Q: Feature request: retracting delete vote on answers

Sergiy KolodyazhnyyWhen I vote to close a question it's possible to retract close vote. When I press delete(1) to remove my vote on an answer, it only asks for confirmation if I want to vote to delete, not retract. Can we please have that as an option?

Q: Did my answer get down-voted for being too flashy?

WinEunuuchs2UnixI just posted an answer which got down-voted and I'm wondering if the graphics upset the down-voter who as usual didn't leave a comment as to reason: Set CPU governor to performance in 18.04 Not wanting to upset anyone with my answers I'd really like to know what brought on the negative reaction?

> "SSLProtocol All -SSLv2 -SSLv3 -TLSv1"
Can someon explain that to me^XD

@blade19899 explain what? You need to pick one of the options :)
Oh and that line will ONLY activate "all" The other options are silently ignored

2:09 PM
@Rinzwind That's in a life conf
After my switch to nginx I'm no longer fluent in Apache
These are blocked "-SSLv2 -SSLv3 -TLSv1" because of the "-" ?
> "`all
This is a shortcut for ``+SSLv3 +TLSv1'' or - when using OpenSSL 1.0.1 and later - ``+SSLv3 +TLSv1 +TLSv1.1 +TLSv1.2'', respectively (except for OpenSSL versions compiled with the ``no-ssl3'' configuration option, where all does not include +SSLv3).`"

3:04 PM
@blade19899 live :P
oh the last sentence should read: from the FIRST virtual host. All others are ignored
@blade19899 yes,

3:51 PM
Hey, does anyone use fonts-awesome?

4:41 PM
@ThomasWard - Hey, bugging you here as requested! We talked about pip3 a while ago but I can't remember which way you said the best way to install it was.

to install pip3?

Yep\

@Henders sudo apt-get install python3-pip

Hmm, maybe I'm mis-remembering then :P

@Henders heh. we had a discussion about a lot of other PIP stuff :P

5:01 PM
@blade19899 also, if you're setting SSL, mozilla has a really nice config file generator

@blade19899 All -SSLv2 -SSLv3 -TLSv1 disables the items marked with -
however, SSLv2 and SSLv3 are no longer included in OpenSSL versions in Ubuntu nowadays so
it'd just disable TLSv1 (because the other two are no longer supported)

@TheWanderer You know, the tape holding the box closed. Doesn't 100% mean it's new, but it wasn't like.. obviously opened either.
either way, it's new enough for me :D

it's pretty easy to remove tape and stickers from a glossy box

7:46 PM
for instance I'm pretty sure my Note 9 was used for review farming or something similar
the OEM Unlock switch was instantly available
usually takes 7 days
the plastic wrap was still on the phone and the sticker on the box was unbroken
although apparently you can bypass the timeout by just setting your date to the next week
you know, like a 2010 iOS game

8:03 PM
@TheWanderer bans you from reviewing for six weeks

does it bother anyone else when a person completely ignores coding standards and/or just doesn't bother with proper spacing or indentation?

very much

I don't understand how people are able to code like that
although, to be fair, it's usually the askers with the stupid simple issues

depends, if it’s code intended just for themselves I find it acceptable, though I personally don’t do it even then
oh, in a question it’s unprofessional at least

Anyone here know postfix well?

I want to start a script on startup and restart it if it dies unexpectedly. The script periodically fetches and merges from a repo to update the content of a very simple website. What program would be suited to do that?

@FelixCrazzolara Sounds like this script is just a while true loop running in the background? Maybe on a timer?

yes exactly

If that's the case it might be more effective and easier to run it periodically with cron than have to worry about a constantly running process in the background.
If the job fails you can set cron up to auto-notify you too.
(obviously you'll have to remove the loop/timer, since that's what cron does)

@FelixCrazzolara systemd service.

Ooh that's a good idea too ^
idk how much work it is though.

10:35 PM
has an auto-restart feature :-)

but then you have a constantly running process – it really depends on your situation what’s best

11:18 PM
@dessert He already has a constantly running process (see above).
