@Zanna nohup is like disown . It disconnects the process from shell and lets it run on its own , so if shell exists - process will still run. Difference is that nohup works for any shell, while disown is bashism

All of the VMs use our company's Samba server for storing various bits and pieces of data.

Sounds to me like someone using the amount of reputation to prove that their answer is correct vs someone that doesn't have as much reputation. That's what I got out of it.
Pfff , I was corrected multiple times by users with much lesser reputation on the site. It's not always a real measure of people's knowledge. Although it comes pretty close sometimes
It can be, or it can also be by how often someone comes to the site and answers things. I have not been on as often, and my reputation has not climbed very much. Doesn't really mean anything, just something not to use as a defense.
Someone once used it against me by saying look how many top answers they had.
Nah, reputation is just a measure of how satisfied people were with your answers. That's all. It has to be considered in the context of other things , like number of answers or time spend on this site.
@Seth well , Jacob is better to explain himself, because it's tagged as discussion, and I've no clue what he wants to discuss there . . .
@Serg I am not disagreeing. All I am saying is that it was used against me in one "conversation" I had with someone about an answer where they were dead set that their answer was correct and they used the look at my answers as defense. Kind of irritated me.
My answer was an alternative way that still worked and it was tested.
