@Zacharee1 you can't upload svg to imgur :p

@kos yay, I didn't have to say anything :D

user139252
I made it as a vector, exported to png

I read that as "it as a vector, exported to bing"

my housewarming apartment-warming gift to myself came in!

@Seth -.-. They put a "Usually boots for me." in the middle of a pattern of statements which yelled "Hey, I'm not an answer". My bad.

@kos hehe, been there myself.

kos
1:49 AM
Well, here's another one: askubuntu.com/questions/677419/…

@TheBrownOne You have a website :P

there it is, took awhile...

@kos Do you have a script to find these or do you really like the review queue? :p

kos
@Mateo Margarita?

1:51 AM
nope
something a lot stronger

kos
@Zacharee1 Trade secrets. :P

sigh

kos
@Mateo Like?

Absinthe (/ˈæbsɪnθ/ or /ˈæbsænθ/; French: [apsɛ̃t]) is historically described as a distilled, highly alcoholic (45–74% ABV / 90–148 U.S. proof) beverage. It is an anise-flavoured spirit derived from botanicals, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium ("grand wormwood"), together with green anise, sweet fennel, and other medicinal and culinary herbs. Absinthe traditionally has a natural green colour but may also be colourless. It is commonly referred to in historical literature as "la fée verte" (the green fairy). Although it is sometimes mistakenly referred to as a liqueur, absinthe...

Woohoo

kos
1:53 AM
@Zacharee1 Those I cathed by coincidence, but checking this page you usually find a ton: askubuntu.com/tools/new-answers-old-questions. But you need at least 10K to see it.

a whopping transfer speed of 2KB/s
@kos isn't that just like the Late Answers queue?

kos
@Mateo Oh, you brewed it?

ordered

@Mateo what country are you in?

kos
^^, I think the 70% variant is illegal here.
Don't remember.

1:55 AM
> In 2007, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) effectively lifted the long-standing absinthe ban, and it has since approved many brands for sale in the US market.

oh

kos
@Zacharee1 No it's just a page that shows all the answers to questions older than 30 days... So it's easy to find new users posting "I have this too" answers to old questions.

and depending on state, you can get the 80% one

@kos ah

kos
What did I just say? It's legal here, or more than one centerbe would be illegal, which are not.

2:01 AM
...---...

377 first posts?
Someone hasn't been reviewing who usually does

@Mateo In the US, all absinthe that doesn't actually contain thujone has been legal for quite some time.

well, the stuff that does is now too

that's sort of neat

kos
2:15 AM
@Zacharee1 That's probably a big part of the reason why the queue is now at ~1000/1100. Probably quite a bit of new users.

they just have a limit on the amount

Many UK vendors were selling absinthe sans thujone and a separate bottle with the wormwood extract with thujone as a pair. So, fighting semantics was sort of hilarious.

funny

I wouldn't know anything about that though. I just read a lot.

kos

2:18 AM
oh, speaking of alcohol, I'm doing a new scope

i.don't.even. what's the scope.

wine/sprit search ;)

kos
@Mateo Cool!

the api even has accounts and favorites, should be awesome

hopefully it supports scotch and vodka as well as absinthe... and it's not just an absinthe vendor search api

2:22 AM
i just typed absinthe to segue the conversation :)

always wanted to try japanese whiskey, but not THAT bad:

the 3rd one is a little bit closer than the others...

I could swing the third one as a "group social event" thing. The first one just made me poop a little.
By that, I mean - the structure I live in cost me a third of that...

I think it was more than my car
more than college
or at least close to that

2:30 AM
yeah. more than college. i was flat rate 3k/semester 3 semesters. So, approx 9k

so a lot of features in this one, hard to pick a place to start
but at least I have the basic search down

what does your user see first? when i get stuck choosing a feature, that's how i choose.

I'm thinking of "top" and also showing their own favorite list
so probally work out the top/new catagories
then work on the different types/colors
for deapartments

So I'm taking this course in UWP dev and the instructor is Hungarian. He talks with a thick Hungarian accent, but his English is very good. He keeps cracking jokes!

@Mateo fwiw, i'm still on fisticuffs. trudging along using a stacked widget and doing a screen or so per week. still trying to make myself use signals and slots like i'm supposed to instead of running through connecting things gtk style.

2:34 AM
old habits die hard

yeah. the one i finished does it gtk style. didn't realize it until i read it later.

so, no contest or anything, so i'm taking it slow - doing it as a learning project
wonder when the scope showdown results will be in

user139252
@Zacharee1 Can't upload SVG to OpenCart :P

@Brown - nice one on the diamond fingertips thing.

@Mateo did you submit this time around?

user139252
@hbdgaf Thank you :P

yep, it is in the contest
should be interesting, it made it to top scopes and is now over 600 users :)

I don't see it losing unless they give it away b/c you already have some level of notoriety... but in a good way.

well, there was the scope that had on-line learning courses, it looked really nice - should be a really good contest

I wonder what the learning scope is using as a source for courses though. I'm starting to feel much disappoint about udemy. The idea was sound, but they're pimping get rich quick stuff on FB as ads now.

2:42 AM
@Mateo cool!
@hbdgaf yeah, udemy disappointed me too. A lot of their courses are the "get rich fast" kind too. Terrible audio, not well planned.. :/

@Seth it doesn't bother me that they host it. it bothers me that it is what is in their ads. i'ld respect it more if some of the more respectable courses were in the ads, but they humored the grq folks with hosting.

The best courses I've found so far are from Pluralsight, but it's expensive.

I think I found a few decent ones on R and pandas that were mirrored on github.
Everything I've seen in an ad is deplorable though. Just bad.

user139252
It had a chicken head with duck feet, and a woman's face, too....

2:49 AM
so, he put multiple sources in

@TheBrownOne just put the file somewhere in your site folder

@Mateo coursera and edx should help it along.

@Mateo oh neat!
I'll definitely want to get that when it comes out.

he had a really nice logo going too

@TheBrownOne We all have a chicken duck women thing waiting for us!
now that song is stuck in my head :P

2:52 AM
That brings up an interesting thought. With the zeitgeist db, scopes might eventually be able to say "You know, you've been looking about this a lot. Here's something related". Like a user context scope prompt.

wonder what the ubuntu app store's algorithm for top is, sine he had a more popular for the month back in feb

you probably had more views, but less unique views. just my guess.

ah, add in the downloads for each version
I had them spaced out nice, and added a lot each time

could be. i wouldn't fault them for making a less popular thing more popular though, to say "try it" and pull that out of the metric later.

it does say something, that people are updating it, instead of trying and uninstalling

2:56 AM
i suppose that's fair. one line bumps could game that system though.
anyone seen Chuck/LP? haven't seen him around in forever.

hm, I follow his twitter, haven't see much

when i ping him on g+, he answers. i think he's just busy.

also if you like random move and art stuff follow guillermo del toro
he tweets constantly

@hbdgaf well he's got 5k karma on LP so he must be active..

does twitter even show everything people retweet anymore?

3:03 AM
@Seth karma on lp is game-able. if you source pull and autobuild on a github landing spot for a really active project, it's free karma. that's not what he's doing, but it's not a=b.

I feel I'm missing stuff...

@hbdgaf sure
@Mateo I'm not sure..
I get that feeling too though, that I'm missing stuff.

maybe i'm just busy too ;P

@hbdgaf this is more accurate though: launchpad.net/~zulcss/+karma

@Seth true. are we talking about the same chuck?

lol, I like his name changes :)

@hbdgaf maybe not?

ohhhh. That Chuck.
He's alive, working for Canonical, doing juju stuff.
Works with Jorge and Marco.

@TheBrownOne Lol

And about as active as both of them when it comes to here :P
@Zacharee1 hhahahahaa

"automated precision farming" o_0

@Mateo Why only 3.6 stars? :p

someone used the dev version on the nexus 5...
it didn't work, as does a lot of things on dev...
and someone liked the web app better, mistook it for a "real" app, and said "use the real thing"

3:11 AM
I knew about the first one, but the second one: CFH

I put the web app up with it accepting it's own domain so when you hit open it opens the website in the web app
if you want, it's a nice combo webapp + scope

plus there is a bug that dosn't let you rate things in the store...

I still wish I had UT so I could try it out :/

have to reinstall to rate, really strange...

3:14 AM
Weird

keep saving :) and also the nexus 4's aren't going for too much on e-bay :)

@Mateo - thanks for the swappa heads up btw. Thinking about a Nexus5 from there now.

nexus 5 is nice too, multi-boot and all

Screen broke on my Nexus7 and it's cheaper to buy a new phone - which I need - than it is to buy another screen.

the mic went out on mine though...

user139252
3:15 AM
Swappa is better :p

user139252
@hbdgaf I'm at the same place with my 6P

so I'm using the mx4 ubuntu edition as a daily :)
well, i'm out. later

later on

user139252
I broke my 6P screen (for the second time), and can't afford the repair, so I bought a $40 phone from T-Mobile.

user139252
It works for now, but I'm starting to really hate it.

3:19 AM
you could have gotten an N4 for $60.

@TheBrownOne twice?

user139252
...yeah :(

And how
What about insurance?

someone has rage control issues...

wow :(

user139252
That song by Cake is pretty good, too.

@TheBrownOne Why do you call yourself the brown one?

3:26 AM
@HenryWHHack Her last name is Brown
Or at least we think it is :p

user139252
@HenryWHHack Because @JacobVlijm was the orange guy

howdy

@Zacharee1 Wait his last name is brown wow is he Chris Brown pretending to be a normal guy in this chatroom?

user139252
@HenryWHHack Wrong pronoun. My name is Heather Brown :P

So you name is brown wow!

Anyone know a guy by the name of Mark Kirby?

@Serg: some feed-back on your script:
originally I used /usr/local/bin instead of /opt/ to store it and it worked.
yesterday I copy-pasted the new version and shut down.
this morning my machine refused to boot into graphics mode as I don't have a /opt (which is optional)
Luckily I remembered to deactivate the script and then the system booted again.
Time for Version 1.2? (using /usr/local/bin)

7:51 AM
testing again...

Whoa! There was another huge spam wave again, even before work starts...

@ByteCommander Do you remember that html and css code I showed you?

The green font on red background that burned in my eyes?

@Serg forget what I said!
I forgot to copy-paste the last line in your script:
main "$@"
:D :D :D

8:18 AM
also added a chmod +x to the instructions.
Works like a charm now!

Just in case anyone is curious on how long it takes to has there entire root / dir

Does this make sense? askubuntu.com/a/743718/380067

@Rinzwind "In Time" was the movie where they have digital clocks in their arms that show their remaining life time and where time is money? I've seen that some year(s) ago already. Nice one indeed.

@ByteCommander yes that's the one.

@kos By "black and white cable", does he mean the antenna cables with those connectors with weird names? I think it was "pigtail" or something like that...

kos
@ByteCommander I'm not sure... WLAN card that I have seen just plugged into the PCI-E slot.
No cables or other stuff.

@blade19899 fast... what's the output of f --human?

9:04 AM
@Fabby human? none of the sha*/md5/ssdeep has a --human option I think?
It doesn't calculate file sizes!
Yep, none of the tools has "human" in their man pages.
I just scanned my entire root dir /

@blade19899 sorry: character missing df --human

9:08 AM
@Fabby I figured that out a second earlier

@blade19899 :D

Its a virtualbox machine

that is going to take a little longer here:
`df --human-readable

With some random files
@Fabby fixed font

@blade19899 how do I do that if backticks don't work?

9:10 AM
@Fabby For a multi line text, there will be a new button next to the upload... button. Presss that

Have you guys seen the new Google's Doodle?
It's kinda cool.

9:43 AM
@kos No new Google Doodle in the Netherlands, as of today

kos
@blade19899 No?

Lol, my connection to my laptop crashed, when started the hash scan xD

kos

@kos Nope
@kos Where are you from

kos
@blade19899 Italy... So it's only for Italy?

9:51 AM
@kos yeah, Google does that sometimes. When someone is only famous in county X, then only country X will see that Doodle.
Whats the famous persons name?

kos
Well it's not a person, it's about the theremin. You can play it within the Doodle
