Q: Swapping a mounted drive between machines - is it possible?

user316203Let's say I have a storage device called A. I install A into my machine M1 (which contains a drive called B which is a unix boot drive containing the operating system). I then boot up M1 and mount the drive into some directory. I read / write to A in M1 for some time. I then decide that I ...

Q: Why does ZFS on Linux not read from the cache?

sneakI have a test zpool set up with a single, USB-attached 4TB spinning disk which reads at about 40MB/sec. I have four ~300GB fast SATA2 internal SSDs set up as cache for this disk. I can read about 900MB/sec from this L2ARC. I am reading a mostly static 400GB dataset from this pool. The system ...

I need one more reopen vote from a reviewer to reopen this question: How to boot from USB when USB stick is plugged in and otherwise Windows from HD? The proposed duplicate describes a totally different scenario. The answers there might provide the needed method with sufficient adapting and imagination, but that doesn't make the question a duplicate.

Q: Open file in gedit by using full path

futureishereIn the previous versions of gedit, I was able to open the file directly by entering the full path of file in open window dialog box. But now, I have to browse to the folder manually before I can open the file. Is there a way to enable the full path functionality?

Q: Does the [remote-login] wiki need an update?

ZannaI just reviewed this helpful edit suggestion and realised that Ubuntu 14.04 is the only currently supported Ubuntu the advice in the wiki is relevant to. What happened to remote-login-service, I wondered. I imagine systemd has eaten it. Can anyone update the remote-login wiki to make it clearer ...

Q: How may I have Ubuntu read an ASCII file out load to me?

Gary KlineIs there an easy way to have Ubuntu Linux to read a text file to me? For example, let's say I have a file, /tmp/test_type; and in that file I have, Hello, world. What is the easiest way to have Ubuntu read that file -- or any file to me -- when my sight is failing?

Just so you're aware, it also has other connotations, and they're not positive.
When I see "kek" I immediately think "alt-right". Obviously, that's not fitting the theme of this room, but I just thought you should be aware, for future reference.

interesting, I think “cookie” because the German word for that looks similar: “Keks”
