There's something called the rep cap - basically means that you can only earn 200 reputation in a day, excluding bounties and accepted answers.

One piece of advice. Add an answer only when you are absolutely sure. If you are not sure, keeping quiet is better than adding a wrong answer / incorrect answer. It severely undermines your credibility.
