4:39 PM
i wrote a program today
i was intending to do it well
like good practices and everything
i think this is less readable than some golfed code i've done
(as much as you can spoil #54, i guess. there's really no trick to it. there's nothing to figure out. it's just "write a program that follows these rules")

Ahaha Project Euler, I should look at the code from when I started programming
@undergroundmonorail Oh god.

Would questions like that from project Euler make good golf questions here?

There'd be a copyright issue, I think

Might need a spEuler alert

@Sp3000 ah right, yes
Although I'm guessing "write a poker hand decider" isn't copyrightable

4:55 PM
@undergroundmonorail I wonder if it's better to just assign each hand a two-tuple value, e.g. (1, 10) for a pair of 10s, (0, 13) for high card king, etc.
Then comparing
@githubphagocyte But it's been done
(also PE #54 is in the attributions)

@Sp3000 oh good :)

Now I feel like doing PE, it's been a while

I really like the Image almost-KoTH
it makes me wonder if it is better to simply run all of the KoTH as file-based challenges
simply pass back and forth a file. It'll take much longer, but be simpler to code

I pointed out how this answer did not use printable ASCII... so he makes up an ad hoc mapping of ASCII characters to some calculator buttons
Seems kind of unfair to use any character as long as you claim it's ASCII

@feersum yeah I found that weird, too
@NathanMerrill I think that depends on the challenge and the language. but I'd usually choose stdin or argv over files

@Sp3000 when you wake up, could you have a look at my posts in the weekly challenge chat? ;)
