matter of being in the first 1000 to finish?

<hype>hype</hype>

@PhiNotPi The latter.
Speed really is everything.

Well, last year the lowest scoring person to pass 1A had a score of 48
So you don't have to finish

@Doorknob What's your gcj username? Didn't seem to be doorknob or Doorknob. :-P

keyboardfire?

12:44 AM
Ah, right.

@Doorknob I forgot about that.

15 minutes!

Also, Rust? You're brave.

:D

12:45 AM
so its caps-sensitive apparently
adding people on gcj

@poi830 Yes, it is.

but why

I'm pretty comfortable in Rust at this point, moreso than C/C++, and I don't want to use Ruby because runtime is rather important. If it's clear that the bottleneck is the algorithm and not the speed of the language, though, I may switch over to Ruby on some of the problems

@poi830 Presumably because it's just a SQL lookup.

@ChrisJester-Young for some reason your name is only italicized in chat but when I click on it, only then it becomes blue

12:46 AM
@Doorknob Aye. In previous years I used Perl a lot for speed reasons, but I often find Racket fast enough, so. :-P

uh oh where's @AlexA.? is he going to participate in 1A or is he still putting food thing in face hole?

@Doorknob Probably that.

@Downgoat bug confirmed

12:55 AM
@Doorknob Oops, I was logged in under the wrong account.

ah

@PhiNotPi That could get embarrassing fast.

@Dennis from what I understand about the new input format, does this mean that the input HAS to be a SINGLE string?

3 minutes

12:57 AM
3 mins until what

@Doorknob notebook > 3 pieces of paper

@GamrCorps I think the spec shows a few possibilities. I'll look into it in 150 minutes.
