@SantaClaus The first year, 3A. Got awesome seats, about one row back from the very best seats you can possibly get.

The next year, got up at 2ish. Got seats ~5 rows back. Still awesome.

I waited in line with a guy from the DoD both times, he was awesome and was going since like 2001. I might be able to hook you up if he won the lottery again this year.

@SantaClaus Luck. They split the line in a weird way and I didn't see it coming.

One line went up one escalator and the other went up a different one, and the few seconds was all it took :)

There's a bunch of employees telling you not to run. ProTip: It's not running if at least one of your feet is on the ground at all times.

@SantaClaus You're prolly going to be several sections back. It's not stadium seating.

But you could go get coffee, etc.

Then there's big screens a few sections back to watch. But at that point you might as well watch the livestream

@SantaClaus I personally wouldn't go past 3. But that's personal taste more than anything else, some folks don't want to make the sleep tradeoff.

And I don't blame them.

Last time my fingers got so cold I was able to occupy myself for like an hour trying to open some airline peanuts.

@SantaClaus We bought one there, got it from the store across the street.

Like $13. It wasn't the best, but it was cheap and it worked for a few hours

Also, don't leave your chair at the door. You will be sitting inside the building for a while, bring your chair.

There is food inside the building, get your spot in line first, then go get the food when everyone sits down. The food will not run out.

Don't bring your MacBook, no reason to.

Bring your iPad/iPhone or whatever you have, you'll have plenty of time to go get your machine from the hotel before the next session

Unless you've got one of those shiny new light ones, then it probably won't slow you down too much

Having one with a dedicated ethernet port is a very good thing at WWDC.

Also, pack every charging thing you could ever need. And make sure you can charge all your stuff with whatever you have.

I almost forgot my MacBook charger once. That would have been bad

They have them strapped to the back of literally every other chair in all the rooms except Presidio.

Oh, also, don't even think about using the WiFi or cell networks while you're waiting in line in the building. 5500 developers in one place crushes every network ever.

Although AT&T is getting better, IIRC

Outside of the line, the WiFi is awesome.

Some people get better results by turning of LTE and going back to 3G. It's painful.
