There is a missing DLL d3d10_1.dll. You can see the error message if you start wine via terminal:
err:module:import_dll Library d3d10_1.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\users\\aboettger\\Temp\\_isf61a.tmp") not found
Therefore download the DLL e.g. here, place the file in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/...
For some or other reason, typing @ᔕᖺᘎᕊ in a chat room pings everyone who's been in that chat room for the last 7 days...
Seems to work in all chat rooms (I only tested 2 as I don't want to be a jerk)
How should we proceed?
Linux newbie and as yet still unproductive dunce. I ran the terminal commands here and now have these broken dependencies: console-setup-linux and initramfs-tools. Those commands must have been obsolete because it also reformatted my menu system as if I now have some other, probably earlier, vers...
If that's have to do with what you have been working on personalizing your desktop. Then I would suggest you to delete /home/yourusername/.config since that is what holds all of information on your preferences and all of that. This course of action would enable you to restart all over again and...
@Ravan BTW, if you starred all those messages directed at you, please try not to star everything that's useful to you in the future.
It floods the wall with single-star posts and since they're newer, they often take precedent over older, but more highly-starred posts that other people may find more useful than those you starred.
I've installed Ubuntu 14.04 with LXDE using crouton on my chromebook and it's working fine, I would like to try using i3 with it instead though (which is what I usually have on my main system).
I'm not sure how to go about this - on my other system it was just a case of choosing i3 then selecti...
Awww. Honestly, nobody made me. The teacher had to fight to get them to let me take as many college courses in my senior year as I did. It was that or "Keyboarding" though, which I obviously wouldn't have learned anything from taking.
It is. I've said for a long time though, class choices should be based on aptitude not decisions. You don't get to say "This is what I want to do" then try and fail. You get to take a bunch of tests, and are given a menu of what you'ld be BEST at doing. Still choices, but more of a "set everyone up for success" instead of "teach them all a little bit of everything"
@Fabby This is true. You'ld get people set up learning a trade though. "Sorry, you don't have the aptitude to do that track. You'ld make a great welder though. Why not give that a try?"
@RPiAwesomeness My reaction to this is to hold the horn away and shout "Hey, Emma, can you fetch gramps?" and then tell the tele-marketer: "Stay on the line, someone went to fetch him!" and then leave the line open, but on mute and check for a hang-up every 15 minutes...
Bah. I'm taking a Sociology CLEP test prep class and it's horrible. Definitely CLEP-ing the crap out of this class, do not want to have to sit through an entire actual class on the stuff :P
Not sure exactly what the acronym is, but CLEP tests are tests you can take to prove you know enough of a subject to skip the entry level college classes on the subject
Saving money & time ... and brain cells when it comes to Sociology
@Oli George has been relegated to the Sandbox until further notice. I'm going to keep him there until I can find a way to make him less annoying. I'll ping you and some other mods when that time comes. Until then, he'll stay out of this room.
@RPiAwesomeness CLEP == collegel level equivalent protocol. If you hear "AP" think "if you score well enough on the final different colleges will give you different levels of credit, but college level"
@Fabby 5 is max. 4 is most anywhere gives you a semester of credit. 3 is low end places give you a level of credit. It may have changed since then, but it was that way at the time.
I may go for the CLEP one though, I guess AP is kinda the big "oo. You did AP. You must be really smart." while CLEP is more of the average level of testing.
@hbdgaf as far as a theme for your game goes... I thought some more about the operating system / distro idea. SuperTuxKart (the racing game) did a slight spin on that and went with open source mascots like Tux, Beastie (BSD), Gnu, Hexley (Darwin), etc.
@NathanOsman It could. I'm thinking dune weapons at the moment, but I'm having trouble finding the artwork. I'm thinking about just posting blank cards with a skinning engine. Then people could chain-link to the project page and give you skirmish themes, OS themes, dune themes, or whatever else.
I want the best problem, but I won't not win ever again.
@NathanOsman - Do you have recommendations for the ranking levels? I like the OS noise as a way to do it, but I'm also prototyping the engine, so I need test sets.
