4:00 PM
it's a 360 video
play it on your phone and tilt the screen

i can use "google-maps-like" arrow keys on my desktop video
it is pretty cool

that too, but it's not as cool :p
so did you get a chance to read what I said above?

yup .. . . i read it . . .thinking . . .

what a waste of 360 degree video ..xD watching 2d cats
about VR ..does any body know if VR frame ..like google cardboard supports multiple phones or they are just made for one specific phone

@CodeX probably depends on the VR frame...

4:08 PM
@Zacharee1 @Serg You can also drag the video with the mouse to rotate the camera.

yup, that too

@TheXed I see .. I saw one in the mall .. but had no mention of what phone model it supports

@CodeX according to Google's Cardboard page: ²Android 4.1 or higher, or iOS 8.0 or higher. Supports larger phones with screens sizes 4 to 6 inches.

you can just use your phone and where were you move video change its angle accordingly ..reading from senors

This 360° video was the first one I saw yesterday and it's made really good.

4:11 PM
@TheXed then it should fit .. mine is 5.60 inch

According to their specs yes.

Where are the 360 cats?

If you look down in the In Extremo video, you can see into the camera man's neck... ;)
Oh wow.
Say hello to 20k again! \o/

@ByteCommander I like how the one pilot is taking selfies...

4:16 PM
lol

I just noticed I'm on 20,088 already.

RERUN THE SCRIPT

That simple CPU hyperthreading answer earned me 165 points today.

really? o_O
15 upvotes?

As I always said, the simpler a question is, the more votes you get for answering them.

@Zacharee1 yup, reported it for smokey. Thanks.
(and flagged it, of course)

flagged then
@Serg how's it going?

and it's gone with the wind...

4:21 PM
huh that was a fun 360 ride

SE seems a bit slow today :)
Woohoo, 210 today
I'm nearly back to my old glory from before the spring cleaning

4:39 PM
@CodeX so , how do you want me to do this ? imwheel speeds up scroll, xinput slows it down. Do you want to only set faster speed or do you want only to slow down the speed ?

@Serg if you can make both .. faster imwheel one for web browser .. (I use chrome) ..slower xinput for terminal .. (I use guake) .. only if its easy do it .. or else whatever you find easy you can make it .. I will adjust as per my needs later

sigh . . . this is more difficult than i thought

we can leave the answer as it is ? if we can ..then leave it ..its already accepted

nope, i can't leave it , because it's not doing what questions asks

It connect...

4:46 PM
ok whatever is easy for you .. you can create

Totally true that the simplest answers get the most votes and the ones that take hard work get ignored

@Zanna not always. but generally yes. it is correct for my answers anyways

it might depend on how many people face that issue
or makes their life's easier

what also helps is getting in the top 10 views list. Then people also come from other sites than just AU frontpage

Can't understand why I'm the only person who's so far upvoted anything here... this is a fun question :) askubuntu.com/questions/806640/…

4:55 PM
someone who can't be bothered to actually click the links after the download askubuntu.com/questions/806679/running-16-04-1-download

The n00bness is strong in this one

@Serg so about that script :p

@Zacharee1 no, Serg is smoking and afk . I'll think about the script and stuff. Right now i have to fix the mouse scroll script and also install blinders in my room, be they damned

I laughed.

It's painful to watch all those questions >_<

i like diy stuff too, but this was torment

it's always harder than you think it will be no?

saddest part is that parents yell "gtfo from my house" if anything is not according to their wishes
I'd love to gtfo if i had lv and place to gtfo

eh, life choices. i blame engineering

I'm unsure if I'm actually quite good at Python or not (but probably not)

@grooveplex show your code to @JacobVlijm, he will tell you

@JacobVlijm any way I could reach you?
(As I don't wish to publicly disclose the code)
Ah, I found it

6:05 PM
someone upvote this answer so I can use it as a dupe source askubuntu.com/questions/794787/…
but I can't mark it
thanks

why did the OP not accept? >_<

idk

comment "thanks! that helped!!" but no accept... so irritating hahaha

but I always feel like I'm really annoying when I ask

me too, but I do it anyway, because pretty much everything on AU triggers some social anxiety for me, so I just push on through haha

6:08 PM
:p
@Zanna you should CV that dupe now

thanks for reminding me, brain has too many tabs open

done
all in all, the result is just a bunch of holes in the wall

@Zacharee1 +2

yay

and duped

good

@Serg just FYI .. your power flow indicator works in kubuntu .. but doesn't show any reading in panel

6:29 PM
@CodeX probably needs extension to show labels . . . once i have time and kubuntu vm, i will look into it

gosh, need to chillax

huh?

I think Serg means he needs some time off :)

6:45 PM
Can't chillax, there is work to be done.

How did the review queue become so huge?

like scripting

It's now at 102 items
Please if you have not used up all of your 20 reviews today and you have got some spare time, review some posts :)
Thanks

7:05 PM
@grooveplex aha. apt is used on older versions of Ubuntu to upgrade them to 16.04 it seems

sigh

wat

why is everyone so confused about apt vs apt-get all of a sudden.
it's not like apt hasn't existed since 14.04.

I thought it was a 16.04 feature?

sigh. no.

7:13 PM
welp
so then why has no one used it until 16.04?

I have used it exclusively since 14.04. Hardly touched apt-get since then

hmm

Case in point:
33
A: How do I enable fancy apt colours and progress bars?

Jorge CastroFor 14.04 and newer: Make a file in: /etc/apt/apt.conf.d: sudoedit /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99progressbar Then add these contents: Dpkg::Progress-Fancy "1"; Save the file and you can now enjoy apt progress bars in all their glory: You can use them with these commands for a nice new apt exper...

huh

ah, I thought so. apt was in 13.10 too, although that might have been a backport.
I have no idea why everyone went haywire about it all of a sudden. It has been a well known and documented feature for years now.

7:18 PM
@Seth most people use apt-get, hence when they hear apt , it's confusing. Also, naming . . . could have been way more creative there

@Serg Most people I know use apt. But then, they're mostly power users too.
I do use apt-get in scripts or when in doubt about the version, but only because 12.04 is still supported.

I'd never heard about apt until 16.04
then everyone started using it in commands

@Seth but most questions/answers on AU use apt-get. How does that compare to the percentage of people you know ?

@Serg Even I use apt-get in answers, because you don't know who is going to be running the commands.
Well that's a first. Plagiarism by screenshot o_O

??

7:23 PM
@Zacharee1 on an answering spree?

YESH

i have never seen that from you before, can you please stop slacking and write moar

Another reason to use NAA for link only answers, and not VLQ: If the person updates their answer between the flag and when it gets reviewed, we have to decline VLQ flags because they will cast an auto downvote if approved. We try to mark NAAs helpful, if we notice.

@Seth what are you on about?

hm?

7:28 PM
what are you talking about?

why you should use NAA flags for link only answers instead of VLQ?

By the way my life is complete and I can get rid of my andriod phone, There is now an official Starbucks app for Windows 10 Mobile.

Give it to me :P

Nah...my boss might have something to say about that

7:53 PM
@Seth What? VLQ flag causes an automatic downvote? That's new to me...

@ByteCommander Yup.

And approved means exactly what?

This is good to know... jokerdino also explained some reasons not to use VLQ

Or better, do you have an official meta post you can link about that?
Btw @Serg once you chillaxed enough, what about another indicator for me? :)

@ByteCommander marked helpful

7:57 PM
And at what point does that happen? First "recommend deletion" vote by a 2k+ user?

@ByteCommander huh? That has nothing to do with VLQ flags.

We're talking about the flag not the queue. Two totally different things.

@ByteCommander sure, what's the requirements

VLQ flags get posts into the LQ queue, or am I totally wrong on this?
Is VLQ a moderator flag now?

7:58 PM
@ByteCommander among other things, yes. But so do NAA.
@ByteCommander Always was.

@Serg Brightness.

@ByteCommander that already exists

@Seth Hmm... I would appreciate if there was a single, well structured place where how all this flag stuff works would be explained.

i have weirdest chromium bug right now - it minimizes my youtube window if i click another chromium window

@Serg with custom (logarithmic) intervals?

8:00 PM
@ByteCommander now, that's interesting . . . . explain logarithmic intervals to me

@ByteCommander The only flag type that does not ever enter the moderator flag queue are close flags. Those go exclusively to the close vote queue. All other flags go into our queue. Sometimes in addition to the very low quality review queue (depending on the flag type)

flag overflow... >.<
@Serg On my LCD, the step between brightness == 0 and 1 is much stronger than between e.g. 99 and 100.

"You know what else is bananas ? Fruit " -- Jacksepticeye, 2016 XD

This should be compensated by making smaller steps in the lower areas and bigger steps in the higher areas.
Like a logarithmic scale in a diagram. You don't label it 10/20/30 (would be linear), but 1/10/100 (base 10 logarithmic)

ah, I see

8:03 PM
And also all human senses have "logarithmic scales"
My problem is that with Fn+←/→, I have a constant step of 9 points.
I would love to also be able to set brightness values of 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, etc points.
However, I need less accuracy in the higher ranges, a step of 20 points starting above around 50 is really enough.
Or if I could change the steppings of the default Fn+←/→, that would be even more optimal.
And the indicator should react on point-and-scroll, like the volume indicator, pleeeeease.... :)

scroll stuff may be difficult. I haven't found anything about creating scale line for appindicators
i know i could make a menu

I mean not to click and open a menu with a slider, I mean pointing on the icon and spinning the mouse wheel.
Or well, if an indicator is a bit too difficult, let's just do it with keyboard shortcuts.
Is it possible to override Fn+Arrow or is that directly sent to the kernel?

A: How can one retract or undo a flag on a post?

SethFollowing this longstanding request on Meta Stack Exchange you can now retract flags you have cast. Simply click the "flag" button again on the post you flagged and the "Flag Answer" (or "Flag Question") button becomes "Retract Flag". This does not work on comments.

@ByteCommander you can override any key combo... if not directly through keyboard bindings you can alwaus edit the udev rule :-P

Ah, okay. I have no idea...

8:13 PM
Can someone grab a screenshot for my answer there? The functionality does not appear for moderators.

@Seth that took 5 years?

@Rinzwind ikr

like this?

@Rinzwind no, I meant a screenshot of the flag dialog showing how to retract a flag.

8:15 PM
ah that
on it

Looks like @ByteCommander is also on it, and he's winning :P

holly balls, i wish i had enough money to move like right now

tsk
I am so gonna downvote him :=)

@ByteCommander thanks!

8:17 PM
:P

@Rinzwind :P
thanks too

:D

@Serg Holly balls? I would not really like holly anywhere near mine...

there still gonna post it :+

:D

8:18 PM
but you already have one holly there :)
ok, this conversation is going weird

All translations for holly on leo.org are different kinds of plants which mostly have prickles.

8:35 PM
@Zanna around? could you translate this? askubuntu.com/a/806740/44179

I get the gist of what he is saying, but I would rather have someone more familiar with the language edit it.

@Seth I edited it. It only contained 3 words of Spanish anyway, the rest were commands.

*$^&$%

Ah I'm around yes... but it's only Portuguese I have :)

8:40 PM
editing it approved the VLQ flag and gave it a downvote -.-
I forgot about that "feature".

@ByteCommander how's this ?
>>> [ int(100*math.log(x,10)) for x in range(1,11) ]
[0, 30, 47, 60, 69, 77, 84, 90, 95, 100]

Another reason not to use VLQ flags.

@Serg That's exactly the opposite of what I want...
Small steps in the low range and big steps in the high range.

user136984
CAUTION: I may be about to offend lots of people. :P

@ParanoidPanda go ahead, no one cares

user136984
8:45 PM

@ByteCommander well that's not log scale, that's 1/x scale

Uh... depends on the perspective.

user136984
So? Should I make the offendedPeopleCounter go up by 1 yet then? :P

user136984
I just saw that somewhere and liked it... :D

user136984
Room falls silent...

8:48 PM
hmm, i actually like the log scale i did just now

I need something like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 70, 90, 110, 130, 150, 170, 187
(187 is max_brightness on my machine)

there is pokemon tab is Rinzwind's screenshot xD
