idea: spigot algorithm for the decimal digits of pi. As in, there are formulas that allow one to calculate any digit of pi, so long as it's hexadecimal. I feel like surely there must be some way to calculate a few subsequent hexadecimal digits and then use those to get the/a decimal digit.

12:13 AM
@MartinBüttner yes it was me

jeez that CnR was only in the sandbox for a day
@Eridan Next time please leave it longer in the sandbox. At minimum, a challenge should be in the sandbox for 3 days.

250 bytes for 2 CJam programs? Oh, forget it... :P
Considering just how much you can do with only twenty bytes in CJam...

@AlexA. This could be interpreted as "No, do the French golf/golf of French" or "No, do some French golf/golf of French" depending on whether you consider golf to be countable
I'm assuming you wanted "No, do the golf in French"
Oh half a moment.
I guess "faire du golf" is idiomatic for playing golf.

A: How does the Sandbox work? How do I use it?

Peter TaylorHow long should I leave a question in the sandbox? In general you should leave a question at least 72 hours to ensure that the people who check it fairly regularly will have a chance to see it and comment.

12:26 AM
okay seriously stop abusing socks

@Mego But there were spec issues

Anonymous
@quartata Then yeah I agree with you

He didn't even ban RNG ;_;

@Mego can I ask you some Seriously questions?

Anonymous
@TanMath You can ask, but I can't guarantee I'll answer right away

12:28 AM
I looked at the code you gave me for the gamma function, but there was some stuff I wasn't sure about
So as a reference, here is the code (thanks BTW for the code)
99u^W;;;ì1+,^@ì,*1+/-*(-

@Mego too bad Rotor doesn't have the sort builtin yet

so first, why is there a - before the *? what does it do?

Anonymous
I'm certain that's not the code I gave you

The answer to your thingy would be three bytes
<s]

@Mego yes it is... I copied and pasted from that.. I will get the chat transcript

12:29 AM
I need to get working on the interpreter again

Nov 18 at 23:36, by Mego
99u^W;;;ì1+,^@ì,*1+/-*(- should get you closer

Anonymous
If it is, then I have no idea what I was thinking

Anonymous
You should only ever be reading the input with , once, not twice per loop

@Mego well most of it is correct.. but what is hard to do is the v*= part of the C++
@Mego oh.. so it is messed up code?

Anonymous
Yeah

Anonymous
12:31 AM
It's not supposed to be functional, it was just supposed to get you closer

gosh... i understand, it must have been in the middle of the night for you...

Anonymous
If you wanna do something like v*=w, you have to do it in two steps

@Mego yes. I know.. but I just wanted to know whether those parts are correct...
@Mego how?

Every time I see an easy challenge I almost always realize Rotor doesn't have the one builtin that would let it win yet

Anonymous
Well, actually, all at once

Anonymous
12:32 AM
You start with v on top of the stack. You push w (by doing whatever calculations necessary), and then do *

@Mego ok... i will look into it...

Anonymous
Btw the Seriously solution to my newest challenge is 7 bytes if I'm doing it right

Also, @Mego another question is how do you do a reference for a string in Seriously.. like how do you do "blah %"%d in Seriously

@Mego If I finish my interpreter ever Rotor is 3
Actually wait a second
Hm
Might be 4

12:35 AM
@Mego you going to answer it? else I could try it...
by saying the sacred word.. "dibs!"

@TanMath It's my challenge, so I'm not gonna post any answers

@TanMath [9,8]"blah %d %d"% is equivalent to "blah %d"%(9,8) in Python

@Mego for your challenge, second test case, should it be "HELLO","world","!!!!!" -> "!Hw!Eo!Lr!Ll!dO"?

@Mego I can help with the transition to Python 3, perhaps?

Anonymous
@El'endiaStarman Sure, I'll need a flamethrower and about 3 gallons of propane

@TanMath No, capital letters are always lower ordinal than lowercase

@Mego oh.. thanks

How can I count the number of strings in the input?

This is gonna take a while...

here is my messed up version of the Seriously code:

Anonymous
@TanMath With the input format in the question, they'll be read in as a list. ;l will dupe the list and push the length of the list

It is a translation of the Pyth answer, except it doesn't work!

Anonymous
That's because Pyth can't simply be translated to Seriously

@Mego yes.. I bet the problem is the stack

@Mego ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY

12:51 AM
It's not letting me run the builtin scripts anyway. :(

@Mego: Regarding your string zip sort challenge, is it alright for me to take input like "abc""cba"?
It'll be a two-byte difference, so not a huge deal, but still...

Sadness is thinking you out-golfed Dennis but then realizing your code doesn't work :(

If it makes you feel any better, Minkolang is already losing and I've only just started. :P

@El'endiaStarman Sure

As long as you can manage any reasonable number of strings input, the format isn't that important

12:54 AM
alright, cool

Can't figure out how to do a gs2 answer for the zipping challenge since I can't think of any short way to split the string into an array

@AlexA. can you answer-ban Dennis, for like, a week or so?

2:12 AM
Unfortunately, mods can't do anything with question or answer bans. Those are entirely handled by the system.

@El'endiaStarman Hm.

So all you have to do is get into Dennis' account and "self"-delete them :P

@ChrisJester-Young Can you go into MySQL and answer-ban Dennis, for like, a week or so?
