If I can use those things for something useful then it may be worth investing into them
Like an ARP firewall/security device
or a proof of concept malicious MITM device to finally pop open the fact that this device is a really bad idea
imagine an exploit that can be pushed to these Circles that intercepts all traffic and redirects it. A one-stop shop for credit card and password theft.
That is, if such a thing already doesn't exist in the Circle code.
That's why I hate it, @Seth. I can't be sure that it's valid. Because, well, Disney isn't exactly known for being nice.
I'm running a Ubuntu server in VMWare. And I would like to forward the X11 from the Ubuntu guest to the Mac host.
I've installed XQuartz 2.7.9 (xorg-server 1.17.4) on the Mac host.
Then I tried the following in iTerm:
%> echo $DISPLAY

I've learned that it's possible to create inhibitors for a GUI session via dbus. However , when I do try to add an inhibitor , it is immediately removed. Here's an example.
I call to add inhibitor via this command (which is supposed to prevent logout from happening):
qdbus org.gnome.SessionMana...
I have built a vpn over ubuntu using libnet filter in conjunction with iptables rules in order to alter packets in the queue over eth0 (to the out world) and eth1 (to the inner lan). I had to use MASQURADE for source nating and mangle for packet alteration. Now i have noticed that the side which ...
@Zanna unix.stackexchange.com/q/311779/85039 Long story short, everything in bash script is a separate command apparently, while python is one single process
I basically need that information for another question on AU, it's sort of part of the research, but it will be quite useful for other things as well
In python it doesn't, which is what i really want - I want inhibitor to stay there. Which suggests to me that python script that i wrote is treated as one process
@Serg Oh, then of course it works. It's not because "everything in bash script is a separate command", it's because you're not running the simple shell command, but using the right tool for the job.
Apparently they are. As you've shown, when you run the command the inhibitor is only there as long as the command is running. This isn't shell-dependent, it seems to be how the command itself works.
I have multiple linuxes on my machine. Using grub-configure I want to generate a timeless boot config in grub2, always picking the latest kernel (a secondary linux on the same machine).
Its /boot resides on /dev/sda1 and it's root / resides on sda2. I thought, I could make use of those symbolic ...

[PSA] Please don't ask questions in Chat, unless they're really fast (or really complex and have a parent question already). It's better to post them on the main site, because then more people see it, and others have easier access to any answers posted!
We have disabled all forms of community wiki automatic conversions, not just for answers but for questions as well. The feature was never really about encouraging substantive edits as much as it was about prevent abuse. And in fact it punished people who made not just substantive edits, but lots ...

Let's said that I have installed PHP 5.5.x in Ubuntu and it comes with a default configuration. I would like to overwrite a few configurations but I do not want to (this is how I know it's possible):
edit the default php.ini file
use a PHP block in each .php file to overwrite them

I was considering moving to Trisquel (although, to be clear, I never downloaded anything related to it), so I'm not necessarily heartbroken, but I'm very unsure of what happened with this.
I used Ubuntu 14.04LTS for my work computer, and I decided to run an upgrade. When the upgrade was finishe...

Yes! telling people not to use Ubuntu can be a sane answer. New HW is not for Ubunut Linux, even MS is trying to solve this by working on adapting Ubuntu to it's Kenel as I've read, I don't believe it yet as talk is cheap.
For me to make this mistake took a lot of situations messing with my head...
Is it possible to have single click on the dock icons activate expose by default?
If you have a single window open in ubuntu it doesn't activate expose but if you have multiple windows open it does. This cause issues when I tried to use expose on several different windows in ubuntu.
