Q: Why do Ubuntu and Debian still only ship usbutils 007 while it's 5 years old and new versions are available?

RuslanAs I understand, usbutils 008 was released 4 years ago, and current version is 010. The latest version is being installed in BLFS, but in Ubuntu it's still 007 in latest development release (Cosmic), same in Debian Sid*. I do realize that, as noted in LWN article, usbutils 008 changes the way it...

To be honest, whenever I see that REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED message I simply do a ssh-keygen -R hostname. But I don't recommend that.

@PerlDuck You're the admin of the server?

@Fabby No. But at work we have plenty (and I really mean plenty) hosts and sometimes they get reinstalled or whatever. So that message is quite common at my place.

@Rinzwind hahaha :D :D :D
Okay, gotta go ... see you next time around :)

I know it's not nice and in particular politically totally incorrect, but how comes most of these questions come from India?

@PerlDuck easy answer ... which country has one of the highest populations ? :D

5:44 PM
@cl-netbox Yes, I think that is the reason.

@PerlDuck 2 reasons: lots of people there and it is the time of day for them to be here.

Goodbye everybody :)

Bye :)

Q: dd, device clone to smaller drive, no space left on device

jgrump2012I've seen numerous questions, answers, and guides relating to use of dd, cat, and clonezilla to facilitate partition and device cloning. Rather than continue those discussions I'm hoping to give very targeted questions to dd behavior within this post. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS live, booted fro...

Q: Ten tips to handle your question in the worst possible way

Jacob VlijmRead the post below with a wink. It is not meant as a bitter numeration, just a parody on what we all run into every now and then. Look at it as an Ask Ubuntu conversion of "How to irritate people" NEVER give all relevant information at once. Especially don't mention if your issue seems to be r...

Q: IP Logging with Ubuntu Server

DahereI use Ubuntu to host my web sites. I would like to generate a log of every IP address that "touches" my Ubuntu installation - including ping, port scans, etc, not just http requests. What would be an efficient way to accomplish this task ?
