I still don't see why the linker can't just make a list of all exported symbols in all of the libraries passed to it on the command line and match them - without any need for an order to be specified.
that's fair i guess, but non-linear logic is subject to all kinds of heinous problems that break stuff.
if it weren't, opencl wouldn't need logic gates/barriers/synchronization. alternately, if you say if symbol not found recurse again. then if symbol not found check number of unresolved symbols, i guess that could work. it would slow down compilation and make programmers lazy though.
correction, you have to tag number of unresolved symbols first. then rerun. then check for match
@GeorgeEdison it would get bad because simple solutions like what i proposed could lead to MORE unresolved symbols when you start swapping things around. intelligent symbol solving would require an entirely new thing, like depsolving for libraries/symbols
Silence is the lack of audible sound or presence of sounds of very low intensity. By analogy, the word silence can also refer to any absence of communication, including in media other than speech. Silence is also used as total communication, in reference to non verbal communication and spiritual connection. Silence also refers to no sounds uttered by anybody in a room or area. Silence is an important factor in many cultural spectacles, as in rituals.
In discourse analysis, speakers use brief absences of speech to mark the boundaries of prosodic units. Silence in speech can be hesitation...
Can I ask questions about JoliOs here, I know in the FAQ they say I can't ask questions on Linux mint and the like but on their website (www.jolicloud.com) they say if I got any problem I should ask here.
This is a really great function written in jQuery to determine the value of a url field:
$.urlParam = function(name){
var results = new RegExp('[\\?&]' + name + '=([^&#]*)').exec(window.location.href);
return results[1] || 0;
}
// example.com?someparam=name&otherparam=8&...
I have tried to copy up a variety of images with transparancy in gif and png format. I have saved them in 32x32 size and larger, but everytime I upload them the transparency is black. I even copied an existing one that works from another user, removed his image, saved it and still no luck.

While I have a nautilus window open I can do Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new folder in the current directory. However there is no default keyboard shortcut for creating a new document. How would I create one?

I was reading [this](http://devo.ps/blog/2013/03/06/troubleshooting-5minutes-on-a-yet-unknown-box.html) and he has a command like this: `ls /etc/cron* + cat` What does the `+ cat` at the end of an ls do?
@MosheK + cat on the end of an ls command is interpreted as the user wanting to ls a file/dir called + and then one called cat. Nothing magical happens.
If you run that command, as it is, you get two errors about + and cat not existing.
@Achu apologies Achu, Apache really isn't my thing but it looks like you're trying to do an internal rewrite that shifts the user onto a different port.
You either need mod_proxy (to proxy the :7070 webserver) or you send the user an external redirect so their browser requests from the right server.
Say you get a badge that requires you to get 10 votes. You get the badge but then someone down votes you so you no longer have the 10 votes.
Does the badge get pulled?
Well, if the OP is merely using 12.10 would that suffice. Or should the issue be unique to 12.10? The other point is that other obvious improvements to the post are ignored.
I've googled quite a bit but nothing I've found works. I just want to display the Trash, Home folder, Computer etc icons on my Desktop in Ubuntu 12.10.
The closest I've come is installing dconf-tools, running it, going to org -> gnome -> desktop -> background and checking show-desktop-i...

I'm especially pissed off by the spin off projects that kinda expect Ubuntu to carry them and do all the heavy lifting for them. You don't like the way it's heading? GTFO ... simple as that.
I've got a very basic ListView... it works well enough for a simple list at this point.
I've really gotten into it though - the UI for the app is written in Java of course, but the heavy lifting is done by a library written in C. So I also had to learn how the JNI works.
No that is not possible via code. Android just implements the OnClickListener for you when you define the android:onClick="someMethod" attribute.
Those two code snippets are totally the same but just implemented in two different ways.
Code Implementation:
Button btn = (Button) findViewById(R.i...

I see that for the newest votes no reputation is assigned, if it wasn't an accept. What is the reason?
I wanted to install Windows alongside my Debian installation in order to play some games. In order to do that, I had to boot up a Ubuntu Live 12.1 DVD and use GParted (I was resizing my main partition which had everything).
The resizing finished successfully. I then tried to reboot into my Debia...
Planescape: Torment was awesome, for various reasons. One is definitely the team behind it.
And with both Fargo and Dengler throwing more money at it, this is exactly the team I want to produce games for the next years. Sooo ... the more they get, the better.
@GeorgeEdison on your getting it to work on IE comment over there --> Don't they have a webkit plug-in for IE yet? You know, runs a browser inside of an IE window...
Not to mention official endorsement from Avellone, cross-platform availability, and the nostalgia of Torment with a new setting. Awesomeness in a nutshell.
I don't know. They released an SDK that's free to use as long as you don't sell anything iirc. I can't argue with that. It would be more awesome if it were portable, but the "Here is an Elder Scrolls map loaded in our engine" demo was diabolical.
@FEichinger That's fair. They are making hard choices though. The new vehicle collision and deformation model they're working on. Other hidden awesomeness. Their methods are not without faults, but when you go to sleep at night, do you want your alarm clock to go off in the morning? That's right, it wasn't domestically manufactured and running open source firmware necessarily...but it NEEDS to wake you up.
