@ParanoidPanda you've done something wrong because i've isntalled toxic and i do have the man page. Aside from that, I am 100% sure the $HOME/.config/tox/toxic_profile.tox file is what you actually want
Let me know if you want me to post that as answer

user136984
@Serg: I installed it by adding the PPA and then with sudo apt-get install toxic, how did you install it?

user136984
And yeah, if you are sure that that's the file I need to import into other clients, then post that as an answer. :)

@ParanoidPanda Hello Panda of the pandas ! :) What is the advantage of toxic compared to qtox ?

user136984
@cl-netbox: When I first saw that I thought it read "Hello Panda of planets"! :D

user136984
@cl-netbox: It's the Tox CLI client, so if I am using a machine with no GUI then it is useful. :)

12:12 PM
@ParanoidPanda would be correct ... somehow ... as well ! :D

user136984
:D

@ParanoidPanda Thank you for explanation. :)

@ParanoidPanda exactly the same way, I followed instructions in the wiki . . .

user136984
@Serg: Hmm... Strange, maybe they changed something... So when you run man toxic it gives you its manpage?

@ParanoidPanda yup, it does . . .and it doesn't mention the export profile thing , so you didn't miss alot :)
I was on Werewolf by the way, @ParanoidPanda what's your version ?
maybe the forgot to include man page for your version ?

12:22 PM
@cl-netbox hi

:D devs are people too, they forget things

user136984
@Serg: Same version.

Hm. Someone failed the Turing test.

did they switch to the check box on se?
you usually don't even hit them unless you are doing repetive actions...
I so want to post a comment like "Congratulations you have been proven a human - robots will keep trying and failing. you have given up on the impossible thus proving yourself"
I think there was a bug where you could skip them by backing out
would be funny if that was the test..

Just posted a shell script, but someone probably will do a better job with rename command

user136984
VTC this Minty question as off-topic.

@ParanoidPanda hi :D
my problem about gnome is solved :D, thanks btw

@edwardtorvalds you need to log out and log back it, if it's for GUI terminal

1:02 PM
for TTY . . .well . . .same . logout and login

i will be back
@Serg thanks it worked

user136984
@edwardtorvalds: Good, what was it? :)

@edwardtorvalds you're welcome

@ParanoidPanda my fonts were thin, changing hinting option didnt help. so I deleted ~/.config/fontconfig folder and that problem was gone
@ParanoidPanda that problem started when I installed Deepin DE

@kos you and community work fast, closed that question in a minute

1:05 PM
anyone here tried Deepin DE?

user136984
@edwardtorvalds: Right, maybe you should post that as a self-answered Q&A in order to help others in the future with it. :)

I've Deeping OS on my VM . . .it's a beautiful desktop . . .

user136984
@Serg: So? Where's your Toxic answer then? :D

I'm considering full install

kos
@Serg ;) I'm craving a golden badge to make it even faster

1:06 PM
@ParanoidPanda I am not sure I should post that question because that problem could be too specific to my usage

@ParanoidPanda Um . . . I'm going to have to play with it for a few days :) you know i am slow

@kos thanks
Deeping DE is bit slow and buggy

kos

@kos I'm on silver too. How much you still have till gold ?
@ParanoidPanda well, it's 6 AM, and I failed to go to bed like normal human at 10 pm last night
so i won't post answer until i had enough sleep

guys?
WHAT did one kernel said to another?

user136984
@Serg: Wow... You should really go and get some sleep now! :D

kos
@Serg They should give some privilege to silver badge owners (e.g. a close vote weights the double). A lot, currently 370.
You're quite a bit closer, you need another 250

Wait, I cannot find it . . .
oh , You must have a total score of 1000 in at least 200 non-community wiki answers to achieve this badge.

1:13 PM
@ParanoidPanda what is your website about? recommend other websites?

I've 205 answers with total score of 750 . . .daym . . .I didn't even know i got that far . . . I usually don't track badges . . .

user136984
@edwardtorvalds: Oh, that... :D

@ParanoidPanda so what is really about?
anyone here who used zsh?

user136984
@edwardtorvalds: No, I created that website a long time ago, it doesn't really have a purpose... :D

ok
anyone here who used zsh?

1:15 PM
@ParanoidPanda what's your blog again by the way ?

user136984
I lost FTP access to it until just recently (I didn't have access for many years), so I wasn't able to change anything, though I will soon go in and do something with it... :)

user136984
@Serg: Haven't worked on that in a while either, though I will again soon, I think I linked to it in my about section of my profile. :)

user136984
@Serg: This is it. :)

>_< nobody reads profiles of people with whom they chatted for more than a week . . . unless that's a pretty female. . Then I read it

@Seth - started working on the dbus process/json middle layer for fisticuffs today... and so, a question

user136984
1:17 PM
I'm going to start working on it again within the next few weeks. :)

user136984
@Serg: And there are many pretty females round here are there? :P

@HeatherBrown gasp oh, noes, I won't even believe . -___- nah, it's cool. Speaking of nicotine, i am actually restarting it, yesterday had my first since i got sick . . .plan to stick with one per day . . .because my chinese friend will be bringing my fav chinese brand and i promised her if she brings it that i will only have one smoke a day
@ParanoidPanda mostly there's guys, but we do have females around on askubuntu as well, if you didn't notice . . .wink wink @Xiaodongjie and @HeatherBrown
OK, I really need to go to sleep
Blame askubuntu for making me enjoy questions way to much and destroying my sleep patterns :D

@ByteCommander Hi! Me @JacobVlijm and @Fabby were starting to get a bit worried since you didn't log in the past few days.

@ByteCommander He's alive!

3:26 PM
@Fabby @kos @ParanoidPanda No needs to worry, you won't get rid of me that quick! ;-)

@kos It's not a question, it's a statement. Yes, I was saying - I bought one. It works. I wanted someone to tell me a while ago so there was no risk. I bit the bullet, and I got lucky.
If it took giving one to Canonical to get it on "the list" I'ld buy it myself to send to them.

But you may expect longer downtimes from now on, as I've got a full-time internship currently, so I'm usually busy Monday-Friday...

kos
@hbdgaf Too bad, I was up for it already. :)
@ByteCommander Starred that one as well, so no one's gonna worry about anyone again anytime soon.

@kos I can send one, but I can't cover an insanity VAT... if you really want to play with one.

@ByteCommander They failed horribly at the Yoda voice, if that's even what they were going for

@hbdgaf Wow, you're even too nice. Many thanks, but I really couldn't accept it... That thing isn't even cheap. If I'll really need it I'll save up something and buy it.

@kos Well just know it works. That's the important part.

3:50 PM
@hbdgaf Yes, exactly. Wouldn't even know how to tell Canonical to insert it into the compatibility list though.

I was debating about making a "Force Awakens" joke about the 1 rep user named Force that just entered... but I decided against it.

That sounds like a meme

@hbdgaf I've got one too that just works: it's also expensive and can convert from/to VGA/DVI/SVideo/HDMI and contains its own (non-upgradeable processor and software)
(Made in Germany off course)
@ByteCommander Whew! :-)

user139252
@NathanOsman My confusion is how I would update the projects folder in a way that they aren't all sharing one and losing their files with other people's.

user139252
Right now, the updateprojs script is basically a for loop with cp -a in it.

user139252
If common areas are shared, wouldn't that mean that they would have to make their own subfolders for their projects?

kos
@fossfreedom Ah I didn't know Lubuntu came also with OpenBox. That sounds perfect, thanks!
Gonna test how it does on this old laptop.

Hi all, Just a random question.
Can I UP my post if it has passed 2 days ?

egy
To get back to the front page again.

@ByteCommander now official

Ah, okay. Thanks!
@egy What do you mean by "UP"? What do you want to do with it (or how do you want to do this)?

4:53 PM
... just need cinnamon ubuntu and then there will no longer be a need for minty variants :P

egy
@ByteCommander It has been 2 days and my question hasn't received an answer. Editing the question gets it back to the front Questions' page again, hence more people will see it again.
To be more specific, is it legitimate to do such ?

@egy yep - make the edit worthwhile - what extra you have found out etc

egy
@fossfreedom Uhhh unfortunately haven't found anything.

what's the question?

egy
I will try to add something. Thanks @fossfreedom

Q: apt-cache unmet shows non-existent packages

egyRunning apt-cache unmet outputs a 1.2 MB file of missing dependencies of packages, none of which exist (the packages themselves). This is possibly due to restoring old configurations to a fresh install of Ubuntu. I have tried removing, cleaning and purging any related configuration. Can confirm...

@ByteCommander You got my +1 =)

6:15 PM
Thanks guys. This is probably my least accurate answer with several upvotes. ;)

@ByteCommander Things can happen ... :D

@kos My argument was that accepting an answer implies that I find this particular answer to be the most helpful answer among all answers, but it seems it is not a bad thing to upvote as well. Thanks for the meta link.

@ByteCommander It's called "the chat boost", post an answer in the chat and it will get mad upvotes (unless it's too ventured / too long to read).

Hey @cl-netbox . how is it going ? :)

@kos Do you really think that works ? =)
@egy Hello I'm fine and what about you ? :)

@egy Well, not always, but it most cases it also implies the answer was useful (hence deserveful of a +1).

user139252
I'm getting really annoyed with my router, and I don't want to have to modify all of my hosts files...

user139252
What's happening is that I know my domain is reachable externally, that's no problem.

6:22 PM
@ByteCommander +1! Good RCA

user139252
My issue is that my new router has NAT enabled, and I can't disable it

Hi @Fabby my friend ! :)

@HeatherBrown All routers nowadays have: only in the DMZ is the NAT disabled...
Do you have enough public IP addresses???
(for multiple hosts)
@cl-netbox o/

@ByteCommander @cl-netbox Yeah I mean... You know what I mean. Talk about it in the chat and people will check it out.

6:26 PM
@egy Are you Hungarian?

user139252
@Fabby I've tried adding it to DMZ, though, and it still is unreachable by Public IP/domain

@kos Not always...

@Fabby Oh, I just remembered that I forgot to send you the recipe of my cinnamon stars! O.O

egy
@kos Might abuses the chat as well.

@ByteCommander :D And I forgot I asked!

6:27 PM
@Fabby That's true ... =)

I'll look for it now... :)

@HeatherBrown Thinking...

Oh, and a funny additional thing: They were StarOS-shaped! :D

How did you set up the DMZ? port forwarding or IP forwarding?

egy
@Fabby No, not even close. Is the name familiar to you ?

6:28 PM

@egy "egy" is "one" in Hungarian...

kos
@Fabby Ok guys, forget about it. Apparently that's just me!

@kos I'll only post answers of mine here when you're around... ;-)

egy
@Fabby whoa! That sounds weird.
I actually started to see more weird cross-sounds between languages.

kos
@Fabby Yeah but 1) Not too ventured, unless interesting enough 2) Not too long, unless interesting enough ;)

6:30 PM
Learning languages does really make familiar sounds/words different.

Anyone else here struggling with clean urls on Ubuntu Server?
I just updated drupal, and now I can't get clean urls working

user139252
@Fabby The only option is IP

@ShemSeger define "clean"

user139252
I can add one internal IP/device to the DMZ

user139252
6:32 PM
I did, but requests from the internal network still shove me to the router config page.

@kos is this really the best ... only ... recommended way to receive upvotes from you ? =)

@HeatherBrown so it's forwarding all of the IP traffic, not just port forwarding?
And you have an extra IP to do that?

user139252

user139252
That's the only option for DMZ

user139252
currently disabled because enabling it broke external access to the domain.

6:34 PM
@Fabby Drupals definition of clean. Drupal 8 has "clean URLS" turned on by default. drupal.org/node/134439

egy
@Fabby Oh hahaha, and it is pronounced "egg" !!!

@HeatherBrown Please elaborate on that: what did "break"? Did you ddns it?

kos
@cl-netbox The best way is to post an answer on a question I'm going to read, but if you post in the chat chances are I'm going to take a look anyway.

egy
Thanks for the info. Won't be surprised in the future if I met a Hungarian.

@ShemSeger Ah, nothing I can help with, then...
Sorry to have bothered you with a dumb question.

user139252
6:37 PM
@Fabby Yeah. When I turn on DMZ, the domain puts me to router config from external connections.

@Fabby I just barely fixed this a couple days ago when I first installed Drupal 8, then they come out with an update 2 days later...

@HeatherBrown ewww
You need dd-wrt.

@Seth Do you have the same brand? dd-wrt doesn't work on all hardware...

@kos Hmmm this might be difficult probably ... boot things ... graphics issues ... system installation ... I think those topics may not meet your interest ... so sadly ... no upvotes for my things from you =)

(it doesn't on my Asus)
@HeatherBrown Latest firmware update installed?
because turning on DMZ and being able to externally change router config is just weird!
(sounds like a bug)
I need to split in 5 minutes...
Be back in an hour or so...

user139252
6:41 PM
@Fabby I installed it last week, but they haven't released one in months

user139252
@Seth I tried OpenWRT, but as this is a second hand router, I believe something is wrong with it. OpenWRT caused it to run reallllly hot.

Ah! That one!

@Fabby yeah I know..
@HeatherBrown OpenWRT != dd-wrt :D

kos
@cl-netbox Yeah, to be honest I read / vote on your answers very rarely... That stuff is not exactly my thing, also because I don't have a great experience with it. However I've voted on your answers sometimes.

@Fabby What I did was go to the second hand store and buy a used router for $7.

6:43 PM
Hello @Seth ! :)

Works like a charm.

user139252
@Seth I got mine for $2.50, and it is currently in Best Buy for $90 :P

I'm off! Bye everyone!
I'll be back in a bit more then an hour!!!

@Fabby no, it came with a power supply..
@HeatherBrown What model?

kos
@Fabby Later!

6:44 PM
@Seth Sorry, I was talking about @HeatherBrown's one...
She bought one without power supply...

user139252
They have been promising Linux support for the Drive app for YEARS. Still nothing for us.

Goodbye :)

@HeatherBrown Don't care. I am using mega.nz. 50GB free storage, Sync Client for: Mac, Windows, Linux, WEB, Android and I also think one for iPhone, but don't care for that.
Also, its SECURE. They do everything to secure your data.

user139252
I was just offering a suggestion as to why the Drive option was not showing up.

7:08 PM
@HeatherBrown Thanks. Sorry if I came across to harshly. Haven't slept well in days.

And seems opinion based mostly

8:22 PM
@HeatherBrown not exactly. Docker uses "layers" - each layer can add or remove files from the previous one, so your first layer would be the OS and Python interpreter and the second layer would be your project files. Q: Ubuntu live USB won't start without CSM enabled

ChiseledAbsI copied files from the ubuntu-15.10-desktop-amd64.iso to a FAT32 formated USB drive. When I boot on the USB and select Try Ubuntu without installing the startup get stuck at a black screen with the message Ignoring BGRT: invalid status 0 (expected 1). This happens when I have CSM disabled on my ...

@HeatherBrown that way you can update the OS and the project files for all users without affecting their home directory.
You can even put limits on CPU and memory usage for each instance.

@Serg: I figured out that you just take your profile_toxic.tox file and then use toxic -f path/to/profile_toxic.tox to import it back into Toxic if you want to. Would you like to post it as an answer or shall I? :)

@ParanoidPanda if you don't need my extra upvote, you can certainly post that answer yourself >:)

user136984
@Serg: I really don't mind any more, I've got 10k+ rep now so I really don't mind... But if you want to post the answer do so within the next 10 minutes, if you don't post it within that time I will (just because I figured it out partly thanks to your help and I don't want to leave it unanswered).

In the meantime, I'm totally doing this

user136984
@Serg: Maybe that came out wrong, but I'm basically just more cool about rep now. And what I meant is that now we've got the answer please do post an answer some time within this day or so, as I don't like leaving answered questions unanswered. :)

@HeatherBrown they allready did the command line version, but there was also a leeked image of them working on the whole deal - someone on the inside really didn't like automatic syncing though...

user139252
I don't see why... automatic syncing makes sense

@ParanoidPanda writing answer right now . It's alright :) I don't like posting answers which i didn't figure out myself at least up to 90% . I am not all about rep either :)

user139252
And if they have the command line version, you could easily write a script and save it as a Cronjob

yeah...
I think that was one argument for not doing the full consumer desktop version...
I did just that on the pi once

And done

user136984
@Serg: Thanks! :)

The world doesn't appreciate Linux enough. Maybe there ought to be a distro that just rips off sky-high prices for their OS, spies on the users, and has so much malware . . .maybe then commercial companies will be like "Hmm, maybe we should develop our apps for that distro too"

@Mateo I don't really like them ribbing on Epic for UT3 not coming out for linux now that the entirety of UE4 is open source and freely available...

Q: Ubuntu ethernet connection works for few seconds then drops (with Win 7 dual boot)

BertI've looked through other posts with similar issues but so far to no avail. I'm running dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 15.10 and although the Ethernet connection works on Windows, when I boot Ubuntu it works for a few seconds and then the connection drops. I don't get any notification saying...
