12:00 AM
this line is strange, $PACKAGE -o "$OLD" -n "$NEW" -d "$DIRECTORY"

Does it call for the script inside the script? it looks alright but it's just a new way of thinking...

yep

scripting is cool.

you can see @line 8 the initialization of PACKAGE

I need to do this
yeah that was the first thing I looked for when I found $package

@Alvar You do, with PHP :)

12:01 AM
@Lucio well php is different.

yeah, true

I can't really call index.php -p $test $one $two
like in bash

hehehe

but in general it's similar....

@Mateo would you mind to add your Search feature on the Wishlist or to the bug tracker? I can't remember your words specifically

12:05 AM
what does fi mean?

it is the end of the if statement, has no meaning at all

aha, in Java you use {} instead, but has the same result...

`then` -> `{`
`fi` -> `}`
@Alvar exactly

if() {} is the same as
if
then
fi

yepy

12:07 AM
is there no else function?

yes, it is called else :P

lol

line 137 looks weird
why doesn't that come before fi?

wait, are we talking about the app or the test?

12:09 AM
test

oh ok

are they different?
thought the test was an upgraded version of the app
oh...

no, the test just test the app
the app doesn't test at all

oh...

heh, sorry for the confusion
you can see at line 140 there is a comment that explains what does the line 137 does :)

12:11 AM
@Lucio yeah, the test and show diff

@Lucio dat english bro, If it did not returned

@Mateo oh, the difference display thing
@Alvar I can't understand what you mean :S

@Lucio the gramatics sounded wrong to me, but doesn't really matter. it's just a comment

oh, yeah
it doesn't sounds good to me neither, but no idea how to improve it with my english :)

If it did not return.

12:15 AM
oh right

or, if it didn't return

will use that one

AlvarBerglind + GitHub = <3

12:19 AM

@Lucio noooo

yeahh, mostly I don't remember last names

hehe
oh.. I should go to sleep now.. 02:23 am....

then, I guess that is going to be my last commit for the day

spelling improved. GJ
hehe

12:25 AM
Thank you @Alvar for your fixes!

np :)

And you are more than welcome to edit it whenever you want to :)

@mateo I'm sending you a response

Have a good night!

@Lucio hehe, don't say that to a person that never have written any bash code in his life!
cya! :)

12:26 AM
@Alvar comments are not minor ;)

I'm out too. See you next week guys!

12:42 AM
@ThomasW. cool, I'll try and get out towards the beginning of the week, have something to send hbdgaf as well.

@Alvar finito - finished
Also if backwards, that's how I remember it

@Alvar Hardware questions are off-topic except for when they relate to running Ubuntu. What RAM to get has nothing to do with Ubuntu, so off-topic.
And @muru Server Fault is for questions related to server/computer management in a professional capacity. I'm sure most of the folks asking over there know what RAM to buy ;)

2:59 AM
hmm, aren't and pretty much the same thing? (At least, as defined by their current tag wikis)

3:18 AM
@Seth ah, sorry about that. :)

np :)

3:52 AM
@Mateo No rush, whenever you get it. :)

I feel like someone's happy :D

@Seth Well I thought it could be ok if you wrote it like what commands do I run to find out what memory is OK. Since that could be general. But nvm, if it's been solved. Still not sure we need a question like that...

Q: Ubuntu How to re-install bootlaoder

user81926I accidently altered my partition table. Somehow I wiped it out completely and changed the disk label. The system has not been rebooted yet and I managed to rebuild it the way it originally was using the original structure and label however I need to re-install a new bootloader for the new MBR. Q: How far should an edit (of someone else's answer) go?

Jacob VlijmRelated to this question: Recently, I saw a question. While I was working on an answer, another answer popped up, of which the concept was quite the same as what I had in mind. However, the answer had a number of "fatal" issues that would make it definitely not work as it was. I stopped working...

Q: Show the time as well as the date that a file was modified with Ubuntu 14.04?

Matt O'BrienHow can I allow the file browser, in Ubuntu 14.04, to show the time as well as the date that a file was modified? For example, the image shows the day the files were Modified...but I cannot find an option to also show the time the files were modified.

anyone know if there's a "standard" head lxc ppa? privileged containers work fine, but unprivileged containers lxc needs a patch for the newer kernels and trusty kernel is ahead of trusty lxc from repo.
for now, i'm going to use ppa:ubuntu-lxc/daily
o/ @Mateo

no

9:31 PM
no what?

9:42 PM
not sure if i need to revert for more testing, but i got a permission error even after the upgrade, but it was a different one. i had to chmod +x ~/.local/share for things to start working
also, shouldn't the lxc utilities support -n being the first positional argument? i mean it would make sense right?

^ that can get annoying pretty fast

hi @hbdgaf

@Braiam oh please no.

put a package in the mail for you, they didn't like your address...

@Braiam for the love of god no. there is so much evil brewing in the recesses of my brain just by reading that feature description
@Mateo wait what?
who doesn't like my address?

9:47 PM
wasn't in the computer, so we will see if it gets there or not
usps

ahhh that. it will get here.

I'd much prefer if you made mobile chat work. I can't even star things. Come on! — Lightness Races in Orbit 14 mins ago

they didn't "register" all the slots as independent addresses. so google maps does better than the usps in this case.
@Braiam LIKE A BOSS

@Braiam I can star things with my pinky on the nexus 5

I think they mean in the mobile chat stack-app

9:49 PM
uh, don't flag, try to star...
there

really?
I can't on a full fledged desktop, how can you in your tablet with the pinky?

click and hold on the message body could bring up a massive selector for star || reply || flag... that would be a script that would be useful.

@hbdgaf hey, that's a great idea!

well i didn't say it because it was a dumb idea >.>

Q: Could there be a tooltip when you vote to close as off topic because it is EOL?

TimThis question is because of some close votes due to EOL are wrong - I expect it is quite a lot. Could the tool tip display somethi...

Tim
you tube have monkeys

@Tim have you never seen that error before? it's one of google's less clever ones. i like that their errors have a bit of humor in them though.

@AskUbuntuMeta tl;dr close the question as unclear what you are asking
because someone voted one way, doesn't mean that the others votes apply

@Braiam smart phone ;) and with great pain

10:02 PM
@Braiam I think the OP is asking for a tooltip warning. Maybe it would be more clearly interpreted that way if there was some reference to "x.y-server" to warn people that server might be OT longer than desktop.
@Mateo and tiny pinkies with sharp angular edges resembling a stylus.

@hbdgaf people VTC how they feel like, but I don't go rubber-stamping previous closevotes, but vote for the reason I consider the correct, I don't need tooltip informing me

@Seth how you believe the system will show the suggested tooltip, please humor me. — Braiam 56 secs ago
@Braiam I'm really not sure what you mean there.
This isn't about asking questions, Tim is suggesting we show that tooltip when someone votes to close as EOL. Tags aren't involved at all.
I'm not saying the tooltip idea is a good idea, I'm yet to be convinced, but none of your points are making sense when compared to what Tim is suggesting.

@Seth when should that tooltip appear?
@Seth I'm pointing out why people close EOL!
all cases presented have somewhere the version of Ubuntu used
either in tags or in title
and tell me is not a normal behavior when you comments like this
your 2nd comment to me is a reaon why tagging a question with a release number is not always smart. An error in 13.10 that is not related to it being EOL can help a 12.04 or 14.04 user. On the other side: it is soooooooo darn handy to sort the questions on a tag like 13.10 (or Mint) and close-vote the new created ones :D — Rinzwind 2 days ago
people close vote based on tags and irrelevant information all the time
