omg, the sister got carbon insoles for 800€
but I guess that’s less crazy than Ceramic Speed components
at least the insoles are custom made, so you can somewhat justify the price

IMO things intended to improve ergonomics/comfort are a better justification for spending money than marginal gains

@Erlkoenig I agree, clothes in general, especially when cycling in foul weather
I did 6h of cycling today and once again I’ve come to the conclusion that anything above 2h is just not fun :D
3450kcal according to the Garmin
1900m of descending, remind me to check brake pads
I hate descending -.- the deep rims haven’t made it better either. Would not get 53mm rims again.

@MaplePanda If you end up living in Germany for a while, and you intend to not only bike, but to also drive, keep in mind that Germany has mutual agreements with only ~five provinces (and ~25 states) to issue a driving license upon presentation of one from the other jurisdiction. Ontario is NOT such a province. But Manitoba (and Louisiana) are.
With an Ontario license you’d be asked to take the driving test, which in turn requires driving lessons.
@Sam7919 wtf? What’s wrong with Ontario’s driving requirements and their license?
It’s just a mutual agreement. They didn’t sign one. That’s all.
Someone with a German driving license would also be asked to take the test if they wanted a driving license in Ontario.
(Though that’s already considerably simpler because Ontario does not require proof of having taken lessons. It’s enough to know how to drive.)
why do you know all these things?

@sam7919 are you certain? My wife's Ontario license was accepted. I think we checked before she took driving lessons in Ontario.

@gschenk Then my information is outdated!
@gschenk 28 US States have "Full Driver’s License Reciprocity" and 11 have "Partial ...". Canadian provinces are ahead. They all signed mutual agreements. Ref: german-way.com/for-expats/living-in-germany/…

Driving tests in Ontario are very easy in comparison to Germany. That's why there hardly any lessons needed and it's dirt cheap. I think it still costs less that CAD 1000. In rural Canada it's even cheaper because relatives can give practical driving lessons.
I'm Munich it's 3k5€ on average.

Pro tip: Don't drive in Munich. Munich drivers are insane. But we have okay-ish transit.
