What is the name of the disk partitioner used during installation?
I want to use the same one to partition disks, etc. I saw a demonstration where someone was using it to partition additional drives, LV's, etc. They were running it from the command line. I would like to use it instead of fdisk.

@smartboyhw Do you mind if I add edit that answer to add the text "That's the backend used by Ubiquity (the graphical installer) to partition disks during installation." ? I think some people, coming to look that the question later, might be confused about how it could be parted since it's Ubiquity. (That's unlikely to result in downvotes or anything, I'm just thinking it might make the answer more complete.)

@jokerdino I agree...but you can turn an uncertain answer into a correct one by explaining in it how it might be wrong. If the answer might not be right (due to unknown variables), you can usually say "This may be due to..." or "This is usually caused by..." If the uncertainty is in the mind of the author, you can say, "I think ... though I am not entirely sure because ..."

It seems to me that we should close this crash bug question as off-topic (since, like most bugs, the best thing to do is report it and see what input people can provide in the bug report):
Some time after a recent upgrade skype has stopped working. If I try to launch it from a terminal, it outputs the following error:

I've been using Linux since Slackware 3.6 came out and as my main (and only) OS since 2004.
I was using Debian for a long time, but some friends told me that Ubuntu was really matured and convinced me to change.
My main reason to install Ubuntu was that I wanted something that "just works", so I ...
Can anyone confirm that this advice is correct? (I'm not a KDE user.) If it is, then this can probably be added as a bullet point to the other answer to which it refers.
@jokerdino If KDE in Ubuntu currently has those icons and GNOME in Ubuntu currently doesn't, that would make me think the advice should be considered correct (provided that the instructions for disabling them are actually correct, which I am not 100% sure about since I don't use KDE). But rather than adding it to the other answer, I've reworded to clarify (and to make it less controversially a separate answer).
I've installed Ubuntu 12.04.1 in a new server and set up the 4 hard drives with 3 RAID 1 devices, the configuration is such that the first two drives have md0 (swap space) and md1 (/) with the third and fourth drives having md2 (/var).
I've been testing the operation under a drive failure and fo...
I know that Ubuntu +1 questions are frowned upon, but this I believe is a fair exception. Currently I have 2 systems running Ubuntu 12.10, and one of them has a Pentium M that doesn't support PAE (strange I know, but true).
This has meant in the past that I had to rely on a custom iso to install...
What could be the best way other than edit all grub files in order to password protect all grub menu entries except current running kernel?
Bonus: suffice upgrades.
@SirCharlo I don't understand you, I just want to password protect all grub menu entries. If you think that my question is so awkward please provide an edit.
@fossfreedom not really, I was trying to avoid manual work at minimum, and there is no mentions for the newest kernel so I need to reedit all the grub files every once in a while
