@Terrance I kind of lied, there are two drive bays in the laptop plus the mSata and the first drive bay has 240GB SSD which is Sata III in Sata III channel. My point was love the machine you are with.

@ThomasWard I yelled at the Mayerthorpe RCMP on the phone and refused to pay the extra $4000 scuba divers to see if my dead body was in the car.
Plus it was 2 am and in my defense the case of Molson Canadian beer in the passenger seat was unopened and I never got that back.... just the laptop in trunk.
The six hour walk after the "incident" was "uncomfortable"
@Zacharee1 no such thing as global warming until they can afford $10 to put a thermometer on the International Space Station to measure the temperature of the sun each day.
@willem.hill Good question. BIOS Post takes about 5 seconds to 10 seconds and I was looking at modding reboot to bypass it and calling MBR directly from kernel today.
@willem.hill approximately 30 seconds with SSD when I had 14.04 , but with 16.04 I haven't measured. Switch to systemd pisses me off though, and I can bet 10$ that my boot time got worse
@willem.hill then that explains it. @Serg's is all bogged down with the 2 billion indicators he's made. Mine is clogged up with about 10 desktop environments and random testing stuff.
@Zacharee1 it's quite simple. The hotter the sun gets the hotter earth gets. NASA has no thermometer to measure the temperature of the sun on the International Space Station and tell us.
@Zacharee1 You can challenge by proving the ISS has a thermometer and reports the temperature of the sun each day. But it won't work because I've been blogging this complaint for years.
In apps like cheese my webcam displays the picture just fine, but in other apps like facebook video chat it registers me upside down. Any input on how to fix this?
@WinEunuuchs2Unix no, what concerns me is that you have no backing for this hypothesis at all, besides observations from on Earth, where the temperature fluctuations and raises have been proven to be connected to the destruction of our atmosphere
@WinEunuuchs2Unix maybe instead of ranting and blogging, actually contact NASA/the UN and request something be installed? (A normal thermometer wouldn't work btw, since there's no temperature in space)
@Zacharee1 Did I tell you about the shirt I saw that said "Stack Overflow" and there was a picture of a giant stack of pancakes about to topple over? :)
I watched archer first. So it was the other way around for me. I was all "You're not hiding your mother and a bottle of glengoolie in the back room are you?"
@Seth srsly though. did fine in the recent hurricane. now we're just watching a bigger city further west let off their dams screaming why and hoping the post event flooding is not so bad.
@edwinksl eek. yeah, FL and SC took the brunt of it. we're just dealing with a water problem locally... and the population center to our west lets off their dams early EVERY hurricane and floods the more coastal areas.
on the lighter side of things, got a week of vacation, even if it is with 2 days of no power and high water
@WinEunuuchs2Unix yes, but more generally used to refer to comments
@RobotHumans the FL friend was in orlando, so basically just rain and tropical storm force wind... charleston got it pretty bad but my colleague's family is safe, so i guess their decision to not evacuate wasn't fatal...
