OK, thx

9:23 PM
and i don't have delete votes for the answer so redirection works

qbi
@AbrahamVanHelpsing done

jrg
@OctavianDamiean wiped, needed to get work-work done.
but yay, bugs.

@jrg - I broke out my ancient copy of MastersOfMagic. Thinking about piece-mealing it a little at a time as a django/html5-canvas-with-threejs-and-local-storage/javascript engine.
Step one, isometric tic tac toe for "turn logic and isometric view and loop testing"

jrg
no clue what that game is. :P
sorry, i'm sure i just showed my age.

it's like CIV meets DungeonsAndDragons

jrg
oh cool.

10:19 PM
Yeah. It had an interesting combat system too, instead of just "counting attack/defense points of units".

@Seth webgl qbert meets slinky gets a star

lol

but really, the funny thing is when useless links like that get starred.

10:23 PM
There's awesome in there. It's a webgl demo. I just made a what i find to be humorous slinky reference.

jrg
oh man, i <3 that ad.

"computer animated coffee" 0_O

jrg
hahah
not uber romantic.

noice. on both of those btw.

LOL

10:28 PM
my marriage proposal was a copy of the "joint budget" and an observation that we were living that way anyway with a ring and "we can do this". <-- I'm not kidding.

remember this one

jrg
thats good.

@mateo_salta that sir...is...epic.

jrg
@AbrahamVanHelpsing fell through? :(

it worked until the divorce.
since a divorce ipso facto subsumes the validity of a proposal
^^ it's okay to laugh at that

A: How should I properly set up my CCSM, Xorg.conf and nvidia-settings for fullscreen games?

NoobieThank you very much for your deleted answer. It was very useful the change of antialiasing and anisotropic features to "Override Application settings". This issue could be closed.

@Seth there's no deleted answer there

weird
Anyway, I'll BBL

kk. and i think it's a user raging about not getting an answer
or someone socking to try and rep-boost a couple of accounts
trivia for the day: what is the opposite of "escalator" since it seems that it should only apply to things that raise your elevation, what is the one in downward motion?

qbi
Sometimes it makes me sad that I write a long (and IMHO good) answer and the OP doesn't bother.

A: How to check command line requests routed thru Tor?

qbiUsually software which is called from your shell doesn't know about about Tor or any other proxy. So you have to tell it. The bad thing is that many software has specific ways to set a proxy up. Below you find some ways to get Tor working on commandline. I assume that you run a combination of Tor...

@qbi you gave a different type of answer than the OP was looking for. he wanted a tcpdump command on the host to verify that his guest commands were actually going over tor, udp packets and all (think grepping network traffic for non-first hop in tor chain traffic). paranoid people are paranoid and all that.
i use the universal he (all question posters are he's until proven otherwise much like all cars are she's unless proven otherwise)...anyway, you get the point

10:52 PM
@AbrahamVanHelpsing seems the word escalate came after the escalator according to wiki

I almost questioned the use of the file prontasaurus: askubuntu.com/questions/260439/…
@mateo_salta what? it's possible i guess but not probable

under the "Etymology" section, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escalator

Q: Recovering a locked iPod Touch

Jessica BoxerMy kid has an iPod touch that has locked from too many attempts to enter the passcode for 22 million seconds. He did this before and I connected to iTunes and it successfully unlocked it. However, I have subsequently upgraded the computer that iTunes was on, and, although the original hard disk i...

not the first time I've heard of this.

buy products that aren't black boxes you pay for but can't use the way you want... brilliant ui/product designers, but i like controlling my own hardware

That --^

jrg
10:59 PM
i'll buy my black boxes, ill just be aware of the limitations.

@jrg that's fair. i'm just saying i won't. i vote with my wallet every day, and if i buy a black box product, they just got some votes

Interesting @AbrahamVanHelpsing... votes.

jrg
@AbrahamVanHelpsing there is something to be said for that.
people value what works. for me, for a long time, i valued having a mobile smartphone-like device that wasn't tied to a dataplan.
now that there is a decent 7" android tablet, i probably won't get another iPod touch when this one kicks it in.

I'd just buy a Android off ebay for cheaper than a iPod touch... just sayin.

jrg
I also value my warranties.
apple replaced one for me, no questions asked.

11:02 PM
yerp. ultimatley i think the "rough equivalent exists" + the principle of the thing means i'll sort out getting a kindle app working on an ubuphone nexus 10 instead of getting an ipad

@jrg true enough.

jrg
if i'd tried that with asus, or anyone else, i'd probably have never seen the device again.

it already works on android. and it's an ESSENTIAL function for a tablet.

jrg
would have seen a large bill though. :P
@AbrahamVanHelpsing yeah, agreed.

I'd buy an Asus product. Just not an Acer one.

jrg
11:04 PM
i liked my asus eee pc. solid machine.
i'd still be using it today if i had gotten a SSD and another gig of ram for it.

asus and msi both make good stuff

jrg
who makes netbooks anymore?

Never tried MSI, but haven't heard anything good either...
@jrg It's called a slate.

jrg
:(

11:08 PM
@AbrahamVanHelpsing interesting.

it's old press, but it touched on a couple of their high points. point being, they make good stuff.

Q: Ubuntu 12.10, Why does it crash like every 4 hours?

Pouya AlaieI had the same problem with Ubuntu 12.04lts. After 4 hours, my computer just crashs, and I have to restart it, which is bad for my hardware :( I don't want to go back to windows, What's the problem? When it crash's ? Anytime, no matter if it's standby or I am using it.

It sounds like an incompatible with the hardware or a problem of the hardware or a bug in Ubuntu..

@Lucio short answer is it doesn't it's a hardware or user problem

Hello - I am running Ubuntu and have installed Apache and php. Still my server is not able to render php files. If I try to access a php file from a browser, it is downloaded as a file rather then opening it up. Please help.

@AbrahamVanHelpsing Do you think?
why?

i don't know why my laptop overheats when i place it under a thousand blankets with sleep disabled and the lid closed type of thing

@Prasad Have you added the .php extension to the file? It happened to me :)

11:51 PM
@Prasad file associations bro, it's already answered on site. check for gedit to sublime

@Lucio, I have a test file called test.php and I try to access it from the browser , it is downloaded. I have been chasing this issue for a long time..
@AbrahamVan - can you give me a link where I can find the solution. The solution that I was recommended is to reinstall LAMP

don't access with a browser. access it directly. file associations and browser associations are not linked, although maybe they should be
askubuntu.com/questions/115113/… if you open it directly

@Prasad Have you restarted Apache?

@Lucio - Yes and I have made sure php is running

@Prasad Also, how did you installed apache and php? This guide of Ubuntu community is very detailed.

11:55 PM
the problem is that he's using a browser probably. what? you're trying to run it in your own server and getting a problem? i thought you mean you were trying to download a php script from some third party website
php is evil anyway. use some ruby or python framework

I have rented a virtual private server and installed Ubuntu. It has Apache and PHP and I have a test.php file in /var/www/. If I try to open it from a browser from my pc to that server , it downloads instead of opening it
AbrahamVan - :(

@Prasad Review (if you didn't it before) this section. Checking the PHP installation and Troubleshooting it

Thanks Lucio and AbrahamVan - I am going to uninstall LAMP and reinstall it again.
is there a simple command in ubuntu to uninstall LAMP - Please help.

@Prasad We are not in Windows world. I not recommend you that, at least as first option :)

11:58 PM
now i remember why i ignored you in the first place @Prasad
ignore re-instated
