sorry...i'm gonna install Kernel 3.0.1 on ubuntu 10.10 ..it's not my computer and the user don't like new versions and says 10.10 is fast enough for him....he is requesting this because ubuntu 10.10 hasn't recognize his sound card very well...he needs to use 5.1 sound and there isn't any option to turn it on...will updating the kernel fix that? or should I use a newer Pulse audio version on this?

I have a Broadcom BCM5906M, it is using tg3 driver and I saw it is provided by linux-image-extra-version-number from the command dpkg -S tg3. You should use the actual package name with correct version number. for me, it would be linux-image-extra-3.5.0-2-generic

Q: Wireless doesn't work on a Broadcom BCM4312

As stated, I've just upgraded to 12.04 and my Dell Inspiron 1545 isn't recognising its wireless card and I was wondering if anybody could help? Edit: Okay, so I found the wireless card by using lspci -vvv and it returned this: 0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b...
