If you Install Firefox 4, rather than upgrading to it, it's completely safe to try out.
You can just download their Linux binary package, extract it and run Firefox from there*. With absolutely no risk to your existing Firefox installation.

FF4 lags for me. Huge CPU spikes occasionally... And even without spikes, it can be really slow to change/close tabs Probably extension-caused because it was pretty nippy before I reinstalled them but I don't have that many extensions to be fair (firebug+webdeveloper+adblock)
@Oli maybe somebody misunderstood me, though I was saying that firefox 4 will run perfectly, when I was just saying that it won't be dangerous in any way. In any case, I'll clarify it

.Net is kindly changing the element ids on my pages by appending a ct100_ to them. As much as I appreciate microsoft trying to help me keep from duplicating ids on my site, I think I can manage it on my own. Can anyone tell me how to prevent this?

The solution is to approach the problem from the other direction: to satisfy the start criteria for Centrify, it is not necessary to make existing services
depend on the new Centrify service, rather make the new Centrify service
depend on existing services.
