Q: Identification questions in general. What is allowed, and what is not?

JCPedrozaI don't have a strong opinion on this one. I just noticed that the status of these questions is very unclear and confusing, and it's time to take a specific direction. We are starting to get more visits and more questions. It's becoming clear that we'll get an important amount of id questions, s...

The standard basically is "sufficient detail". There's even a custom close reason. "Questions seeking to identify a song/sample/artist/ect need enough objective detail to be answerable. Please if possible add more detail."

@Donald.McLean Ahhhh.....you guys did took the wrong turn finally
@AnkitSharma It's an imperfect universe.
@Donald.McLean There is no redemption in this path :P
When the site first started there was a group of active people who were all vocally anti-ID questions. Then most of them left, became less active, etc. Then new people came along who felt differently and they voted to reverse the policy. It wasn't the mods choice, it was the community's choice.
@Donald.McLean Yeah i can understand. I was also member of that anti-id campaign but didn't left much time to continue fight
We did impose the "sufficient objective detail" standard though, so the kind of ID questions that really drive the ID haters crazy can get closed.

@Donald.McLean On movies.se ID count reached at high level and they turn gaga on weekends.
I hope we can turn it off someday
I actually have a bronze tag badge in on SFF. I don't mind ID questions, as long as the poster has put in the work to actually write a question that might be answerable.
@Donald.McLean but there count matters a lot
