@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ from a long time user too. :(
I just flagged the answer. A moderator will probably delete it soon
@DJMcMayhem >_> have you seen some of his answers?
@PythonMaster yeah, but that was kind of nullified by the user golfing his code
@PythonMaster .....why? it's golfed right now
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ was
DJMcMayham rollbacked the golfed version
@DJMcMayhem Luckily, my flag was approved...
20:05
not nuked though
@DJMcMayhem -1 why can't I ping you with @DJ
There are nine other users you can ping now with that
...?
there's only 1 DJ in chat pingable
@D has 9 people
Like Dennis, Downgoat, Doorknob, Destructible Watermelon, Dlosc, Dada, daHugLenny,
DJ has 1
@PythonMaster none have DJ
I thought the the last char was "]"

@GabrielBenamy At least he got an upvote...
idk, I can't view upvotes yet
@GabrielBenamy no, not poor guy
20:08
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ yeah, but it's almost never appropriate to edit code on PPCG
yeah, he's done that before
oh wait, I can??
@DJMcMayhem in addition to posting non-answers or answers that just plain don't work when tested
1 min ago, by Gabriel Benamy
oh wait, I can??
he's having an existential crisis, let him be ;)
:34454618 I always thought it was just one of those things that you saw by defualt, I didn't realize you had to click the score first
Ah that makes sense :)
20:10
I think he means that he can't see the vote count
I said that he had an upvote because his rep count is at 11
@PythonMaster no, he can
Say what
this just in: ppcg user @GabrielBenamy doesn't know what he's talking about. More at 11.
Ouch... must been confused by redstarcoder
@GabrielBenamy it's not poor guy because it's a bad answer
20:12
@GabrielBenamy 11? My clock says 2 PM
@GabrielBenamy I eagerly await the 11 o'clock news.
I'M FROM THE FUTURE!
there is absolutely no reason for that to have any upvotes in it's current state
@PythonMaster ... you haven't watched the 11 PM news?
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ It might have gotten it while golfed.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I think not
20:13
yeah, "in it's current state"
Right. I agree with that ;)
Correct
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ guy sees programming challenge. guy codes programming challenge. guy gets hounded for not knowing what "golfing" means in terms of programming because he likely came here via HNQ instead of code golf in general. guy gets two downvotes and nobody bothers to say anything to him.
yeah, that's not okay
I didn't say he should get downvotes though
What! I posted two comments explaining what to do, read the Help Center, and to view the code-golf questions to clarify my first question!
20:14
@GabrielBenamy people did say stuff though
I don't know that "nobody bothers to say anything to him" is true though.
@PythonMaster before or after downvotes?
I don't know, just asking
Before
I was the first to see that user's answer
fair enough, I can't see the order in which things happen
Yes, I am still here after the two-ish hours of posting my question
20:14
@GabrielBenamy Need more rep for that :P
Ok, as much as it pains me to say this, that's probably enough bacon.
@GabrielBenamy nah, it's just a plugin I have to chat from the terminal cause I'm trying to work and too many tabs
Of course. You can test one of the answers at my question for excessive bacon
Interesting
Using a terminal window instead of another tab sounds funny to me, but hey, whatever floats your boat :P
20:19
>github
time to scream in confusion
Or confused screaming
@Geobits works for me :P
github needs to have a special file in a repository where you can just "git-run [website]" and it downloads the repo and installs it for you
You have a boat?! XD
so I don't have to do all this fiddling with
20:22
(5*w+1)*(4*h+1)
-~(5*w)*-~(4*h)
~(5*w)*~(4*h)
Imagine that
git start
git initialize
git goto [website]
git download
cd ./bizarre/path/to/downloaded/git/repo
git unpack -f
make random-file-name.whatever
@PythonMaster yes, that's completely worthy of a flag
god forbid you mess up one of those commands, or the online git repo gets nuked and you have to email them letting them know that you accidentally destroyed their entire repo and they have to re-upload it and suddenly whatever you wanted wasn't really worth it to begin with
20:29
idk what git goto or git unpack are
or git download
@PythonMaster: Have you read the Chatiquette?
@noɥʇʎԀʎzɐɹƆ, @ZacharyT, and whoever else owns the bots in beep boop: whoever owns these bots, you seriously need to clean them up. I'm seeing multiple references to things like "assassinate trump" and "kim jong un" and "osama bin laden"
I don't own any bots!
20:34
at this point, these bots are asking for a long suspension
@redstarcoder my bad, that's what "I think" was for. You were in the room and I'm not sure who owns what
No problem :)
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I've already flagged multiple bots in that room
yeah, it's getting out of control
And I thought South Park Marky was bad >_>
@Geobits it was quite funny until it got really bad
20:36
^
there's a line of "kenny quotes from south park" and "cartman quotes from south park".
@El'endiaStarman Now I have... haven't seen it before
@redstarcoder the point is that it's impossible to keep track of everything and if all I wanna do is run something someone uploaded, I shouldn't have to memorize 80 commands, I should just be able to be like "git run [url]" and it will download, unpack, and run a standardized file, which will install it for you
@PythonMaster If you ever want to refer back to it, it's linked in the upper right corner, in the room description area.
@Geobits Thanks.
@GabrielBenamy Even better: they should keep track of projects in standardized repositories. Then you could just say something like, oh, I dunno... apt-get install thing
:P
20:41
Just saying, the Meta link in the Chatiquette is not working for me. Google is saying that it is not safe and that attackers could be using that website to steal my information
@GabrielBenamy I'm not sure how your environment is but with golang I can literally do "go install github.com/user/repo/cmd/app" then "./app" to run it. I can see the source with "cd $GOPATH/src/github.com/user/repo". But that command isn't complex, it's basically just git clone + go build.
Here's the message from Google:
This server could not prove that it is meta.codegolf.stackexchange.com; its security certificate is from *.stackexchange.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection. Learn more.
@PythonMaster IIRC there's a long-standing issue with Meta sites and https (or lack thereof).
Don't worry about it.
Whoever owns the chatiquette page should probably fix the link though.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'll use the boring algorithm
20:44
@Geobits Yeah, probably. That might be @Doorknob? (The Meta link in the Chatiquette probably should link to the http version of the site.)
iirc doorknob and.. alex? did chatiquette
That would make sense.
looks like that, yeah
dennis seems have contributed also though
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ hehe
i;f(w,h){w=w*5+1;for(i=0;i<w*4*h+w;++i){putchar(i%w<w-1?i/w%4?i%w%5%4?61:40+i/w‌%2:45:10);}}
kinda proud of this one
it's bacon!
you're really freaking good at making really weird programs
just an fyi if you haven't noticed that about yourself ;)
20:54
I just noticed I can shave two bytes
i;f(w,h){w=w*5+1;for(i=0;i<w*4*h+w;++i)putchar(i%w<w-1?i/w%4?i%w%5%4?61:40+i/w%‌2:45:10);}
what's i; for?
at the start
to declare i

orlpC, 91 89 bytes i;f(w,h){w=w*5+1;for(i=0;i<w*4*h+w;++i)putchar(i%w<w-1?i/w%4?i%w%5%4?61:40+i/w%2:45:10);}

here is the answer itself
I have a lot of C answers in a similar fashion though
basically for(i=0;i<width*height;++i) <big expression that evaluates to characters at coordinates (i%w, i/w)>
i'm ready to sleep
@El'endiaStarman that was fast, alex merged my PR and links should be fixed now in the chatiquette
21:05
Haha, awesome.
he actually merged 11 minutes ago, 2 minutes after the PR
@muddyfish Internet.
@TuxCopter are you sure you haven't escaped from Beep Boop Maggot
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The nonsense outputted by the bots is funny sometime
@TuxCopter It's also entirely unwelcome in TNB. Don't copy them in here.
I don't copied a message here
21:27
I almost kicked you for that nonsensical reply, but decided to wait to see if it was an accident. Now that I see it wasn't, I'm considering kicking you now.
Oh I tought it was how it got 100 stars
Well I misread
Calm down, all he said was Internet. At least he didn't make lots of puns
Sorry
cough cough self-reference
So I'm guessing nobody does
21:29
It could be interpreted as more than just you.
@muddyfish It hit 100 stars the 1 Dec
@TuxCopter That's what I guessed initially, but your immediate justification of "the stupid stuff bots say is funny sometimes" made me think otherwise.
It was when I posted my meta question for the display bug
@PythonMaster It would be wise for you to not bring up your recent spree of noisy messages.

How the heck should this thing know about my battery?
@flawr Hah, I'm not that well-acquainted with the theoretical side of hyperbolic tilings...
@El'endiaStarman Then you should at least look at the pretty image in his previous question: math.stackexchange.com/questions/1469554/…
21:57
Wooooaaahhhh...
@flawr It's updating properly too. What site would ever have a use for that?
@flawr Not very accurate, is it? Apparently it'll take "Infinity" to charge my battery.
@mınxomaτ Why shouldn't that be accurat? I thought loading was an exponential process :)
When the battery is 100% it take Infinity to charge visibly
@El'endiaStarman You can see the vertices of a dodecahedron (or icosahedron) (under steregraphic projection)
22:00
@flawr loading? I sure hope my battery is 100% physically present.
@mınxomaτ I meant the loading rate of a battery is proportional to the voltage difference between the source, and the battery itself :)
With that model of the charging you'll never get to 100%:)
@muddyfish Online IDE or a fullscreen Unity-browser game? Anything fullscreen where you spend a lot of time.
If it's charged 100%, then surely it will take 0 time to charge fully?
Well, 100% will vary with the battery's age.
And the temperature usually.
Sure. But it will still be full.
22:05
Depends on the sensor circuit. Some crap ones use hardcoded voltages.
For some reason your username looks wrong to me, and I can't figure out why.
@Pavel Because of the dotless i and the greek tau?
Turkish "i" and a Tau to make it's height consistent. Yet, "minxo" etc. will still yield valid results in searches per username (cause it's an "i").
Anyone here play MP Factorio?
@El'endiaStarman Will fix that once I get to a computer.
22:09
Huh. Is it just me or does the second m look different from the first one?
@Doorknob Easterly said that Alex already approved his pull request to fix it.
*its. And obviously a lowercase tau.
@Pavel That's the same character. So yes, it's probably you.
Anyone want to review a challenge involving polynomials?

@quartata then how the fuck can anyone survive eating it

@NewSandboxedPosts @flawr ooooh fun
I'm still waiting for the day when @NewSandboxedPosts actually posts a challenge itself!

That's really not funny
@El'endiaStarman could you clear star spam please?
We could write a bot that sandboxes Markov chains of existing posts.
too many stars @Dennis nuke em or @El'endiaStarman

Is Dennis' profile pic from some cartoon? I'm trying to recall if I've seen it somewhere before.
dennis the menace

22:56
@DJMcMayhem what, you don't like rogue AI?
@quartata because someone in here thinks starring every single message is funny
that's a fast way to run out of stars
That reminds me that I was going to do a graph of the chat activity from the past 6 months of the most active chat users in 2015
you are like second in good questions and you made dennis numbers: the dennis menace

@DJMcMayhem not that bad
Protip: Don't trip and fall on a concrete staircase, it hurts
23:18
Ouch.
noted, thanks
@ZacharyT Yeah, mainly just bad scratching of my left knee, probably some future bruising elsewhere
It could be worse.
way worse
Luckily, I was going up at the time
Also, what's the difference between a staircase, a stairway, and a stairwell?
23:21
bad things
A stairwell is an area for stairs, AFAIK. You don't usually call the stairs themselves a stairwell.
Staircase/way seem interchangeable though.
That's what I was thinking
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ ._.
chuck norris kicked one of them iirc
it didn't end stairwell
baaah
23:22
jon skeet got the other
> it didnt end stairwell

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ according to this he's at 5.7k votes on cg challenges while I'm at 1.7k. He also has an obscene amount of 100+ challenges while I've never broken 70
well.. erm.. yours are good too lol

I'm very proud of my challenges, but I don't fool myself by comparing myself to helka lol

@LegionMammal978 A stairwell is a room containing stairs and exits to various floors. A staircase is the set of stairs, along with (usually) a handrail or two. I've never heard anyone use stairway, but it's the same as staircase.

I get pinning tabs, but what in the world is the use of previewing them?
