Ok, thanks.

@AlexA. can i has angry duck face?

TIO's unofficial name is IDETwo

@EasterlyIrk Are you unable to construct one yourself? It only requires 3 key presses, 4 if you count holding down shift.

Yes.
I can't.

@ANerd-I No, I have a few in Ruby, C, C#, Java, etc.

12:16 AM
Perl!
And what you called an "obscure esolang"

Which one was that?
Groovy!

Groovy.

ninja'd

@Dennis In the distant future, you might have one from me and others in Java. I'm making it as I learn Java.
ninja'd
ugh, my ninja'd was ninja'd. That hurts.

It would.

I was about to say that :P so I was ninja ninja ninja'd

12:40 AM
@AquaTart Ton Hospel makes me want to learn Perl for golfing.

We need to superping him so we can steal his soul in chat.

Does python have like a spread operator so foo(...[1,2,3]) -> foo(1,2,3)?

@Vihan foo(*[1,2,3])

thanks

The bird spread its nonfunctioning wings before it splat!

@AlexA. relavent ^

@EasterlyIrk why is this relevant to alex?

._.

@MamaFunRoll Prepare for the wrath of angry birds.
@Vihan @AlexA. = bird.

@EasterlyIrk oh, yeah

12:47 AM
@EasterlyIrk The Lisp term is apply.

@Zgarb JS ES5 also uses an apply function.

python would be as good (if not better) than JavaScript, only if it had multiline anonymous functions...
how would I split a string at an index in Python?
split( [1,2,3], 1) -> [1,2] [3]

@Vihan just a string or any array? Also keep the split element?

yeah

@Vihan lambda x, i: (x[:i+1], x[i+1:])

12:50 AM
@Zgarb thank you

Aaand this:

@EasterlyIrk I honestly don't know if he knows about chat: the chat indicator in the sidebar does look a little like an ad if you don't look at it carefully...

I just realized that if I make a chess-based esolang, I already have an "editor" written for me.

@Doorknob how would a chess-based esolang even work?

@Vihan Each square could store stuff and the pieces could act like operations on the squares they land on
It wouldn't be TC but it would be cool

it would be even cooler with an animated interpreter...

1:17 AM
there are ways it could be turing-complete

It would have to be an infinite grid.

@AquaTart Why?

ignoring 50-move rule and such
@AquaTart no it wouldn't

Oh wait

El'endia and I discussed this a while ago

1:17 AM
I'm stupid
10

Is it just me or do you also read turing as turning?

OK, you just need to be able to store at least two integers and manipulate them
Or just one really.
I see my stupidity is being judged already

@AquaTart You just derped in two chatrooms simultaneously. Get it together, man :P

@AquaTart I think they did

There's Town, Mafia, and other
We'll share roles for this game.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ so I shouldn't tell you my role? :P

@Dennis I did

7:13 here.

wow that's pretty early

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Us west-coasters got it early.
It's still light outside because of DST.

@Dennis my "improve this answer" do you mean "edit"?
DST?

@EasterlyIrk oh, california

@Vihan I wasn't a member of Biology (although I just created an account to flag that), so there was no edit link.

@Vihan same.

Is this answer spam or a bad joke? — Downgoat 10 mins ago
@Vihan How would it not be spam?

it's not
just rude/abusive

@AlexA. it could be a bad joke

it's only spam if he's trying to sell you chicken pot pie or whatever

2:22 AM
@Vihan Either way it doesn't belong there

I flagged as Not an Answer

don't do that

why?

6 rude/abusive flags autonukes the post and feeds the user into SpamRam
NAA contributes nothing towards the post being deleted

though it's not rude or abusive

2:24 AM
sure it is
> A reasonable person would find this content inappropriate for respectful discourse.

@Vihan How is "bomb Nigeria" not rude or abusive?

imagine having a conversation with a stranger and then them saying... that

(albeit incorrectly spelled)

@AlexA. Bom =\= bomb

Given that "pot" was misspelled, I'm willing to bet that "bom" was a misspelling of "bomb."

2:28 AM
Now I think it's just randomly generated spam

now you think?

yes

what dark side?

Use of Julia

what's wrong with julia

2:31 AM
It's obviously the worst language ever

I'm making a new language. Any suggestions on how many bits I should use to store integers?

1

oh it's probably because OS X is stupid

ಠ_ಠ

@MamaFunRoll 16 bits

2:35 AM
Um... okay. How about 128?

1

that's waaaaaaay to many

128 is 127 too many

@Doorknob base64</dev/ra*|tr -d +/|head -c8

@MamaFunRoll that's like up to 3.402823669209385e+38

2:35 AM
This language is supposed to be good with bit manipulations.

Then definitely 1

why must you to reinvent integers?

But... how do you add?

Or... dynamically sized ints.... maybe?

+?

2:36 AM
@MamaFunRoll very carefully

@AlexA. Nah, only bitwise commands.

a.addValueToAnotherValue(b)

will there be bit-shits?

@GamrCorps Actually, this might work.

@Dennis nice

2:37 AM
@Vihan Yeah. totally.
It'll all be in there.

> bit-shits
._.

@Dennis Dennis even golfs in nonexistent challenges
3

Y'know what? Screw it, I'll probably go with 2048-bit integers.
'Cuz why not?
:)

'Cuz thaz 2 mani

@MamaFunRoll if there's no recursion you'd have to do ((a^b)^c) for the first bit, then ((a^b)&c)^(a&b)

2:39 AM
@AlexA. 2047 too many?

@Doorknob At least!

@Vihan No there will be, just no arithmetic operators.

@MamaFunRoll ಠ_____________ಠ
your RAM will hate you for doing that

@MamaFunRoll I know that CJam has dynamically sized integers. Just peek at the source code there if you need help (its in Java). The method is Ops#adjustInt

2:40 AM
@GamrCorps How would that work for bitshifts? Especially rightshift.

@MamaFunRoll That... is up for you to determine...

Yeah CJam starts with numbers as longs and if they overflow it upgrades it to a BigInteger

@Vihan You'll see. It's a more... bare-bones... method.
@AquaTart Oic. Hmm...

Ruby's numbers start as Fixnums and become Bignums if they get... big

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

2:42 AM
Julia's numbers start as Int, where Int is a typealias for Int32 or Int64, depending on your platform. Then they overflow if they overflow.

Well that escalnumed quickly

You can promote them to BigInts though, but the promotion isn't automatic.

JavaScript starts with its floats, and if they get to big it just cries

In Rust you're required to specify the size of all ints. So i32 is a standard int, etc. (and overflow is a panic, I think, but I might not be remembering correctly, or that might have changed)

panic!("Oh shit");

2:43 AM
I dislike rust for that reason.

I dislike rust because it's a pain to remove...

I dislike rust because it makes mechanisms like hinges difficult to operate. I enjoy Rust though.

llama@llama:~/code/misc$ cat avodad.rs

I remember reading a very compelling reason as to why this happens

avodad == avocad?

however, I can no longer remember that reason
@Vihan what is avocad?

2:45 AM
advadaco

That looks underripe

@Doorknob you don't know?

Why would it?

At least over charcoal

I sit down to watch a 2 minute youtube video and next thing I know this chat is being spammed with pictures of avacados.

Does everyone in this room have a avocad fetish?

2:51 AM
@AlexA. High fat content, probably would cause lots of flare ups

@Vihan Yes

@GamrCorps roflmao

@AquaTart Avocado oil has a really high flashpoint though

@HelkaHomba How can you live in California and not like avocados

@HelkaHomba What don't you like about them? Is it taste, texture?

@AquaTart Washington I think.

@HelkaHomba Preach!

2:53 AM
@ANerd-I yes definitely.

Texture I guess

I think even Chatgoat likes avocad

That's fair

@EasterlyIrk No (I have lived in both)

2:54 AM
oh.
cool

There are varieties that are less creamy
I can understand though

Non-creamy avocados are a steaming pile of heresy.

Though I can't quite recollect the flavor

^^
@HelkaHomba nuttyish

My avocado tastes very ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

2:56 AM
There are also varieties called anti-vacdo that annihilate your stomach acid when in contact. If I recall correctly, these are actually mistaken to be other types all of the time. Better be careful when the next time you put that disgusting piece of filth in your mouth.
Sorry for the cruelness
