You're making a common mistake among new programmers. Printing something to the screen and 'making a new string' are not the same thing. A string is a sequence of characters assigned to a variable. Text printed to the screen is no longer in your program, it's just text on the screen.
print()
takes a string and turns it into text on the screen, by default followed by a newline. If you tell it not to print a newline, it will just print the text and the next call to
print()
will continue where it ended, but it's still not creating a new string. —
