So I just open my laptop and this message prompt out. My Ubuntu version is 18.04. It worked fine yesterday. Then I use a live USB to boot and install Boot Repair. But when I click on Recommended repair option in the Boot Repair, below error appear

I have one question to the group ,I am going to install ubuntu 18.0 ,thinking to put 2 partitions of 200 Gb for / and 200 for home and 12.50 Gb for swap (I have 4 Gb RAM) so is it good to set considering my development needs or I need to put other way ,kindly suggest apt space choices ,thank you!

@karel I'm sorry ,I couldn't tell ,its a dual boot and I am going for custom install where we need to allocate space as par our need ,that'y why asked !

If you have a home partition and VMs and you locate the guest OSs in the home partition then you don't need to allocate more than 100GB for the / partition.

@karel thank you ,but I'm not using VM , rather I'm using two os in parallel and prefer my development work in linux as it seems more light over system (found significant smoothness in running Android studio in Ubuntu than windows ) ,in such scenario will 100 gb be sufficient ?? if that so then I will go with your suggestion ,thank you !

And also if I put 200gb for home and 100 gb for / partition then will it be sufficient ? one more thing suppose I want one more partition to put large files there so what will you suggest ,should i put them in home or in other partition ? and i need other partition then what starting point i should choose ,thank you !

You don't need to make a swap partition in a new Ubuntu 18.04 installation. You also don't need a separate partition for large files and it's a waste of disk space to make this additional partition. Instead either put the large files in the home partition or simply create one large partition and put them in the home directory.

However if your computer has both an SSD + HDD it saves valuable space on the SSD to create an additional partition for file storage on the HDD.

Q: Possible bug: body area turns blank when editing question

When trying to edit a question, I noticed that I have to edit the body area firstly, and only secondly the title area. If I try to do otherwise, the body area turns blank and I can't see the words or edit anything.

Q: Ubuntu gets stuck in a login loop

My Ubuntu is stuck in a login loop when trying to enter my desktop. When I login, the screen gets black and soon after that the login screen comes back. I've read that the problem might be caused by an error depending on the graphics, here's my graphics card: ATI Radeon 7670M

I did it once by typing rm -rf /*;bak

basically, ramdisk with important things/libs, and then delete my luks keys from there and start a wipe

for the first 3 seconds I was staring at:

  No command 'bak' found.

after that, my spine cooled till 0°K

(This was back when I was the SysAdmin (= Backup Admin) for a small software company. )
