Mark RaymondSteps I have done: Installed Ubuntu Server 16.04.1 in VMware Workstation 12 Edited /etc/default/grub to contain GRUB_GFXMODE=1440x900 GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep Run sudo update-grub Rebooted; resolution was set correctly, both GRUB and Ubuntu were at 1440x900 Shut down Took a snapshot Started...

@AnwarShah That's why they named 15.10 after me ;-D

I see. I should have know this already!

but this wolf hasn't reached EOL
This should be closed as dup instead of specific to EOL release askubuntu.com/questions/808502/…

I found a bug in Stack Exchange... now what?
It's an usability bug: you can't open the reputation thingy when you don't have an active internet connection

post in meta SE?

Post about it on Meta Stack Exchange and tag it as
That's not a bug though, I think.
Rather a feature request.

Q: Is it possible to run 127.0.0.1/login.aspx at the web browser, if we run only one mod_mono_server4 and apache2 server instance on Ubuntu 16.04?

FrankRecently, I set up /etc/apache2/apache2.conf on Ubuntu Linux 16.04 so that an webuser can run 127.0.0.1/course/login.aspx with any browser as long as we run one mod_mono_server4 server and 1 or more apache2 service instance. For the purpose of making mod_mono handle several applications, it...

@Zanna answer for lks-indicator updated

3:44 PM
whoop!!
beautiful
thank you :D

you're always welcome

there is actually no need to chmod it and no need for python-appindicator
after cloning the script is already executable
and since you changed the script no missing module issue
I just rm'ed the old directory and followed the instructions

OK, I could remove that . . .
chmod is for my own protection - I don't always push files that are executable to git
protection against my own stupidity

lol sure as you like... if it was my post I would say something like 'check the script is executable and if not...' but that would make it longer so
alias lksi='lks-indicator >/dev/null 2>&1 &'
^_^

( ^_^)b nice idea

3:56 PM
oh better disown it too because it doesn't like ctrl+c

I'd use nohup

le kolo serg indicator earning repz

what's the advantage? considering I don't ever want to read the error messages and might forget to delete the nohup out file...

deserves a lot of rep for all the work that went into it
Hi Afshin :)

4:00 PM
@Zanna nohup is like disown . It disconnects the process from shell and lets it run on its own , so if shell exists - process will still run. Difference is that nohup works for any shell, while disown is bashism

What is the command for copying/syncing millions of files between number of server as performance and speed? Thanks

oh I see... gah I must learn many things

@AfshinHamedi look into rsync command

@AfshinHamedi rsync -avW -e ssh /path/from/dir/ /path/goto/dir/
can be used to copy to and from another server too

Let me try it, I tried with scp but as huge number of files it stops copying
Does rsync has an option and ability to sync files in multiple destinations?
Because everyone I'm doing manually and getting the files name and then copy none existing files in different destinations
Every time : )

well I'm going to make raw vegan millionaire shortbread tart...

sounds tasty . . . except for the word "millionaire" , I don't like eating people

haha it wouldn't be vegan with humans in it. it's basically a sweet crumble base with date caramel on top of that and chocolate praline topping

Lol , World of Warships advertisement :" Playing world of warships will let you avenge the Titanic" (shows ship shooting at an iceberg )
Also, I just made a tongue twister
shows ship shooting shots and sheep

@Rinzwind same, no luck. As I pointed there are huge number of files and rsync also prompting Argument list too long

@Serg Cool :D I only tried World of Tanks yet though.

@ByteCommander i haven't tried neither of them :)

@HenryWHHackv2.0 What happened to 1.0?

@KazWolfe I skipped it like what MS did with windows nine.

@HenryWHHackv2.0 they skipped windows 9 because lulz.
And because code checks for "Windows 9X"

5:56 PM
@KazWolfe that was not MS but 3rd party apps. Like Java. It checks for the 9 as the 1st digit to decide if it is 95or 98 versus ME :D

@KazWolfe No it's because 789 (Microsoft Windows 789! :O) :D

Sanity!\

That's dumb. Code should not have been checking for "9x" since both Windows 95 and 98 were version "4.x".

Can't micro$oft just MODified the stupid code?

Huh?

It's a joke.

I can get a mint N4 for $80, or €72.

Contoso Ltd. (also known as Contoso and Contoso University) is a fictional company used by Microsoft as an example company and domain. == History == Contoso and its website, contoso.com, are used in documentation and help files for many Microsoft products. Contoso's website redirects to microsoft.com. Examples of its usage include: A February 26, 2010 Microsoft whitepaper examined "the potential outcomes of a pilot implementation of Google Apps from the vantage point of a hypothetical company" called Contoso Ltd. It is used as an example app in the Windows Phone documentation for Flip Ti...

wha?

Yes, Microsoft created a fake company just for their documentation.

poodlecorp is a "hacker" clan that's made up of a bunch of scriptkiddies who know how to type IP addresses into DDoS sites.

6:12 PM
@KazWolfe It reminded me of Contoso :D

how lol

My brain works in mysterious ways.

well they're about as real hackers as contoso is a real company

Every generation of computer programmers has its own "why didn't the previous generation anticipate this?" moment. This happened with Unicode. This is now happening again with HiDPI.
SVG might help take the sting out of this - were it not so difficult to do properly in QtSvg.

SVG is such a pain to work with dynamically, though.

I'll hand this one to Apple. They seem to have succeeded.
HiDPI on Windows is confusing but possible. Linux - FORGET ABOUT IT.

i think it was a failed MSI thing, and they released it with 980M SLI

Though it would also be useful for OpenCL.

Sounds about right.

What on earth is this blabbering all about ? meta.askubuntu.com/q/15812/295286
Can somebody explain to me ?

something about reputation
and defense for trying to farm rep

Sounds to me like someone using the amount of reputation to prove that their answer is correct vs someone that doesn't have as much reputation. That's what I got out of it.

7:14 PM
Pfff , I was corrected multiple times by users with much lesser reputation on the site. It's not always a real measure of people's knowledge. Although it comes pretty close sometimes

or that they have more rep that their answers don't need sources because "they wouldn't lie"

It can be, or it can also be by how often someone comes to the site and answers things. I have not been on as often, and my reputation has not climbed very much. Doesn't really mean anything, just something not to use as a defense.
Someone once used it against me by saying look how many top answers they had.

@Serg no one really knows.

Nah, reputation is just a measure of how satisfied people were with your answers. That's all. It has to be considered in the context of other things , like number of answers or time spend on this site.
@Seth well , Jacob is better to explain himself, because it's tagged as discussion, and I've no clue what he wants to discuss there . . .

huh neat. i got a user banned from Gaming.SE and he wants his account deleted.

7:19 PM
@Serg I am not disagreeing. All I am saying is that it was used against me in one "conversation" I had with someone about an answer where they were dead set that their answer was correct and they used the look at my answers as defense. Kind of irritated me.
My answer was an alternative way that still worked and it was tested.

@Serg I think he was still upset about his previous meta post and so didn't articulate his thoughts well.
I could be wrong, but that is the feeling I got.

@Terrance I totally understood what you're saying. I was just thinking out loud :)

@KazWolfe would you like some blog with that backdoor? xD
hi @Mitch :)
